Second only to their homes. I'm well aware of the exacting standards needed. The self discipline needed and the attention to detail and care for details needed to restore someone's prized luxury vehicle. Those same standards apply to working in or on someone's home. My previous reviews explain how I met Jake at Barker Tech. This is a new review with new perspective. It's been over two years since I paid Jake and shook his hand. In those two years Jake has reached out 3 times to check on my home and his work. It just seems to be how he is. In those two years I've reached out with some admittedly stupid questions and each time he's addressed my concerns without any snark or down talk that some techie guys use when speaking to plebes. I needed additional home tech stuff and naturally I reached out to Jake. His response was timely given his work load and he immediately offered elegant solutions to an inelegant problem. (Someone in my neighborhood is actively using my gravel yard as a dog pit stop and leaving me nasty surprises ). Jake offered some very clever options up to and including an outdoor speaker paired with my existing camera system (that he installed ) to politely ask the offending dog owner to remove their dog waste. Ultimately my wife vetoed the idea of me having the ability to leave audio messages for bad neighbors. But Jake's suggestion of an upgraded new camera with AI facial recognition and a wider field of view was perfect. Within a week Jake personally came back and upgraded the camera thus negating the one small blind spot the offender had been using. He kept his word. He sent me tutorials and worked with me not even being home to ensure that I was 100% satisfied with my upgraded surveillance view before leaving. Setting standards and holding yourself to them are key to excellence. Keeping your word and delivering what you promise are key to excellence. But. Excellence isn't derived from robot like adherence to guidelines. It's a combination of many intangible things. It's rare these days to encounter true excellence in almost any field. Jake at Barker Tech is an excellent example of excellence in action. Trustworthy. Reliable. Professional. Meticulous. Passionate. Informed and informative. Personable and Diligent. After they were installed, I was pleased with the sound-tech's work in terms of dialing in my amps, EQ, etc. My system sounded fabulous! 4. However, upon leaving their shop, I heard/saw rattling from both of the speaker grills that they had mis-installed. To my astonishment, I saw that the two new speakers had only been secured by two screws each into the speaker grills (instead of 4-6 as is the standard.) I immediately returned to the shop, but they said that they did not have time to secure the speakers correctly that day, and so I needed to make an appointment for another day. So, I made an appointment for the following Saturday. When I arrived, I was told that their technician did not show up for work, so I would have to make an additional appointment. (I asked why someone didn't call me as a courtesy to tell me that before I traveled the 30 minutes to get there -- no reply.) I made an appointment for the next day. Once again, they acted like they didn't even know that I had an appointment (??) I ended up waiting outside their business for 3 HOURS for them to tend to the unfinished (paid for) installation of my speakers. Finally, I realized that they (probably) had no intention of even getting to it that day, so I asked for my keys back and left. No attempt was made by their front desk to even say sorry for the wait, or let's reschedule -- nothing. 5. IMHO, this business has top-notch sound techs, mediocre installation hands, and terrible management. As a former small business owner, myself, it's clear to see that they have forgotten one of the most important mantras in business: "The customer is always right.", and "Those that have already paid, get serviced before those that haven't."

FSTG-DREAM-PRO 10G Cloud Gateway with 100+ UniFi device / 1,000+ client support and 3.5 Gbps IPS routing. was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for $379 FSTG 10Gbps SFP+ Direct Attach Cable (1meter) was quoted at $29.99 when it retails for $15 OvrC Pro Lifetime License + Hub, non-locking barrel connector power connection type was quoted as $999.99 when it retails for to $199 *note this is only available to authorized AV dealers but a 5x mark up is insane I asked why and was told it was small business markup and was told quote "It includes sourcing, shipping, platform fees, payment processing fees and more that our clients may not originally consider. The raised price also covers our regular remote network maintenance, ensuring your network continuously runs at peak performance following the conclusion of the project. A large portion of business model is our post-install support and efforts to create peace of mind for our clientele regarding our systems." However on that quote was also a $70/mo service plan that was supposed to cover the aforementioned post-install support. I asked about the double charge for support and asked if I could bring my own equipment and they ignored my email So this company is SUPER SHADY and please review your quotes and google any equipment that they tell you that you need because 1. you probably don't need it (we ended up fixing the internet ourselves) and 2. they are probably overcharging you. Just run the quote through Claude or ChatGPT and ask if there's anything concerning in it. It will do all the research for you.

I came across First Reflection AV on Yelp as I was researching businesses that could not only…read moreconfigure an AV system but could do one with in-ceiling speakers and hidden wiring. I just purchased a single family home with an open floor plan and a living room area that wasn't huge, so having any kind of exposed wiring was not an option and I didn't want to devote any floor space to speakers or speaker stands. I am also an audiophile so a fully wireless setup was not going to work for me. To top it all off my house was newly renovated and the walls recently painted so I had concerns about how many holes would have to be punched into my ceilings and walls in order to wire up the whole system. Enter Ron and his associate Joel. Ron was super responsive and after an initial consultation he put together a thorough, itemized, estimate that included his recommendations on equipment including speakers, controller, cabling (cables do matter!) and ultimately an upgraded A/V receiver. It wasn't cheap, but it was fair and in line with expectations. As for my concerns about lots of extraneous holes? I didn't need to worry. Joel deftly ran a CAT cable from the router in my office on one side of the house underneath my house all the way to the living room on the other side of the house, drilling only one small hole in the office floor and making one opening in the living room wall. Joel then leveraged that opening to skillfully run speaker wire up the wall to the ceiling where he needed to make only two additional openings (one in the wall and one in the ceiling) to run ALL the wiring necessary for 5 speakers in the ceiling for 5.1 channel audio plus 2 more speakers across the room for two channel audio in the kitchen. Only three extraneous openings for 7 in-ceiling speakers? Oh did I mention it was done in just two days?! Remarkable! As Ron had promised, they fitted and screwed the drywall pieces back into place perfectly to make it super easy for the painters to mud, sand and paint over it. You can't even tell where those holes were now. Another promise Ron made was that this system would produce the best sound quality I had ever experienced and he was right. I even prefer it to movie theater sound and Ron hasn't even calibrated my system yet (I wanted to wait for my new couch and to put down my rug since I knew that would affect the calibration process). The sound is rich, full and balanced. Not too bright sounding and not at all boomy (boomy bass is NOT an indication of good quality sound). Do not hesitate to use First Reflection AV! The investment is so worthwhile and I am BEYOND happy with the final result. I've included pictures as well (holiday decorations, dog and all).
