At the time, I didn't realize this was an astronomical amount for this replacement but my neighbors told me afterwards that I was taken advantage of because this part generally was under $50.00. I contacted the business and was told that the part was $400 and the rest was labor. I complained about amount and was offered a service warranty for a 20+ year old system, which I did not need. I also was told that the item had a lifetime warranty, which I did not ask for. I would NEVER had agreed to replacement of this part had I known how much they were going to charge me. I would have gotten a second opinion. After extensive conversation with Patrick Olszewski (field service manager), he said I would receive a refund in the amount of $250.00, which I have yet to receive. This conversation took place on 9/3/2026. I have spoken with several different people in this organization trying to get this resolved. I received an invoice (not itemized) that says I was due a refund but didn't get it. Think twice before doing business with this company. ADDENDUM: I have finally received reimbursement.

While also doing the service call for the heater pilot light so I would have hot water. Which was a modest price service call, while giving the pilot light instructions given if it happens again. What was very nice was that a service contract from a previous owner is still in effect and they do not force "x" visits a year. So the maintenance aspect was free, as will be my next one, and my decision when it should be done. They let me know this with a smile, the previous owners were long gone! Thanks! To make a long story short, Sugar Hollow Solar came in about more than 20% less than the next lowest estimate, and they were available 4 months sooner. One company couldn't provide the Tesla system, and they recommended Sugar Hollow! You know you're good when your competition sends you business. There were some issues with our wiring, but their electricians found a good work-around. They came when they said they would, and got the job done quickly and with minimum fuss. They said the Tesla system was so well-designed, that I wouldn't even realize there was a power outage. Indeed, we had a power outage the week after the installation, and sure enough, I got an email from Duke Progress to let me know. I couldn't tell otherwise. We also had their engineering people out to check on our existing system. Once again, great service. Now if only we had great sunshine every day...

It finally turned into an iceberg in mid-November during the cold snap (reversing valve sensor inop). It took a couple visits to diagnose, acquire parts, and fix all the issues, and Doug's team kept us updated on progress throughout. However, the best part was when James asked if the unit was still under warranty. We checked and it was, with only two weeks remaining on the covered period! So all the parts were covered and the work was completed before the deadline. Considering how much time they spent I was very pleased with the final bill.
