My cousin has a fairly large backyard that was horribly overgrown and out-of-control. She's elderly, and asked for my help in finding a landscaper that could deal with her problem. Based on Yelp reviews, I recommended Flat Rate Labor. They were responsive and gave her a quote based on her yard size and situation. They arrived promptly, and did a fantastic job of manicuring trees, dealing with mounds of huge weeds, and generally tidying her property. She is extremely pleased with Eric and Mary's work, and asked me to provide this review on her behalf. I'm glad I was able to find this wonderful company for her, and thrilled that their service completely met her expectations. Thank you, Flat Rate Labor! read more

Eric is always quick to reply, always professional and does an outstanding job. I use their team multiple times a year for my back patio. They trim the overgrown weeds coming over the fence, pull weeds in the small dirt area I have, clean and wash off the slabs, sometimes even trim the tree branches if they're low enough. Never disappointed. read more

Eric and company did an exemplary job ridding my back yard of unwanted vegetation. It was not an easy job! They were very thorough and even cleaned out our tree beds in the front even though that wasn't the job I hired them for...was saving that for another day. He also coached me on how to prevent regrowth in the future. Much appreciated! read more

I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Eric was easy to communicate with, gave a precise quote based on the info and pictures I sent, got out to me on ridiculously short notice, arrived 10 minutes early, mastered my horrific parking situation assessed the gargantuan task in person, gave me a time frame and completed the job within it. Literally going to recommend them to anyone who needs help! read more

I am typically not one to write reviews online, but wanted to give credit to Eric and his family for the awesome job they did cleaning up my backyard. Not only did they complete all of the work we agreed to upfront (at a rate roughly half of what other contractors were proposing), they also went above and beyond by offering me gardening tips and showing me how to manage my yard for the rest of the summer. After sparking some new rock gardening ideas, I am definitely planning on working with Eric again and highly recommend his team! read more

We hired Eric and crew to clear out some of the overgrowth in back of our yard as we wanted some more space back there. They did SUCH an amazing job, we immediately hired them again to clear out even more. The work was perfect, and we plan to sing Flat Rate Labor's praises to anyone and everyone that needs any of their services. Highly professional, extremely personable, quick and clean workers, and the price is right! Would hire again in a heartbeat! read more

Beyond happy with the amazing job that they did with our one flower bed! Eric was beyond kind and helpful during the whole process, he even explained how we are to pay which made it easy! Prices are the best and not expensive at all. Great job! :) I haven't stopped talking about them to my office and suggested the company be put in our reference book! I've used Eric on 3 separate occasions for yard clean up. He is so professional and meticulous with his work. He also discards of any yard clippings for you, leaving your home and yard spotless. He's the only one I trust and will continue to use in the future! Not to mention he was so pleasant and puts everyone who interacts with him in a great mood! I must of forgot to leave a review and I'm sorry! Eric helped prepare my yard for the summer season last year. He was able to clean up a nuisance tree and cut down all the weeds growing over my fence. They were professional and accommodating! Awesome work all the way around! read more

What happened to all the other reviews? You can't tell me they were ALL fake! Well rest assured this is not a fake. I used them and, like all the other reviews that are now gone, I thought they were great. Everyone hates moving, especially your friends and family that get roped into helping you! For $40/hr. I got two hard working guys that didn't stop till the job was done. So save your back and the backs of your friends and family and give Flat Rate a call. read more

Eric and his family were amazing at what they do. Eric was very accommodating and responsive with re-scheduling due to bad weather. They showed up on time and took care of my overgrown backyard in just under 2 hours. They also gave me tips on maintaining the yard. Definitely will contact these guys again for regular maintenance! I can't even express how happy I am with Eric and his people. I live in Fishtown and recently purchased a new house with a pretty big yard for the city. The yard was mostly finished, with the back grass area being a large hill, with tons of debris around the corners (bricks, broken tile - or so I thought that's all was there...) In addition, there's a closed off "side portion" of the yard that appears to have been just closed off because it was filled, six feet high, with refuse, bricks, large rocks, pallets, wooden benches, a 14 foot 50yr old cloth awning with all of the metal attached, and way more - it was 6 feet high with old construction supplies and trash. THEN... I wanted the large hill basically leveled so it would be a usable area. Eric found that the hill was actually created out of more garbage, pallets, wooden beams, PVC piping, frying pans (no lie), etc... He and his people REMOVED ALL OF THE REFUSE, laid all of the brick that was lying around in giant piles in the back yard, and created a salvaged brick paving path and floor base in the area that was filled with refuse! It's literally a 200sq foot storage area for me now, even tucked out of site. They removed so much trash, that not only is the area in the back level now, it's actually level with the rest of the yard. The yard has about a third more usable space than it had. Eric even added "small jobs" throughout the day at no extra charge (laying the brick pavers, removing refuse from under the ground that he found randomly, digging up 2 evergreens and a small tree, and replanting them for me before he left, simply because I said that I was about to do it... I can't say enough positive things about Eric and his crew. Friendly, trustworthy, didn't take a break the whole day, and surpassed my expectations of what I thought he could do with that area of the back yard... Even the mosquitoes and bugs are gone (they must have been living in the refuse in the side area.) I can literally use my yard now, and he did all of the work in one day. He responded to my email within an hour, visited in the evening the following day for an in-person quote (because you couldn't see the extent of the refuse from the pics) and did the work just days later. Not only will I recommend Eric to anyone that needs a service like that, I'll also be contacting him with any potential jobs I have in the future. AWESOME JOB! THANKS ERIC!!! read more

