I'm a huge fan of the Drybar "chain" and love the Sunset location. I was happy to see that they have set up shop in both Scottsdale and Phoenix, and have been to both locations recently. What I really like about Drybar is that you can pretty much guarantee that the staff has been well trained in the Drybar way, and for the most part, you get a pretty great blow out no matter which location you choose. Today I was seen by Sarah (at the Phoenix spot) who did an awesome job! She knew exactly what I was asking for, and not only did she do a great job, but she was quick and careful. I liked her attitude, as she was friendly and happy to be there. The girl who checked me in was very pleasant as well and I did not have to wait past my appointment time to be seen. As usual, the decor is beautiful and I really love that there is a window in the back where you get your hair washed. It really opens the space. Another plus - parking is a breeze since it's in a huge shopping area. If you live in Phoenix and love blow outs, you have to try this Drybar! read more

I had such high expectations for this place, I think that's where I went wrong... One of my friends (who was having a dinner party that night) told me about this place just opening up near my house. She recommended it to me and asked me to join her and her sister in their appointments that day. It sounded like a great concept and the fact that blow out lasts more than one day intrigued me. So I called an made an appointment for later that day, which was one day after the grand opening. My appointment was at 3pm but I arrived 10 minutes early and they took me right away. The girl who saw me (Paola) was nice but right of the bat she seemed like she didn't know what she was doing by the way she spoke to me. She took me to her chair and explained to me how the service worked and had me pick a blow out style, i choose the cosmopolitan but with my front hair curled away from my face and my part down the middle. She took me to get my hair washed, (this is where I started to feel things were gonna go down south...) She never wet my scalp all the way only the center not the back or the front and it felt like she was rubbing my ends together as if she was washing a pair of socks... less than 2 minutes later I was back at her station, (I doubt she even put conditioner in my hair). Before she started the blow out she asked me if it was OK to put product in my hair, I said yes. Later i realized this question was irrelevant because she didn't put any product in my hair (other than hairspray at the end), Which made me kinda mad because they have on display the same hair care line (Moroccon Oil) that my regular salon carries and I love how it makes my hair feel. Throughout the blow out I kept on giving her cues on how i wanted my hair to look for reassurance. I thought it was weird that i saw other stylist use curling irons but she was just using a round brush and blow dryer, so I asked why, and she said that they only use the curling iron for the beach wave look, and that her technique with the round brush gave excellent curls so it was not necessary to use the iron on my hair. Then she said " Trust me you're in good hands"... I took this more as a "Shut up and let me do my job".... from this point forward i said not one more word. As I sat there quietly I noticed this girl (employee) handing out mimosas and refilling waters on other clients. For some reason she didn't even bother to smile at me or even make eye contact with me, let alone ask me if I wanted more water and I didn't even bother asking her for more since Paola had just technically shut me up.... So I just continued to sit there, quietly. One hour and a half later she was done. When she turned the chair to face the mirror I was almost brought to tears by what I saw. My hair looked like a frizz ball with only the ends curled in and the ends looked fried as hell!!! My hair is long and I do have alot of it, but on their website it clearly states that no matter what hair type or length you had they were able to style it (and all at the same price). At this point it was 4:20 and the Dinner I had to be at was at 5:00. I had no time to complain or ask for them to re-do it. I had to rush home anddo my HAIR and MAKE UP by 5 PM!! THE ICING ON THE CAKE WAS WHEN PAOLA ESCORTED ME TO THE FRONT TO CHECK OUT AND THE GIRL BEHIND THE COUNTER (THE SAME GIRL WHO WAS HANDING OUT MIMOSAS TO THE CLIENTS AROUND ME BUT DIDNT BOTHER TO ASK IF I WANTED MORE WATER IN MY GLASS) SAID: "WHOAH! YOU HAVE ALOT OF HAIR!" at this point i was ready to cry. She still had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to buy a membership, which I declined. I paid, gave her the girls tip (because I felt obligated too since she did ask if I wanted to put the tip on my card) and left. As soon as I got in my car I called to let them know exactly how i felt, unfortunately all I got was someones voice mail ( A CLIENT RELATIONS LIAISON) so I left my contact info and hoped I get a call back. Its been a week now and I've left another voice mail to the same person and still no call back. I am extremely disappointed with their lack of customer service and the blow out I received that day. Even thinking about it makes me upset, It seriously ruined my Saturday night, and I'm sure it also put a damper on my friends Dinner because I could help but be a Debbie Downer for the rest of the night. I love the Drybar at the Scottsdale Quarter, so when I saw a Groupon for the new Phoenix location, I bought it right away. The salon was very busy but I was seen right away. I received my champagne promptly and went to the washing station. The Groupon was good for a 10 minute floater (scalp massage), but I can't imagine mine was for more than 5 minutes. It was a nice bonus, but not something I'd pay for myself next time I visit. I have simple, short hair, so my blowout was pretty quick. The woman who did my hair did a great job of listening to what I wanted and was a lot of fun to talk to. I was in and out within 40 minutes. It only lasted about a day, so that was a bummer, but my hair stayed clean and fresh for four. Drybar is a step above other blow dry bars in the area - I highly recommend! read more

