My favorite thing about DSW is the rewards program and periodic % off sales. Last time I was in the store, I bought some boots that were 30% (many were in the store due to a boot sale). After using a coupon to purchase my boots, I thought the price seemed high. When I asked if they were 30% off, they said I needed to tell them that I wanted the 30% off--this was not a reward or personalized coupon, it was a store wide in-person sale. It seemed strange that I would need to ask for 30% off when there were signs everywhere in the store, and I felt like such an inconvenience to the managers when they had to adjust my bill. Cashier was fairly nice, and the checkout process was super fast as we were the only ones on line. Store was also very neat and organized, with a wide selection of different shoe styles. read more

I wish I could leave half a star, I tried to return a pair of pumas I bought for work,I'm a health care worker,the shoes weren't a good fit for me being on my feet all day,took them back they refused because I did wear them once to work and they were very wrong for standing.they told you wore them and can't exchange,if I didn't wear them I wouldn't know they wasn't right for me. Some of the rudest customer "service" I've experienced -- so bad that I'll never interact with anyone from this store again. I don't want this level of abuse. The store is in a convenient location, so if I find something I like at this outlet, I'll order online for delivery at the other location in my area. We ordered two pair of shoes, both of which were available in the store -- although the staff couldn't find one pair. That happens sometimes, so not a huge deal. What was awful started with the teenage check-out girl: when I wanted to look at the shoes I had already paid for, she wouldn't let go of the box. We started a tug-of-war. When I said, "Let me look at my shoes. I don't know why you're trying to keep them from me with this tug of war. That's not very nice," she said NOTHING in response. That was just the start. Then who I assume is the manager came to "help." My husband said FIVE times to all staff present, "The shoes are here. I know exactly where they are. I can go get them." Instead, the manager sent a third employee to go look for them, never acknowledging what my husband said. I said, "Honey, why don't you go get the shoes. I don't know why they're ignoring you," to which the manager replied, "We're not ignoring him." "Yes, you are," I said. "I don't know what's going on. It started really badly when the checker started a tug of war with me over the shoes. When I said to her 'that's not nice,' she said nothing -- no apology. And now you guys just aren't listening to my husband about the shoes." He apologized, but it felt rote and insincere. You can tell when someone means it and when they don't. The end of the story is that the manager said we would be refunded for the second pair of shoes. So far the $50 refund isn't showing up on our bank statement, so we'll see. He gave us no receipt for the refund, and I was too upset by that time to even think of that. Regardless, the entire experience was so negative that even potentially saving $50 won't get me to interact with employees in this store again. It's not worth my mental health. read more

DSW carries a good selection of a wide variety of shoes (dress, casual, athletic) although the Designer in the name may be a misnomer. Check out the clearance rack in back. I am not accustomed to reviewing franchised shoe stores, but as one who does decidedly not like to shop, I feel a shout out in order for DSW. I have shopped here and in Chicago for shoes and boots on a number of occasions. The combination of a non-claustrophobic store layout, a streamlined display, and a reasonably-priced selection of various name brands, I was happy as a clam as I shopped here recently for athletic shoes. With a narrowed down selection, and easy sale pricing, I found a great pair of Nike shoes for $45.00. Signing up at the register for their loyalty card got me a $10.00 off coupon for my next visit. Even on Saturday, the store was not crowded. Staff was available to check inventory for my size. As a non-shopper, I couldn't have been more pleased with the process or the price. I'll be heading back here with my coupon sooner than later. read more

SO unprofessional! I called to ask a simple question and the woman Tiara or Kiara or something couldn't even be bothered to listen what I had to say, immediately started speaking with another associate with me on the line. Interrupted me twice in mid-sentence so she couldn't even get the gist of what I was asking. And said there was a lot going on at the time. Seriously? Then ask a customer if they can hold a moment so you can actually give them your attention. Really rude, turn-off customer service. read more

Tons of shoes for women, some for men, zilch for kids. Huge clearance section, but not all deals are really that great. Good place to go if you're pretty self-serve and have a general idea of what shoes cost elsewhere. Their rewards program is pretty generous- $10 back for every couple hundred you spend- not a hard limit to meet. read more

I've been a Converse All Star loyal customer for at least 15 years, but the last two pairs of all stars that I have purchased from DSW have had the sole of the shoe come unglued from the sidewall! WTF!? I think it's time to move on to another brand and store. So long and thanks for all the shoes. read more
