We had just sold our home to an FHA buyer and were beginning to go through the contingency period…read more I was expecting that our roof would get flagged by either the home inspector or the FHA appraiser, as it was 9 years old and we had never done anything to maintain it. There were no leaks, or anything visibly wrong that we could see, but I started to reach out to roofers anyway to see if they could just come out to look at my roof and let me know what, if anything, needed to be done. I got an email from Derrick the same day I submitted a request for an estimate through the website. He said he'd be glad to come out and have a look and let me know what needed to be done. He ended up not being able to come out for over a week, because it rained pretty much every single day. But in the meantime, during that week, I got estimates back from two other roofers, and the home inspection was completed. The two other roofers both gave me quotes for full roof replacement, full skylight replacement, and all kinds of stuff I wasn't expecting to need, totaling over $2500. But when Derrick got back to me with his estimate, it was almost $2000 cheaper - and I had to do a double take! I thought for sure he'd left off a 1 at the beginning or something. I had been bracing myself to shell out thousands of dollars for a new roof. But then I read his estimate, and compared it to the home inspector's report that I'd just gotten back, and guess what? The items that the home inspector said we needed to address were the EXACT SAME ITEMS that Derrick said we needed to address (aka NOT a new roof - just some maintenance to extend the life). I can't even begin to tell you the amount of relief I felt! I even exchanged emails with Derrick to make sure - to really make sure - that this was correct. I sent him the inspector's report, and he confirmed that his estimate would address everything the inspector was asking us to address. I even sent him another one of the roofer's estimates, which had pointed out something about delaminated plywood sheathing, and asked if he'd noticed anything else like that up there. He said he didn't but he'd be happy to have another look. He came back the next day and completed the job! Completed - the job - the next day! Another thing I should mention is that he included pictures of my roof in his email to me with the estimate attached, and no other roofer I contacted did this. He sent me 'after' pictures when the work was completed and I was able to clearly see what work was performed and that it was indeed complete. I can't say enough good things about this company - it was such a pleasure to work with someone like Derrick at a time when, as sellers, we are most vulnerable to being taken advantage of to simply get through the contingency period. It was refreshing to know that we were dealing with an honest tradesman, which seems to be a rarity these days. I was so impressed with his honesty and work that I shared his name and number with my realtor. She said whenever she sells a house in Philly, she has a hard time recommending a roofer because she's had so many bad experiences. I hope this ends up bringing Derrick more business. We booked with them to clean on a Saturday afternoon and explained to Jason Alexander that we had booked a uhaul to move later that day so we would need a team of people, not just one person. He reassured us that for the $240 deep clean it would be 3 people and since our house was empty it shouldn't take long. Since we were moving from Philly to NJ I asked if I could leave the door unlocked since the house was empty and we were moving that day with a small child. He said no I needed to be there to do a walk through the house with the cleaning team. I arranged for a sitter for my son as noon is is nap time and headed to NJ to let the cleaners in. To my surprise they were a no show. I waited about 20 min then called Jason Alexander who sounded like he just woke up from a nap. I explained I had driven to NJ to let the cleaners in and he said something along the lines of oh, yeah my bad, they called out. I immediately started panicking as the house was dirty and we needed it cleaned as we were moving in that day, which he knew. He was very nonchalant about people not wanting to work and it's hard running a business when people don't want to work. Well that doesn't explain why he didn't call me so I could make arrangements with proper notice about people calling out. I shouldn't have to call him after our scheduled appointment that he already took a deposit for $160.00, to have him tell me then. Not to mention his tune completely changed from over eager and singing praises about his cleaning company when we booked, to "the best he can do is rebook us or give us $15 off. Which is ironic bc his website charges $50.00 if you are late for your appointment and you have to reschedule. I had to literally beg him over the phone to find someone to clean our house because all of our furniture was getting moved in later that day. He kept saying how times are hard, people don't want to work, it's hard to run a business, it was a joke. And our backs were against the wall as he had our deposit already and it was now way past our appointment time with no one to clean our house. He finally found ONE person. Who they did a great job, that is why he is getting one star. She did 5 star work however, we were moving in while she was there as it was one person not a team of cleaners like he promised. So wet floors were being walked on as furniture was being moved into the house. She was cleaning while we were moving stuff in because that's the only choice we had. I wish I never went with this company. Or that they had the common decency to make me aware of the fact his team called out. AVOiD AT ALL COSTS!!!

Though the price seemed high, I decided to work with them because they came recommended by my property management company. However, when I inspected the house after they informed me that the job was completed, I was appalled. I had been clear that I needed all the walls wiped down and the baseboards cleaned so we could paint the next day, yet there was clear dirt on all of the baseboards and visible dust on the walls. They also failed to clean one of our two toilets, and they left tons of visible grease on the walls on either side of the oven. As I walked through the house, I saw more and more problems: clumps of dust bunnies left in almost every corner, cobwebs left hanging from light fixtures, dust left on top of every doorframe, dirt left in almost every window sill, etc. I immediately sent a message to the company expressing my disappointment, and even though they knew I was dissatisfied, they processed the full payment on my credit card that evening. Then, they refused to issue me even a partial refund, even though they clearly had not satisfied the agreed upon scope of work in the time they had agreed to perform it in. They also sent me an email falsely accusing me of refusing a walkthrough with them (I did a thorough walkthrough the following morning with one of their employees) and refusing to take any responsibility. A horrible business!
