Got my hair bleached and cut by Kathy. I was a lil unsure at first when she put bleach all over and came out a tiny bit patchy but once I put the copper color in it, I loved it. She added the layers beautifully, as a curly haired girl herself she knew what she was doing because I was going for a curly shag look. I've been going here for about three years now and have had my haircut by Ryan, Allie, and another lady that sadly I cannot remember her name. They have all done a wonderful job and I always love my haircut. Which explains why I'm rating it three stars. If it weren't for my experience this past weekend (Sunday, September 2nd) I would have rated it 5 stars! I actually wanted to rate this place 1 star. But I thought it would have been very unfair to the other ladies and the great job they've done. I went in that day with my sister. I was getting my bangs cut and she was getting a haircut and bangs as well. There was only one hairstylist there at 11 (she was a new face and I didn't even get her name). I was very specific of how I wanted my bangs cut showing her three pictures (two of them being of myself with bangs) and it was a nightmare! For both my sister and I. I've been wanting my hair done for about two months I try not to bleach it if I can but I planned to this time, it was just purple and that's a hard one to get out, I did communicate this to my stylist still she barely used any dye at all I thought to myself "she knows what she's doing it's her job" but when I go home to style it there was NONE on my roots! I never write reviews especially negative ones but I wanted to share my experience here. If you are getting color especially one that needs bleach I would highly recommend not going here, unless it is with one of the stylists that are color specialists like Michelle. I didn't and I paid $200 to have my hair ruined. I didn't even get close to the color I requested I got something COMPLETELY else. The parts of my hair that were already bleached were so over processed they ended up turning gummy. Many parts of my hair are now orange. Because the stylist and owner didn't know what they were doing with color I ended up with a crazy color I did NOT ask for. The haircut I also got was pretty mediocre. The owner is nice, but I was never offered a refund just a free "treatment" that didn't do anything... I ended up having to cut a bunch of my hair off elsewhere - when I came in it was so bad they thought I did my hair myself. Do your research so you don't end up with hair like me. read more

After saving tons of pictures on Pinterest of ombré colors, cute A-line cuts, and shaved sides with designs, I decided I wanted to do it - only problem was that it was a Sunday, so salons that were open were slim pickings. I made an appointment with Allie for the Friday after, but somehow went with a knee jerk reaction to get it done that day with someone I knew nothing about. I'd read all of Allie's great reviews and should have waited, but I didn't and came home that day with 5 different colors in my hair, a crooked shave on the side, and an uneven, frizzy cut. I wanted to cry and ended up recoloring my hair on my own, which made it even worse. I wore a hat the whole week and still can't believe the Sunday stylist let me walk out of the salon looking the way I did. My first words to Allie were, "I have some explaining to do..." I felt awful bc she told me herself that she was super excited abt doing the cut and color I requested, then I show up to my appointment with damaged, FUBAR hair. Allie was so sweet, told me that it was ok, she understood my excitement at the time, and that she would fix it. I was nervous because I was scarred from the previous stylist, but Allie talked through everything she was doing and I realized very early in the appointment that she knew exactly what she was doing and had a plan! I just wanted to post an update to this review. After returning home, cleaning dye off my face for 30 minutes, and my hair fully drying, I had a lot of hair that was not fully covered by the dye job that was done here. I had a lot of my natural brown color coming through the black dye. I had to go buy some box dye from target and re-do this myself to have the all over color I paid for. For $115, I'd expect a professional dye job, which I did not receive. read more

