I knew my attic had needed insulation for years, and with today's heating and electric costs, I…read morefinally decided it was time to get it done. I spent a lot of time researching companies because I wanted a local, family-owned business with an excellent reputation that was also affordable. Marty gave me the estimate and was right on time, which immediately gave me confidence in choosing Reilly Insulation in Willow Grove. Mike and Colin did the installation, and they were punctual, professional, meticulous, and took great pride in making sure everything was done correctly. They kept the work area clean, explained what they were doing, and I felt completely confident that my home was in good hands. I'm also planning to have them do my crawlspace encapsulation because SO much freezing cold air comes in through the floor and crawlspace in the winter. It's great to know they do spray foam as well as other applications, so I can trust them with more than one project. If you're considering attic insulation, I highly recommend supporting this outstanding local company. They earned my trust, and I couldn't be happier with the experience. Five stars all the way. Thank you, Mike, Colin, Marty, and everyone at Reilly Insulation!

USA Insulation of Philadelphia - USA Premium Foam..for Comfort, Savings & Energy Efficiency

USA Insulation of Philadelphia

After many years of having cold bedrooms over our garage, and my attempts to fix the problem myself…read moreresulting in utter failure, my wife and I finally bit the bullet and hired USA Insulation. I saw a TV ad and gave a call. They are pretty much the only game in town for spray foam. The sales rep came over and gave the area a once-over, described the process, and felt that the spray foam would be of benefit for our needs. He answered our questions, but I did have a concern as I pointed out and even showed him on my phone that they did not have an "A" rating on the Better Business Bureau website. Actually, no rating but there was only one listed complaint in the past months dealing with a third-party contractor that was not shown as cleared or addressed. The rep said he would get us an answer about that. Another issue was that USA Insulation uses third-party contractors. The rep said that they also actually have their own trucks that work for their company but the wait for those trucks is much longer than the others. I told him that if we hired them, that we would want their trucks, their people, and to put it in the contract that no third-party contractors would do the work. He agreed to to that. A day or two later we were emailed the quote and contract which included what we asked for. Additionally, the rep said that he spoke to the owner, and since you have to pay a fee to be included in the Better Business Bureau, that USA Insulation was instead concentrating on reviews on Google and other websites like Yelp. I was concerned about this, and I still don't agree with that business decision, but my wife and I really did not need to go through another cold house winter. We signed the contract and got a start date. We also decided to use their financing for several years so we had low monthly payments. We were expecting an 8am start time on our date. That came and went. 9am came and went. We called and were told that we didn't get a confirmation call the day before because of an illness in the family and the truck was down due to the cold - the generator was not working to make the foam. The team was trying to fix it and they would still be coming over. Kareem and his team of Joe, Tony, and Hector finally got to my home and got to business. We had a discussion about the work, and I was extremely pleased with Kareem's professionalism and how everything was prepped before they actually got started. I observed the entire job and helped where I could as they went along and had some good conversation. The job involved drilling 2" holes between each stud and then inserting the tube to fill below and then above them. The holes are plugged with a styrofoam piece and then patched over. It has to be noted that the patching work left something to be desired. It is not done to a paint-ready finish. That would mean at least two more layers of sanding and patching before being ready to paint. USA Insulation does not do that, and they could have done a better job on the first level of patching leaving more work for me and my wife. I was glad that we were intending to paint the bedrooms anyway. The team could also have come from the outside by removing siding and then replacing it back, but I wanted it from the inside as I did not know how well the siding would be put back and how it would hold up. Disaster struck with only about eight holes left to fill in my garage ceiling and the job being finished. The generator again died. No one on the team shut it down while they were cleaning the gun; it just stopped working. Joe called the owner to explain what happened, and we tried one solution to instead plug the compressor and other parts into my house which I was ok to do and offered. Unfortunately, it tripped the fuse box and we tried again and it did the same thing. The team said they would instead have to come back a couple of days later or possibly the next day if they finished their other job quickly. We were planning for a weekend date to return, but lucky for us they did come back the next day and completed the work in a short period of time. The problems that caused them to be late and then had to return were no fault of their own and they tried to resolve the problems as best they could. I tried to help as much as I could, too. I think the patching needs a lot of improvement but the contract does not guarantee paint-ready walls. It still could have been better. Overall, I would hire USA Insulation for your insulation needs. It's not cheap. Make sure to use their trucks and people and not have a third-party do the work. The Dream Team of Kareem and Joe and others were very professional and skilled at their parts of the job. They deserve a raise or at least a bonus! Best of all, my bedrooms are not cold. Hope this saves me some money in the long run!

Nothing to say about the services themselves, but my experience with one of the company's drivers…read morewas very disappointing. A truck from this company parked in the middle of the road on one of the busiest streets in Fishtown, despite there being an available parking spot nearby. The driver refused to move or park properly, which blocked traffic and created an unnecessary issue. He was also argumentative and disrespectful to people who asked him to move. The driver was argumentative, and inconsiderate.

This is a second review for Alligood Energy. On my first review (about a year ago), I had…read moreinsulation blown into my ceiling. I saw a big difference in the warmth of my second floor, but my rooms were still drafty. Mainly because the walls needed to be insulated as well. Really getting tried of a cold drafty house, I decided to bite the bullet and give Alligood Energy another call. Andrew answered! He saw that I was a repeat customer and remembered me and my home. He didn't have to come back a second time to give me a price and honored the quote he gave from last year and even gave me a discount for being a repeat customer! We made a date for the installation into the walls. The problem with having this project done in the winter is contingent on the weather. The temperature has to be above freezing so the foam insulation can flow. This particular day we were good to go and something happened to their equipment and unfortunately the work had to be postponed. I was real disappointed because we had moved furniture and had to clear out any closets that was connected to an outside wall. Andrew was great! He sincerely apologized, put me as a top priority (making sure I was first on his list when the equipment got fixed) and gave me and additional discount for my inconvenience! He called in a few days to let me know everything was fixed. They came out the next day first thing in the morning. They laid down plastic over all my furniture. Moved anything that still needed to be moved. Like I referenced in my first review, they had to put nickel size holes in all the walls that were getting the insulation blown in. They were all moving ( 4 men) like a well oiled machine. It took exactly 3 hours for them to finish my 3 bedrooms, living room, dining room and kitchen walls. Even moved and got behind my dishwasher. They went back and plastered all the holes that they made. They also took up all the plastic and cleaned up after themselves. Now we just have to paint :( My home is much warmer now and hopefully more cool in the summer with the air conditioner. I highly recommend this company because their prices are fair, they are respectful of your home, they communicate well with their customers and are friendly and very professional.

This was the first estimate I ever paid for but it saved us thousands. We had Alligood do an…read moreassessment in order to quote us a price to insulate and spray foam a 1960s house. What we got from the estimate was a thorough review (including a thermal imager) of our house and a lot of pointers where we could make cheap improvements (such as sealing cinder block in the basement). He also noted that many of our main and lower level walls were too thin to really make spray foam air sealing worthwhile (and that many weren't losing much heat at all). In the end, we insulated our attic and air sealed the upstairs walls at a much lower price. The job was done well, and the difference in temperature was day and night. There were a lot of holes to patch (and the patch work they did left some to be desired) but it was worth it. The only reason for knocking a star off was the work was subcontracted, with nobody telling us up front that would be the case. I would just prefer to know if the guys selling the product are with the same company doing the work.