Uhm can I just say....WOW. This place ROCKS, I have very VERY 4C thick curly African american hair and Eileen(I hope that's how you spell it) showed it who was boss with her blow dryer. It also helps that she's the ACTUAL boss of the whole place lol. From the minute I walked in, it was attentiveness and excellent care all the way(even though I'm pretty sure it was "you can't sit with us unless you vacation in the hamptons or own 6 chanel bags" day for the customers). I felt very comfortable and welcomed by the stylists, despite the rats nest on my head. They were very patient with me and I really appreciate the time they spent making me look fabulous. I left with my hair completely bone straight, which is rare for me. Would DEFINATELY recommend this place!! read more

I purchased the introductory groupon they offered a few weeks ago, and was hesitant at first because I haven't had the greatest experiences using groupons. I was pleasantly surprised. I did look at some of the bad yelp reviews before going in, which made me nervous! So for those of you that only look at bad reviews, I hope you see this one and have a little more hope. I had a stylist named Annie, she had pink hair. Super friendly, and really appeared to want to get my style right. Since I had read bad reviews before coming in about stylists not listening to the customer when they asked for the curling iron to be used for better curl, I was concerned she would do the same. But, I let her know I was looking for good curl, and with thin/straight hair, it can be tricky to achieve. She attempted to curl with just the round brush and hair dryer first, and when she was "impressed by her curling abilities with a round brush," she was "equally impressed with my hair's inability to hold a curl." So she broke out the curling iron! We made great small talk, and I let her know I would be back in a month when I go out to celebrate my birthday. The salon is a fun, well-decorated environment. It was pretty loud with the hair dryers going, but not terrible. The less than perfect rating was that I saw people with mimosas/champagne, and while I had been offered something to drink, I figured I could just choose water or coffee, as that is usually is what at hair salons, I wasn't informed of my choices by the front desk staff. Now I know for next time to ask for some bubbly! Another good tip is to plan for longer than 45 minutes if you are planning to do a style with curls. While I got started on my appointment about 5-10 minutes late, I was there for 1 hour (and I dont have super long, thick hair that takes a great deal of time). I will be back in January for my 25th birthday night! read more

Ive been twice now in the past month and have had great experiences each time! Loved my experience at blow dry bar! I came in with my theme and I let my stylist run with it! She did an excellent job providing me with details on what she was doing and took my input on what I wanted. I would recommend the dry bar to everyone. The only flaw I had was that due to az liquor license you can't have champagne but the place was themed around a glass of champagne! I would have loved that!! So happy that DryBar opened a Central Phoenix location! Fun atmosphere, great customer service and high quality blowouts...pretty much an exact replica of the North Scottsdale location but at a much more convenient location for me. Took my sister-in-law here for a birthday treat. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and they accommodated our request to sit next to each other as we enjoyed our blowouts and mimosas. I was a first timer at Drybar but not a first timer for a blow out. I really enjoyed my experience. My stylist help me pick a style based on my hair cut (I wanted curls but wasn't sure which of their styles would match my blunt cut) and I was not disappointed with the result. My stylist did an amazing job on my wash, and gave me a really nice scalp massage. She was also quick to check if I was tender headed and how my hair took heat. Another reviewer mentioned it is hard to chit chat because of all the hair dryers going, but they had magazines and a TV playing 500 Days of Summer (with closed captions on, of course) to help pass the time. My style held up all day, even in the humidity of the oncoming monsoon. Not sure if I will be back, mostly because of the price tag. $40 is a lot to spend on getting your hair washed and styled, my Aveda stylist charges me $50 for a cut. I will definitely be back if I have a special occasion i need a special 'do for, these ladies really know their styles! read more

