My 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe developed an oil leak, and I had put out feelers for a mechanic. I had a direct message on Facebook offering a shop, Auto Wench II in Hesperia. I knew the shop, and that it had been in the same location for years, so I decided to trust them. I took my car in to have an oil leak fixed, and after a week, I was told it was fixed. Once I got there, however, another leak had started in the time between getting the call my car was ready, and the time I got to the shop. Ok, things happen. I get a diagnosis of a rear main seal, and ok the work. This took almost 2 month to be completed. I picked up car up, and once home, I saw it was leaking oil still. So I call the shop, and was told "it's probably just residual oil", and to bring it back if it continues. I also noticed they did not replace the engine cover. I called and they located it, so we went back to have it put back on. Well, the oil leak did continue (after giving it time to stop, so I could say, yes, I did wait and see), and I brought it back within a week. My calls for a diagnosis were brushed off, I was told someone work call me but that they were "really backed up". I ended up only getting answers once the husband called, and even then, they were slow in answering. This went on for nearly 3 months. I only left it because I did not want to go through the expense of getting another mechanic to diagnose it (and the added expense that would be), and frankly, because I had already waited so long, and paid a good deal to have my vehicle fixed, and it wasn't fixed. Ultimately, I paid $67 for the part, and got my car back. Driving, I started to notice a noise from the front driver-side wheel. The noise progressed quickly into a "helicopter" like sound, and there was some shake to the steering wheel. I went through some possibilities in my head. Now, when I picked up my car from the shop, the locking lug nut socket was sitting in my cup holder. Odd, as that is not where I keep it, and I couldn't figure out why they would have taken a wheel off. I put it in my center console to store it away, but it being left out like that bothered me. Unfortunately, I ended up sick with the flu, and wasn't up for trying to get to the bottom of the situation until this week. I did NOT want to take my car back to the shop that had proven not to be communicative and had treated me like the lowest priority customer. The trust was lost. I took it to another shop close by me (another that had been around for decades) today for a diagnosis, fearing the worse/most expensive repair was forthcoming. Within an hour or 2, the technician called us back with the determination- the previous shop had taken the wheel off (no problem, if there was a need) and out of 6 lug nuts only 1 was tightened. 1 was completely missing, and the other 4 were loose. Because of this there was damage to the wheel (thankfully, not enough to cause a replacement yet). The technician sounded incredulous, explaining that we were lucky the wheel did not come off, and that if we had taken it on the highway, that was a potentially fatal accident waiting to happen. When I was told this, my thoughts went back to that lug socket and how it seemed odd that it was left in my cup holder. So, I agreed to the repair, and had my car back around 4 pm. However, this was almost $180 that I should NEVER had to spend, and it was all due to someone not doing their job correctly and ensuring they checked all the boxes when putting my vehicle back together. I do not feel I should foot the bill to repair something that Auto Wench caused. Thankfully, The wheel stayed on, a flying wheel did not cause anyone else to be injured or killed, and that myself and my 2 kids did not get killed due to this (I have to take my youngest to college to move in soon, so I needed to get it looked at before that happened). read more

I had to drive there to get updates on my vehicle. My car is currently in a shop in LA being repaired. At first, I thought I finally found a place to bring my cars. I have had terrible luck with mechanics in the past. We brought my daughter's 2002 mustang in to have some work done and to be fair there was an extensive amount of work that needed to be done primarily with the car overheating. They had it for roughly a week and gave us back the list of things that needed repair. After much deliberation we decided it was worth it to fix the car rather than purchase a new one. My daughter spent almost all the inheritance money my mother had left her, roughly 3,256. It took them roughly another two weeks to finish fixing it. During the two weeks we only heard from them once. When the car was ready, we got it and at first, it ran like a dream. We were thrilled so I brought my car in to be fixed to the tune of 2,800 bucks. It took them a couple of weeks to fix it as well. During this time my daughter's car began to overheat again. We brought her car back again they had it for a week or so and said they couldn't get to overheat. So, we take it back home. Also, during this time my passenger window that I thought I had repaired stopped working and Mike luckily fixed it within a few minutes of my bringing it back. My daughter and I start driving her car again and the overheating happens yet again. This time we took pictures of the gauges and brought it in again. They had the car for 3 to four months no communication nothing. I had to call several times, and they gave me excuse after excuse. They couldn't get it to overheat; they were short staffed. Whatever, I was trying to just keep the peace be patient and hope that they would fix her car. We had no more money to put into it, so I tried to stay positive and kind even though we were frustrated. After waiting for so long I finally called them, and they once again claimed they couldn't get it to overheat. I had already told them several times to take it through a drive-thru or on Bear Valley and it would definitely overheat. I was so fed up I told them I was just going to come and get it anyway. After they could tell I was frustrated in my tone of voice they called just as I was getting ready to pick it up and asked if they could have it at least one more day, they thought they might know what was wrong with it. I reluctantly agreed and that day turned into three, but they finally called and said they figured it out. Mike didn't charge me as he very well shouldn't have, considering that was why we brought the car in to get fixed in the first place. Mind you, my window stopped working again but I didn't bother even telling them about it. I would not have even written this review except Mike called me and told me that my daughter had left a bad review and asked me to ask her to take it down. I assumed she must have left a scathing review, to have the owner actually have the audacity to call and request to have it taken down. After reading my daughter's very professional review, voicing her opinion in a well-spoken and thought-out manner there is no way I'm going to have her take it down. She has every right to leave this review and so do I. You need to call people and return their calls when they leave a message and let them know what is going on with their cars and then repair those cars in a timely manner. Having a car for months claiming you can't find the problem without any notice tells me you put it on the back burner knowing full well that you couldn't charge more for something you were supposed to fix in the first place and instead worked on jobs that made you money. I had a difficult electrical problem in my 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup that was driving me nuts. I was very impressed from beginning to end. Mike responded to my request for transmission service. I had no idea what I actually needed but Mike informed me what he recommended and provided a quote. Beware I went there with a check engine light had my vehicle for weeks and weeks charge me $6300 and I still got a check engine light on for the same issue so the day I was supposed to pick it up I only got to Main Street and had to turn around and bring it back to the guy told me to go ahead and drive it like that and that he would schedule me for Saturday to have his tuner take care of it. They had a guy come in and fart around with it. I waited. I couldn't take the truck that day at all because it wouldn't run it was shimmy and shaking like the motor is getting ready to fall out. I left it there for another two weeks. Nothing really got finished up or done to it when I tried to get the vehicle back he refused to give me my own vehicle even though he had been paid in full told me that I wasn't getting my vehicle back. I've been going here 25 years. It has now changed. They had my car 10 days. I was told the first day by the owner he would call me that day to let me know why my car is overheating. He knew I had to use a rental car. I called 5 times that day, and no response. The next day I called 3 times and they weren't picking up the phone. I had to block my number so they would answer my calls, wow! Then I find out they still had not even looked at my car. On Friday they called to tell me they did get my car to over heat but didn't know why. On Saturday I was called that my car was done, it was the radiator cap (really). They said o couldn't pick it up until Monday. On Monday I was heading to pick it up when I got a call saying it's not ready and needs knew shocks and something else but I cant remember. I told them I wanted to pick it up (I was going to take it somewhere else). I was told it wasn't drivable. I looked up the parts they said I needed on line and it was about $500 total. He told me labor was only a few hours so the cost was in the parts (not true). I was charged over $2,700. I talked to other places it would have been half that at worst. Who charges $144 for a radiator cap? Plus my cost for a rental car for 2 weeks. Wow!!!! Please don't go here. Other people I know have told me similar storties. read more
