My husband I highly recommend Flat Rate Labor. Our yard was an overgrown mess, we had many bags of yard waste, a broken metal fence, and piles of red brick. They took the fence down, got rid of a thick tree stump and any branches that would be in the way of a new fence, and gave us tips to build a new fence. They let us borrow their tools to do a few other things in the yard while they worked on loading the truck with the bricks, yard waste, and metal fence. They are such a nice family and did not try to up-sell us, I actually think they did so much more than we paid them for. We accomplished more in those few hours with them, than in months of working in our backyard alone. This team has the tools and experience to help, and they did so at a price WAY CHEAPER than it would cost for us to rent the tools and do this ourselves. With the time we saved, I'm kicking myself for not getting their help when we first started the project. I can't even express how happy I am with Eric and his people. I live in Fishtown and recently purchased a new house with a pretty big yard for the city. The yard was mostly finished, with the back grass area being a large hill, with tons of debris around the corners (bricks, broken tile - or so I thought that's all was there...) In addition, there's a closed off "side portion" of the yard that appears to have been just closed off because it was filled, six feet high, with refuse, bricks, large rocks, pallets, wooden benches, a 14 foot 50yr old cloth awning with all of the metal attached, and way more - it was 6 feet high with old construction supplies and trash. THEN... I wanted the large hill basically leveled so it would be a usable area. Eric found that the hill was actually created out of more garbage, pallets, wooden beams, PVC piping, frying pans (no lie), etc... He and his people REMOVED ALL OF THE REFUSE, laid all of the brick that was lying around in giant piles in the back yard, and created a salvaged brick paving path and floor base in the area that was filled with refuse! It's literally a 200sq foot storage area for me now, even tucked out of site. They removed so much trash, that not only is the area in the back level now, it's actually level with the rest of the yard. The yard has about a third more usable space than it had. Eric even added "small jobs" throughout the day at no extra charge (laying the brick pavers, removing refuse from under the ground that he found randomly, digging up 2 evergreens and a small tree, and replanting them for me before he left, simply because I said that I was about to do it... I can't say enough positive things about Eric and his crew. Friendly, trustworthy, didn't take a break the whole day, and surpassed my expectations of what I thought he could do with that area of the back yard... Even the mosquitoes and bugs are gone (they must have been living in the refuse in the side area.) I can literally use my yard now, and he did all of the work in one day. He responded to my email within an hour, visited in the evening the following day for an in-person quote (because you couldn't see the extent of the refuse from the pics) and did the work just days later. I ordered some book shelves from a thrift shop that did not have delivery service. None of the movers want to take my business. Eric at Flat Rate Labor returned my call in 5 minutes and in a few hours, had the bookshelves delivered to my place. For someone to very quickly come and do business when other movers wouldn't return my calls speaks volumes of Flat Rate Labor. Not to mention, Flat Rate Labor is very inexpensive. I did check some of the other sites and found Flat Rate beat their prices. Flat Rate Labor is an one man show. Eric runs everything, but he is excellent at setting up appointments, taking phone calls and coming down. As other reviewers have said, Eric and Mari do excellent work, I highly recommend working with them. They responded quickly and quoted me a price that was significantly lower than the other estimates I had received. Communication about the job was clear and prompt, we were able to schedule it for two days later. The crew arrived on time and got the job done quickly and well. When I returned to my yard they had not only removed what I asked them to but cleaned up all debris, raked the area and used a leaf blower to finish up, leaving the yard cleaner than it was before. It was clear they take pride in a job well done. They offer many payment options which was very convenient. Later that night Eric e-mailed me a photo of them with the junk they removed at the landfill, showing me they disposed of it safely. I feel great about supporting this local family business. Eric and Mari, oh my, where do I start? Genuine, honest, professional, friendly, dependable, hard hard workers. What a team. They have "heart" for what they do and it certainly shows. They lowered my blood pressure by at least 100 points within just an hour. I had a pretty massive time sensitive parent house clean out and they just came in and accommodated the best they could. I was somewhat embarrassed by my situation, but they assured me it was not a big deal and we would get through it. As they went along if they questioned something they asked, they didn't just make a judgement call. Eric must be really good at the game of "Memory" because when I took him through my nightmare and pointed at things saying "this, but not this has to go" he remembered everything. I'm so happy I found Flat Rate Labor. Our rowhouse yard was overgrown and had dead trees in the back and an enormous shrub (tree) growing in a small patch in the front garden.