I absolutely LOVED my experience at Drybar. I'm almost 8 months pregnant and have been having all sorts of aches & pains, and was really dreading doing my hair. My Husband surprised me with a Groupon here and told me to go treat myself. It was the prefect way to relax for a bit. I wish I could remember my stylists name, but he was absolutely fantastic. Definitely one of the BEST scalp massages I have ever had, and I've been in the salon industry for almost 5 years now. I told him all I wanted was volume and curls, and he definitely delivered. Had a wonderful experience at Drybar. Alyssa was my stylist, and she took excellent care of me. She gave me an amazing scalp massage as she washed and conditioned my hair. My hair length is well past my waist and is naturally thick and curly. So in asking Alyssa to blow dry my hair straight, I knew it would be quite the task. However, she made my hair straight, soft, and amazing, and from wash to the finishing touches, it took just an hour. For $40, I'll definitely be back soon! Back in February I had a really bad blow out from Dry Bar. The girl that did my blow out asked if my hair was kinky- I came in with it blown out from the week prior. Kinky is not a term i would ever use to describe my hair texture and it's offensive. She did not detangle my hair before she began to blow it out. She sectioned it really weird and I had water dripping down out on my hair that was blown out. She just hacked at my curls with a bristle brush while drying it. To then go on and fry my hair again and put curls in leaving my hair dry, frizzy. My hair was stiff usually has flow and it smelled burnt and not fresh. I paid for an upgraded hydrating treatment and always look forward to how soft and fresh my hair feels when I get a blow out. The blow out did not last and I called to get in for a redo or refund. However, it was not resolved it is now April and a refund has not been issued. I requested this multiple times on multiple occasions for them to answer on an outsourced call center and not resolve the issue. I am currently on the line with them requesting yet again for a refund for them to tell me they are escalating the call. Also, there's a rooster crowing in the background and I can barely understand anything that's being communicated. Highly professional. I just expect a higher standard of service from a reputable company and not to get brushes off. read more

Cancelled my membership today after my 3rd appt in a row of having to go home and re-wash/style my hair. I love the concept of Drybar and I've had amazing stylists in the past who do a wonderful job. However, looking like I've just been through a dust storm isn't acceptable for the amount of $ and time I'm wasting instead of saving. I've tried doing just a straight up, iron curls, straightener curls, and still I am left with unkept overly messy looking hair and can do a better job myself at home. I hope one day they will step up the training and stylist selection :( read more

As a person who has no idea how to do my own hair, I have been forced to go to countless salons every time that I have an event to attend where I need to look presentable. I end up doing this about once a month - so I have quite a large basis for comparison - and I have never been so pleased as I was with my blowout yesterday. I got it done at 1 PM and looked good through the entire evening. Also, Alexis, the receptionist was super friendly and helpful in terms of figuring out exactly what I wanted and my stylist, Sarah, made it happen. It was like magic. I came back here last night for just a blowout before date night with my husband. It's miserably humid in AZ right now and I didn't want to even attempt doing my own hair. I booked online yesterday morning and to my surprise there were still some evening appointments available. I got there a few minutes early, and was greeted by Brittany promptly at 6 (my appt time) to get started. She was great. I loved our conversation. She asked what I was comfortable with as far as products in my hair and listened to what I wanted. I loved the way she shampooed my hair! So gentle, yet enough for it to be a blissful experience. I'll be adding a floater next time. I was out by 715. I have long, very think hair, so I anticipated it being a longer appointment. It wasn't too busy. The receptionist was a delight. I had such a better experience here than last time, which wasn't even that bad. My only complaint was that it felt really hot in the salon. And I know a blow dryer was on me for a good amount of time. But even before that, it felt extremely warm. But I will definitely be back!! Hoping to making this a weekly visit read more