My daughter got her hair trimmed and streaked.. I wish I had gone to Nicole as well. Matt answered the phone when I called to make an appt and he said he had an opening on Tuesday, senior special day for $17 a haircut, so I made my appt with him.. wish I would have held out for Nicole. I told him I wanted my bangs longer on the sides of my forehead and hated those straight across bangs.. he said no problem..(my bangs started out down to my eyes) HOWEVER, not only did he make my hair shorter on the sides of my forehead, he left a patch almost TWO inches longer than the rest of my bangs in the middle of my face that I had told him I didn't want shorter... I ended up cutting the long patch in the middle of my face when I got home because it looked so ridiculous... going to just have to live with this now until it grows out. I decide since it's been over a year since my last haircut, it's time for an update. I want to get it all--cut, color, highlights. I call, make an appointment for Saturday before a planned girls' night so I can wow everyone, everything is swell so far. Before we get started she asks the requisite questions, and I point out to her what colors I'm going for. The most important point I make is that I want my highlights to look natural. Just to say it another way, I say flat out, NO BLONDE STREAKS. I also mention my hair is naturally curly, and I never straighten it. Let's fast forward past the part where she's putting in the foils, chit chatting about how she and her husband love Red Lobster, blah blah, typical salon blather. At this point some woman comes and rudely asks if Angel can see her now, without an appointment. Instead of saying, "I'm with a customer right now, we can make an appointment or you can come back when I'm finished," she says, "just give me 15 minutes." Wait. What. Then Angel starts the color. As she's putting in the color, I can feel she's kind of just slopping it on. It's in my ears, across my forehead, all down my neck. I'm starting to worry, but I'm like hey, maybe she's just making sure it's saturated, she'll make sure she gets it off all my skin, she's a professional. Right? Apparently not. When it's time to rinse, another stylist at the salon walks by, sees me, and goes, "Oh...Angel..." with a grimace. Now I'm mortified. Angel brushes it off, blames the showercap she had me wear for the color all over my face. She starts scrubbing at my skin like mad with this liquid meant to get off color stains, but it's not working in the slightest. Then the other woman offers a suggestion...let's rub some cigarette ashes on it! WAIT. WHAT. She goes on to explain the situation is so dire, the only thing that will help at this point is cigarette ashes, a trick she learned in beauty school. So I wish I was joking, but they went outside to the ashtray, got some cigarette ashes and began scrubbing my face with them. Once my face is raw, they give up and put me in front of a mirror for the first time and I am too furious for words. Not only is my skin dyed so I look like I had some horrible encounter where the sun NESTED ON MY HEAD and gave me a disease, but I've got these nasty blonde streaks all over and I look like I'm trying to go to Comic-Con as Rogue. Now the woman who barged in earlier is back, this with a styrofoam box of some really smelly food, and she's sitting right behind me offering up nuggets of wisdom such as, "you don't look very happy. At least you can be grateful, knowing you were happy with what you had before!" Angel starts combing through it and asks me what I think. "I don't like it," is all I can come up with. She tells me I just need to take some time, get used to it, she thinks it's beautiful. I'm seething about the tacky blonde stripes, so she finally offers me a "solution." She can tint it for me for an extra $20! Unhappy is an understatement, so she hurries through the cut (or maybe she's hurrying because she promised Eating Woman Full of Knowledge that she'd see her 20 minutes ago?). Then she blow dries it out straight, something I also mentioned at the beginning as I never straighten my hair. All the while telling me how pretty it turned out. I had plans for the evening, I can't go anywhere two inches of my forehead and the top half of my ears dyed bright red! "Just go home, wash your face, put some makeup over it. I am done coming to your salon. Whomever the woman you had tonight, older lady, I've had her several times and I've gotten to the point where I cringe every time I've seen her. I've gone out of my way to make sure that she was not available just so I don't have to get her to cut my hair and for some reason I have the worst luck and she's there every time. I've never said anything because I didn't want to hurt anyone's feelings but her work is horrible and thus I am never returning to your salon again. I would recommend either training her for finding someone else because I feel like she just doesn't know what she's doing. She even had to call someone over to help her with my hair this evening for what I feel is a simple men's haircut request. I'm sad to go but I can't pay for a poor service anymore. read more

After that last fiasco at Great Clips, I was a bit gun-shy about getting my hair cut at a new place again. But a good friend of mine has been going to Hair'z 2 U, to get her funky cool hair style done, and it looked great. Not only that, this place is like 1/10th of a mile from my house. In typical Phoenix fashion, the salon is located in a nondescript strip mall. Inside, they did a really fine job of making it inviting, and almost luxurious. My stylist, Susan, had a friendly, engaging personality, and took plenty of time to ask questions, ask me how she was doing, and refer back to the pictures I brought. She managed to salvage my hair style, and make it something lovely. I'll certainly go back once it grows out some, so she can finish the job, and heck, maybe even get some color too. read more

I've been searching for a salon in Phoenix that could work with my curly hair and make me feel good about it without costing an arm and a leg. Jean was awesome. I showed her a picture of what I wanted, she asked a bunch of questions, and she included me in the process by asking my opinion every so often and making sure she was doing what I wanted. I'm used to walking in and showing a picture, then getting a half-assed version of what I wanted, but Jean made sure it was exactly what I came for. I have been going to Hair"z 2U for about 3 years using Susan to cut my hair as we understood how my hair was to be cut. Each time Ryan answered the phone she is was very rude. When Susan wasn't available Ryan talked me twice into using another stylist . Each time I didn't like the stylist or my hair cut. When I would come back and explain to Susan my concerns she would fix the problems after a few haircuts. I called on Monday the 8th the person on the other end again said this is Ryan. I asked for an appointment with Susan and again was told Susan wasn't there but someone else could cut my hair. I said I would call the next day. But yesterday I had it!! Susan was available but not until 12:45 PM. When Ryan asked for my phone number and I said I don't give it out she became rude again. After I had hung my phone up my phone rang immediately. Ryan had called back to get my phone number!! I called back later to cancel my appointment and I asked for Susan explained why I wasn't coming in and would not be back because of Ryan. Susan handed the phone to Nicole the owner. Nicole gave me excuse after excuse concerning Ryan. "Everybody love Ryan", she's the sweetest". But when I told Nicole I was going to put a bad review on Yelp that's when she said "Oh, I will talk to Ryan." I had made an appointment at a nearby salon only to have them take 4 more people on because I was 5 minutes late. Frustrated, I called this salon she said she could take me immediately, even though it was already after 5pm. I HATE getting my hair cut, which usually ends up in an awful chop,but Ale was excellent in listening in what I had to say and what I wanted done. Which was a simple trim to rid split ends and freshen my layers, I did not want my length gone. She was friendly, gentle, and took a minute to look at my hair and the best way to cut it. I was so impressed! I received a shampoo, cut, and added the blow dry for $3. Totaling $19 before tip! That's an excellent deal for the services you receive.
