Dryer vent cleaning: something you would not even think to do until there's an issue. I had my dryer vent cleaned more than 5 years ago, because my condo association required it at that time. I remembered that it was an owner operated company with inexpensive rates and I had no complaints what so ever Since then, I always thought I should schedule another cleaning, but again, not something that is never a priority. Until, of course, I put a load of wet clothes in my dryer and everything was still cold and damp after an hour. Not knowing what the problem was, I first called an appliance repair guy to check things out. He had to replace the thermal fuse that had blown, which was caused by the lint buildup in my dryer vent. He told me to get the dryer vent cleaned ASAP as to not cause any further damage to my dryer.
I racked my brain trying to remember the name of the dryer vent company I had used previously. Every listing on yelp was for large companies with not so great reviews and questionable "deals" on their websites. I distinctly remembered how pleased I was with the place from years ago, the owner himself and the job he did. I did a bit of searching and found a listing online that sounded familiar. I left a message and Tom called me back a few hours later. After talking for a few minutes, I quickly realized it was the same guy from 5+ years ago, score! He even remembered my condo complex and having done several jobs here over the years. Better yet, he quoted me the same price I paid all those years ago. Wow.
His brother works for him and was the one who came out this time, on a Saturday, and only 2 days after my initial call. He took his shoes off upon entering my place (without being asked to), was quiet, very clean and efficient. He let me know what he was doing as he went along and completed the job in about an hour.