My first experience was horrible, but I decided to give them another chance, and I wish I didn't. Waste of my money!!! I am a first time customer at this location. I felt like being pampered so I decided to book an appointment to get my hair done instead of doing it myself. The appointment was in time and the wash was heavenly. My complaint comes at the time of detangling and combing my hair. It was quite painful, but the worst was to come. The entire blow dry session was way too rough. The male hair dresser pulled my hair straight to the point I thought it was going to come out of my head. I complained a few times, but no relief. I couldn't wait to get out of there. The end result was not as good as I've had in other locations. My hair looks straight as I asked for but it also looks dry and frizzy. My sister-in-law purchased two blow drys for us using a Groupon and we made our appointments for the same time. We both had a great experience! Although the salon was very busy, they were able to seat us next to each other for both the shampoo and blow dry. I really appreciated the little extras that were provided as mentioned in some of the other reviews - the mimosa (I could only drink half because I'm a lightweight), the movie and the iPhone charger. It was also nice to have so many styles to choose from. The salon was very clean and oh-so-cute! In addition, both the girls who did our hair were professional, friendly, and did an amazing job. I'm writing this review one day later and my hair still looks great even after I slept on it. My sister-in-law said her hair kept overnight and still looks great as well. For the groupon price, two days of amazing hair is a steal, at the regular price of $35 it's still worth it! The salon is located in a busy shopping plaza so I'd recommend giving yourself a few extra minutes to find a parking spot. We got lucky and got a spot right away because someone was leaving. We both plan on returning to Drybar whenever we want to get our hair done and I plan on purchasing some packages to give to people as gifts. I've heard so many good things about this place I decided to check it out! I had a fun night out planned and scheduled an appt 1.5hrs before I was meeting up with my friends. What an amazing idea!!!! Never will I ever do my own hair again! Walked in with my makeup and outfit on and walked out with great hair! This place is seriously icing on the cake to complete your look! My stylist nailed the style I was looking for, everyone was super friendly as well. Side note.... I was really looking forward to an adult beverage while getting styled but was never offered anything?? Maybe I misunderstood other reviews on that?? Racist or classist? You decide. My boyfriend bought me a groupon here as a gift. My Abuelita (grandma) passed away 2 days before my birthday so getting away to be pampered was going to be well deserved... I was beyond excited for my first blow out! I was already planning on purchasing a membership during my visit and thinking about all the loved ones I could treat here. Now, I have heard of unpleasant service being common when you take advantage of a groupon offer, but I knew I was going to tip my hair dresser generously to make up for that. I check in, and while I'm seated and checking out the cute decor, I catch the disappointed look on my hairdressers face when he was told who he would be servicing that day.... Not comforting to say the least, but I think past it because I'm out of my comfort zone and I want to enjoy my day. I was the odd one out. I'm treating myself for my birthday, not just a normal for funs and a glam day - I wish. And I don't have blonde hair and blue eyes like all of the other women being serviced that day, and my hair is dark, thick, and long. It defines me and my heritage. He was obviously upset because he had to take the groupon girl with the nerve to show up with this much hair! I chose the cosmo and it turned out luscious, my hair had so much body and bounce. However, I wasn't spoken to the. entire. time. While the chairs filled up next to me, every white woman was offered complimentary drinks and I believe sweet snacks as well. Every one of those hairdressers made small talk and laughed away with their clients while I sat in a chair on my birthday - lonely - while a stranger unhappily did my hair. Inevitably my thoughts would drift to my Abuelita and I'd have to fight back the tears. Worst birthday of my life. I kept a smile on my face for a good while. I was never asked one question (besides what I want done to my hair,) and when I would bring up conversation, I was met with short replies. All of it was very rushed and the girl next to me got 2 dutch braids and we finished around the same time. Checking out, I was tempted to not tip at all but that is just not the kind of person I am. I kept my word on my generous tip. I did not purchase a membership after all. I enjoyed my hairstyle and eavesdropping on all the other friendly hair dressers but I can't say for sure that they wouldn't treat me, an obviously thrifty latina woman, the same way - before seeing that generous tip. 0/10 Would never recommend unless they are the last place on earth to get a blow out. UPDATE***** I posted this same review on Drybar FB page... A bunch of people started commenting on it and db asked that I DM them my info... I did so and all they did was add me to their email marketing list.. WTF!! I go and check for the review today and DryBar deleted it!!! This location is excellent, I decided to try Drybar in Scottsdale, near where I live, a while back and was really disappointed with the quality of my shampoo and blow dry. What a difference at the Phoenix location. The staff was attentive, courteous and took a genuine interest in my satisfaction. My stylist knocked it out of the park! My shampoo and condition were dynamite. She mixed up the perfect product concoction for my "ethnic" hair and then proceeded to blow dry and flat iron to perfection! I couldn't be happier, even the next day I was singing her praises. Wow, what a difference location makes, I will definitely be driving the extra miles down to Phoenix often! read more

I give this place 5 stars! Such a good location, there's little boutiques and cafes right next to it I went a browsed a little while waiting for my stylist to finish up. She even came and got me when it was time! And then as soon as you walk in they offer you citrus or cucumber water, so refreshing. But the real star of the show was Liz!! Oh my god this girl can make you laugh, cracking jokes and telling funny stories I loved her. And she was so determined to make sure I was completely happy with my hair. Fixing any little thing I thought was off. And another great part was I got a half up half down which is considered an "uptini" or an updo and I was under the impression it was going to be $90 which I was happy to pay. But when I got to the counter it was only $65! That was a nice surprise. Overall I felt pampered, listened to, and beautiful. I can't wait to go back! Worst cancellation policy! You guys have no ethics or morals arounds your cancellation policy. I had an appointment at 9 am. I woke up sick with fever. I called to cancel but your call center individual - Laquisha couldn't help me. She still charged me for a fee. I was a member at one time and cancelled my membership because I moved. But I still use dry bar regularly when I come back to Phx. Last week, I spent $200 because I took a party over for blowouts. There should be an exception to your rules!
