This is literally the worst pharmacy I've ever been to. Aside from 1 pharmacist, the entire staff is so rude and unhelpful. No one will make eye contact with you. They routinely under fill medications with no notification, so when you go to pick them up, maybe only half or 1/3 of your medication is filled. They have now decided not to fill one of my prescriptions at all. When you ask them to help you with a Savings card or how to save money, they will roll their eyes and basically tell you to figure it out on your own. The one on 79th was actually decent before they closed. I'll never go to this one again. read more

I'm a prescriber trying to call in a prescription. They put you on hold sometimes for an hour and then hang up immediately when picking up the call. I still have not been able to call in the prescription and have tried 5 times at different times on different days. read more

Grossly grossly grossly incompetent and irresponsible. Scheduled a pharmacy delivery today at 10:11am, and my Amex was charged. Called the pharmacy beginning at 4:30pm to find out why my delivery hadn't been received, only to be left on hold for 25 minutes/ no pickup. Called again. Pharmacist seemed to not know which prescription I was talking about, and was very surprised to learn I had been charged in the morning. Kept saying there were "no papers" which is not just alarming, but perplexing. Will now have to change everything to go pick up this medication, which will take anywhere between the 5 minutes it actually should and 3 hours, as it is the WORST run pharmacy I have ever been to. Some know best how to roll their eyes but do not know the difference between generic and brand name, call the wrong provider for your medication refill, then lie to your face about the whole picture. Read all these reviews about the surly and unprofessional people who work in the pharmacy at this location. They have a litany of excuses-- all of which mean they don't do their jobs. There is only one person working there in the pharmacy with any integrity and competence at all-- Sammy. The rest have terrible attitudes and zero professionalism. If any pharmacy deserves to go out of business, it is this one. Meanwhile, many great small pharmacies have been forced to close because of these big chain stores. Holy cow use a different pharmacy if you can. Prescriptions are never actually ready, and pharmacists are horribly overwhelmed and overworked. They also refused to fill my prescription! They said they could show me an over the counter equivalent and then disappeared on me in the back, as I hear them freaking out about something else. I imagine this is another corporate America pharmacy treating their people horribly by understaffing and overworking. Support small businesses! read more

How I wish I could give it a zero. It's honesty the worst store I've entered in my entire like. My small pharmacy moved, and I was left with this. They say your prescription will be ready in 30...you come in three hours, and it's not ready...and they're angry with ME for being upset. Youi have to wait on the phone forever. How much would it cost to call people back? Too much, apparently. The women at the pharmacy counter are surly and nasty. I've only seen ONE of them smile ONCE. This is the pharmacy closest to me, so I go there for convenience. Literally every time I am there I feel like employees wish their customers would spontaneously combust, never to return. There is always a mess of a line --- once you get your turn, employees are incredibly distant. Most times they will not even look you in the eyes and get frustrated if you are buying other items from the store and trying to pay for those along with your medications. Today I went to pick up my prescription, and the woman loudly asked me what meds I was picking up in front of everyone. I don't mind people over hearing my business, but I can't believe that is protocol. Ideally, employees would seem like they care even just a bit about the customer and try to make the experience smooth. Picking up medications is an errand none of us really enjoy, but the way this place is run makes it even less enjoyable and bothersome. The people who work at the front of the store are really nice, but wow, the pharmacy is awful. They are too busy talking and joking around with each other to acknowledge the customers' existence. I don't mind customer service employees enjoying their colleagues or having fun at work, but the level of it here was super unprofessional and did not exactly inspire confidence in the medical procedures I was going there to receive. This is the worst pharmacy staff that one can encounter. There is a lack of empathy or urgency to fill a prescription and the is unable to communicate basic facts. Michelle Fong, the pharmacy manager is dismissive and when you call to speak to her staff, Katrina and Luisa are rude and hang up the phone. Yes, of course it's a Duane Reade/chain drug store in New York; but is that REALLY an excuse for the systemically bad service and attitude of the cashiers? Yeah, I hate being in your store also, but we all have jobs we don't like on any given day. Sheesh! Learn how to say "good morning" or "thanks".. I know all duane reade stores are all expensive when buying something since it also adds tax but it's reasonable. I wouldnt always recommend going to any duane reade store just to by a pack of gum or candy but theres a candy stand on 3rd avenue 75th st that sells candy and gum for 1 or 1.25 dollars but duane reades good overall :) read more

Could care less if they got the business or not. Stopped by middle of day on a Friday and pharmacy was closed for lunch hours. The epitome of not giving a $#%%. Rude people too. Id stay away from Duane Reade and give the business elsewhere. Give your business to positive and uplifting people - not these jokers. read more

I have to knock down one star because it's not 24/7 like the one on 79th/2nd. However, the pharmacist here (Joseph) is awesome. He is super friendly, follows up on stuff, and is generally extremely competent. I had some insurance issues (due to crap company coverage) and he helped me get to the bottom of it within an hour. What a great guy! The rest of the staff is also super friendly. This place being around the corner from me makes it super convenient. I just wish they didn't close so early (10pm). read more

Pharmacy staff at Duane Reade on 77th and Lexington are extremely rude. Every time I have to go there I have the same experience. They don't find my prescription I have to push them to really look and after endless frustration they find it. They pretend to not have it in the computer and don't even look up or come down to talk to you. I have never ever experienced anything like this in any store in NYC. How management can tolerate those employees is shocking to me. AT least the last time the pharmacist was eventually helping after I was told that he did not have my prescription I left the store and called my doctor who assured me that he send in the prescription. I then walked back again to the pharmacy and finally the pharmacist called my doctor as I was on the phone with him and he assured that my prescription was send the night before. Not sure how they run a business like this. From what I saw they don't care about the client or their pharmacy business at all. They have a lot of constant computer issues too. I have been called last night and today constantly with wrong information....... a nightmare company. It feels like they staff don't want to be bothered and hate their job and the world and let it out on the customer. Management needs to evaluate. I am going to find another Pharmacy. read more

I liked going to Duane Reade and I refill all my prescription there...I would recommend Duane Reade but this specific Duane Reade on 77th and Lex has a the worst rude and impolite cashiers I ever encountered. Chatting on their cell phone while serving me, throwing my change on the counter, no contact at all with me, no thank you, no greetings, just signs with her hands and head? i hate this duane reade. it's narrow, dirty, and quite frankly, the people who work here sort of creep me out for some reason. also, the pharmacy--SO.... SLOW..... i'm pretty sure that on my own, i could jump behind the pharmacy counter, navigate the various pill vials until i locate the one i need, count out my pills, and somehow figure out the computer system/cash register before the pharmacy employees could even walk over and ask if i need any help.
