At the time, I didn't realize this was an astronomical amount for this replacement but my neighbors told me afterwards that I was taken advantage of because this part generally was under $50.00. I contacted the business and was told that the part was $400 and the rest was labor. I complained about amount and was offered a service warranty for a 20+ year old system, which I did not need. I also was told that the item had a lifetime warranty, which I did not ask for. I would NEVER had agreed to replacement of this part had I known how much they were going to charge me. I would have gotten a second opinion. After extensive conversation with Patrick Olszewski (field service manager), he said I would receive a refund in the amount of $250.00, which I have yet to receive. This conversation took place on 9/3/2026. I have spoken with several different people in this organization trying to get this resolved. I received an invoice (not itemized) that says I was due a refund but didn't get it. Think twice before doing business with this company. ADDENDUM: I have finally received reimbursement.

What was very nice was that a service contract from a previous owner is still in effect and they do not force "x" visits a year. So the maintenance aspect was free, as will be my next one, and my decision when it should be done. They let me know this with a smile, the previous owners were long gone! Thanks! It finally turned into an iceberg in mid-November during the cold snap (reversing valve sensor inop). It took a couple visits to diagnose, acquire parts, and fix all the issues, and Doug's team kept us updated on progress throughout. However, the best part was when James asked if the unit was still under warranty. We checked and it was, with only two weeks remaining on the covered period! So all the parts were covered and the work was completed before the deadline. Considering how much time they spent I was very pleased with the final bill. I called Barrett heating and cooling on a Friday morning, when we woke up realizing our furnace was…read morenot working. A human being answered the phone, and I spoke directly to the technician. After explaining all the things we had tried, the technician told me he would call me back as soon as he had a time slot available, and would come by. Within two hours, I had a phone call telling me he could make a house call in 15 minutes. Brendan arrived promptly and assessed the furnace. He indicated he would need to step out to pick up a part, but that he would be back within the hour to repair it. And he was absolutely true to his word. The entire repair, from assessment to clean up, took less than two hours, and our furnace was back up and running. There aren't many repair places you can call who will send a service tech out the same day, and actually fix the problem same day. We were extremely pleased with their professionalism, and their timeliness. I would not hesitate to recommend them!

They do not consider this an emergency. The heat is making us sick. They DO NOT have 24/7 service. We called at 9:00 a.m. on Friday. The guy came out Friday afternoon but could not fix the NEW air conditioner. He had to order a part, he said. Their office is closed on Saturday and Sunday. You can only talk to a call center in a foreign country and they cannot help you. If you are lucky you might get to talk to Tammee as she seems to be the only person there who has any authority. But Tammee says there is nothing she can do. The owner is Mark Banks, I am told, but he is not available. Trust me, Aire Serv of Western North Carolina is not reliable.