I ordered some book shelves from a thrift shop that did not have delivery service. None of the movers want to take my business. Eric at Flat Rate Labor returned my call in 5 minutes and in a few hours, had the bookshelves delivered to my place. For someone to very quickly come and do business when other movers wouldn't return my calls speaks volumes of Flat Rate Labor. Not to mention, Flat Rate Labor is very inexpensive. I did check some of the other sites and found Flat Rate beat their prices. Flat Rate Labor is an one man show. Eric runs everything, but he is excellent at setting up appointments, taking phone calls and coming down. And since most of us aren't experts at moving, he comes with truck, items and stuff to make moving a breeze. Will use him again when I need to move. read more

My husband I highly recommend Flat Rate Labor. Our yard was an overgrown mess, we had many bags of yard waste, a broken metal fence, and piles of red brick. They took the fence down, got rid of a thick tree stump and any branches that would be in the way of a new fence, and gave us tips to build a new fence. They let us borrow their tools to do a few other things in the yard while they worked on loading the truck with the bricks, yard waste, and metal fence. They are such a nice family and did not try to up-sell us, I actually think they did so much more than we paid them for. We accomplished more in those few hours with them, than in months of working in our backyard alone. This team has the tools and experience to help, and they did so at a price WAY CHEAPER than it would cost for us to rent the tools and do this ourselves. With the time we saved, I'm kicking myself for not getting their help when we first started the project. We've had a few other people do work for us, and we would have saved a ton of money if we had just called Flat Rate Labor at the beginning. read more

Eric and his team came out and completely cleared out my badly overgrown front and side yard. My allergies make gardening and nightmare and what would have taken me two days of work and another week of recovery the crew at Flat Rate Labor did in a couple hours. I didn't personally use this business- but upon seeing the excellent work they do, I wouldn't hesitate to call them. They cleaned up a property on my street that hadn't been touched for six months (or longer.) Beautiful job! I had no idea this property could look so good! Great job. read more

As other reviewers have said, Eric and Mari do excellent work, I highly recommend working with them. They responded quickly and quoted me a price that was significantly lower than the other estimates I had received. Communication about the job was clear and prompt, we were able to schedule it for two days later. The crew arrived on time and got the job done quickly and well. When I returned to my yard they had not only removed what I asked them to but cleaned up all debris, raked the area and used a leaf blower to finish up, leaving the yard cleaner than it was before. It was clear they take pride in a job well done. They offer many payment options which was very convenient. Later that night Eric e-mailed me a photo of them with the junk they removed at the landfill, showing me they disposed of it safely. I feel great about supporting this local family business. When I told Eric that I contacted them in part because I saw in their photos that they employ women and people of color, he told me, "We like giving people a chance regardless of age, gender, sexuality, etc as long as they're "willing to work hard for good pay"." This is the type of business I want to support and on top of that they were easy and pleasant to work with and are excellent at what they do. read more

I am so so glad to come across this couple to remove some junk from my home! After spending countless google searches and yelp searches, I finally decided to message them and they responded promptly! I love that their service is one of the most affordable you can find and quickest! They were able to come get some junk out of my home within two days that I messaged them and came to my house just on time. They got the work done in less than in hour!! AMAZING!!! Not only that, but Eric offered to take down this HUGE dresser on the second floor (lots of heavy lifting!!!) and was able to break it down and fit it onto his truck although I said it wouldn't fit; he made it fit!! They are such lovely people and I will absolutely use their service again and recommend you to do so too!!! read more

Eric and Mari, oh my, where do I start? Genuine, honest, professional, friendly, dependable, hard hard workers. What a team. They have "heart" for what they do and it certainly shows. They lowered my blood pressure by at least 100 points within just an hour. I had a pretty massive time sensitive parent house clean out and they just came in and accommodated the best they could. I was somewhat embarrassed by my situation, but they assured me it was not a big deal and we would get through it. As they went along if they questioned something they asked, they didn't just make a judgement call. Eric must be really good at the game of "Memory" because when I took him through my nightmare and pointed at things saying "this, but not this has to go" he remembered everything. Mari, was like a magic act. I would see a room full of stuff in one instance and then turnaround and she had it out and ready to go to pasture. Great local business people, give them yours. read more

They didn't have the courtesy to return my email or phone call. How anyone could give them a good rating is beyond me.

5 stars for honesty. I have a masonry job which requires to be completed. Just called them to ask for a quote, they clearly offered a hand but explained their skills patiently. I have been cheated before and hence I appreciate the honestly. He was clearly not just after money but wanted to do a good job. Kudos for that attitude read more

I'm so happy I found Flat Rate Labor. Our rowhouse yard was overgrown and had dead trees in the back and an enormous shrub (tree) growing in a small patch in the front garden. Eric and the crew got to work right away - they were even able to get us in sooner than expected. Within a few hours, both the front and back yards looked a hundred times better. Mari gave me tips on dealing with mosquitoes, using lavender and lemon thyme. The price was very fair and everyone was so pleasant. I was happy and relieved to have the trees and debris gone.
