Years ago, I met Brittany at Urban Yoga. She was working the front desk and knew who I was before…read moreI even signed in. As it turns out, my girlfriend at the time ( now fiance'), Kate taught yoga there and Brittany knew that I was attending that class. It freaked me out somewhat at the time, although we laugh about it now. In addition to handling the day-to-day responsibilities of a busy yoga studio in her past, this rock star of a person also has been doing hair for years. To call her a Hair Stylist, Stylist or Color & Hair Extension Expert is an understatement, she's been taking care of tresses & updos for a long time, since high-school actually. I trust her with my locks on a monthly basis. Scheduling with her is very easy and she always leaves me feeling like a movie star or a million bucks (same thing really.) Prior to creating Prim Salon with her business partner Megan, she worked at Panache' Salon near Seventh Street and Missouri. This beautiful pair began searching for the right place to launch a small salon for just the two of them. They looked into Office Buildings, Strip Plazas and even considered buying a small house in the Biltmore or Roosevelt areas. Many months later, they spotted the new Salon Studios that were created in the Moda Fina Jewelry building near Camelback Rd. and 32nd Street. There is also a CoreBalance business upstairs that offers Yoga, Spin, & Barre classes. The Salon Studios opened in May and have about 9 or 10 suites/units that offer Hair Services, Waxing, Facials, Sugaring, Eyelash Extensions, Chemical Peels and I believe that one of the Aestheticians offers Eyebrow Threading. There may even be a suite or two open at this time, stop in and check the place out. Better yet, look up "Salon Studios on Camelback" on google or facebook for more information. Prim Salon is one of the largest suites at the recently opened Salon Studios. Prim offers 2 chairs, a wash station and it feels roomy and chic. The tone of the room is elegant and relaxing with broad white and silver strips on the walls and 2 huge mirrors with intricately carved white frames. There are also broad hallways with comfy chairs to wait for your partner or your appointment. Kate has been going to Brittany for about 3 years now and truly appreciates Brittany's calm approach to almost any issue. She's had extensions, highlights, cuts and blowouts and continues to look amazing each & every time that she leaves Prim Salon. Parking is a breeze here. I pull in and occasionally score with covered parking, otherwise keep driving and there are additional spaces on the East side of the building near the back entrance.

First time here and I absolutely LOVE it. This was my first time getting my hair professionally…read moredone and Brittany did a fantastic job. The salon is so personal and she really paid attention and listened to what I wanted. She has ten years experience so I felt safe in her hands. I am definitely going back! Even better, it's very affordable for a hair salon.

Sye always does an amazing job! You can tell she's a true artist with hair, always gets so excited…read morewhen I describe what I want, no matter how mundane it is. The last time I went in, I've loved my hair-especially how she took my request to be a little darker for Fall but still show my highlights! Also the salon has a total spa-vibe. I love relaxing in the shampoo space and the little massage they give you to start. ‍

Very beautiful salon with talented stylists. I had my color done by Vanessa who was very pleasant…read morebut also excellent with color and foil highlights. Vanessa matched my hair color perfectly and blended in highlights seamlessly. My hair has a pretty golden blonde sheen to it now with nice color all throughout. Vanessa shampoo'd my hair with a nic dancing massage with her magic fingertips. She definitely got all traces of color mixture out and added in a hydrating shampoo and very conditioning conditioner. Mane Attraction has wonderful conditioning shampoos. My hair is so silky now and hydrated. My color services are always abov and beyond here. I've always had wonderful layer haircuts here also . Today I got such a very beautiful base color with highlights. I always get blonde or platinum or brown blonde shades (bronde) and color is always vibrant and shiny and gorgeous. I noticed the other guests in the chairs around me also left with gorgeous shades of blonde and nicely styled hair. You will always get a wonderful hair service here at Mane Attraction. Drybar never disappoints! Everytime. Every stylist. Every occasion. My hair always looks fabulous!!…read moreI especially love Elisa and Ari, and Carrie.

Unfortunately, this was yet another disappointing experience at Drybar's Paradise Valley location…read morewith the stylist Tyler and after multiple visits with similar issues, I genuinely don't see myself returning. As much as I want to love going.. I give credit where it's due always because the phoenix camelback location this wasn't an issue. My appointment was scheduled for 5:45 PM. Due to traffic, I called ahead to let them know that my ETA was 5:47 PM at the absolute latest, only two minutes past my appointment time. Instead of simply acknowledging the heads-up, I was told that whether I could still be accommodated would depend on their availability, including potential walk-ins. When I asked whether there was a grace period for scheduled appointments, I couldn't get a clear answer. Eventually, a manager took over the call, apologized because the employee was training, and said she would notify the location. I actually arrived at 5:46 PM, just ONE minute after my scheduled appointment. However, I wasn't seated until approximately 5:50, and my stylist didn't begin until 5:55. I specifically requested the Manhattan style, completely straight, because I knew that adding curls or additional styling would take longer with my naturally curly hair. I communicated exactly what I wanted from the beginning. By 6:55 PM, an entire hour after my stylist began, my blowout STILL wasn't finished. At that point, I had dinner plans and schoolwork to complete, so I personally asked her to stop. I left with an UNFINISHED blowout, which is incredibly disappointing considering I booked and expected a complete service. What really bothered me was what happened at checkout. My stylist went to the front desk, and I accompanied her, only to find out that she initially wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $120 because of the time spent on my hair. Mind you, my hair wasn't even finished! The front desk receptionist actually acknowledged that she didn't think it was fair to charge me that much considering my service was incomplete. Ultimately, I was still charged an additional $20 for going over the allotted time. I want to be clear that I wasn't upset with the receptionist. I even told her that I understood she was simply following company policy and doing her job. I wasn't interested in arguing with someone who didn't create the policy. However, even the fact that she recognized the original charge was unreasonable speaks volumes. This is also not my first experience with unexpected additional charges at Drybar. I have naturally curly, textured hair, and it seems that every visit comes with additional fees because my hair takes longer to style. I completely understand that different hair types require different amounts of time, but if additional charges are anticipated, that should be communicated clearly BEFORE the service begins, not presented as a surprise at checkout. If they feel like my hair is going to take longer just by looking at it then that should be clearly communicated. My original blowout and add-on were expected to total approximately $75-$80. I don't mind paying for a service, but I do mind paying more than expected for a service that wasn't even completed. Additionally, my stylist was not particularly welcoming or personable. There was very little interaction, and I honestly felt as though she was frustrated to be working with my hair texture. As a Black woman, that is an incredibly uncomfortable feeling, especially when visiting a salon that advertises services for different hair types. My biggest issue is the lack of transparency and fairness. Customers are expected to respect appointment times, yet my appointment began ten minutes late. Customers are expected to pay additional fees when services run over, yet there seems to be little consideration for whether the service was completed or whether those charges were ever communicated. I genuinely wanted to enjoy my experience, but I left with unfinished hair, unexpected charges, and an overall disappointing impression of the service. Drybar needs to do better when it comes to scheduling, pricing transparency, and providing consistent, welcoming service for clients with textured hair. Just gives if you have curly hair / are a black woman don't bother.. I guess I should have done my own research & not trusted the black models that they have on the marketing side.
