All in all, I was pretty pleased with my first visit here today! The service could have been friendlier, but the place was packed so that could have been a factor. I walked in for a dry style, and I was seated in just ten minutes. The stylist showed me some photo examples of styles and I chose a loose curly style (what was that called? The Mai Tai?) and my god was done in about 15 minutes. Perfect! My curls were a bit tighter than I'd prefer, but the stylist did pay lots of attention to detail and was so quick and thorough, but she wasn't able to get rid of that pesky cowlick! I had the best experience at the DryBar! The ambiance of the salon is very cutesy and totally female friendly. It was very clean and professional, plus they were early with my appointment which was very helpful! The stylist I got was very knowledgeable and explained each of the styles that would be good for my length of hair and for prom. The curls lasted all night, and it still looks lovely and voluminous the day after. The only thing I would change is PLEASE turn down the volume of the music. I have such mixed feelings about this place. For the most part the stylists are talented & professional but the some of the receptionists are sub par. Although some are great. Evidently the owner loves LOUD music & loud it is. You have to practically yell to converse. When I asked if we could turn the music down a bit I was told that's the way the owner wants it. YIKES! Whatever happened to customer satisfaction? Not all patrons like loud music. I use to appreciate the ease of booking an appointment on the phone app but due to some sort of glitch it keeps telling me my cc is invalid which it's not. So here's the biggest rub, to call you have to reach out to some one in India or some other foreign country. You can NOT call the salon directly. So frustrating & to me rude! If you miss an appointment due to some unforeseen circumstances you're charged but only if the cc is on file. But you can't make an appointment unless it is. And you can't call to book an appointment directly only thru some foreign country. read more

Whenever I want to treat myself, I come to Drybar. NO ONE has product that smells as good as Drybar's. Even down to the hairspray the products smell amazing. I tend to get the Mai Tai or Cosmo Tai when I come in. Today I got the Mai Tai and I'm 137% positive that the styling I received resulted in me receiving food hookups when I went to dinner after. My hair looks and smells amazing, my stylist was extremely personable and I could spend an hour getting my scalp massaged. I love this place! read more

Never going here again. I want my money back. Let me preface this with my hair style: Length: about 6 inches past my shoulders Color: Blonde Type: Dry, Fine (but a lot of hair, still!) I sit down with my citrus infused water and a lemon cookie and my stylist (whose name I can't remember for the life of me) asks me what I want. I say I want my hair to be big and super curly. I asked if that was possible. She said anything was possible, she's from Jersey. She washes my hair along side my two best friends. We are listening to Sweet Caroline and personally, I love that song. My hairdresser did not, and she made a point to tell us that she hated the song every thirty seconds. Mind her bad attitude, I was entranced by the scalp massage. We got back to the chair and I noticed that everyone was talking to their hairdressers. I figured I would attempt a conversation with my Jersey girl. This next part is what made me give a 1 star review and an angry tweet: Me: How is your day? Hair Dresser: Don't ask me that. Don't ask anyone here that. Me: Oh. I wish I could have bolded that section. She then goes on to tell me that she just quit smoking. Great. After blow drying my hair she started curling it. Personally, I curl my hair all the time and it's extremely easy to curl! It will hold shape for two days. Unfortunately, she couldn't get the curl to hold and then realized it wasn't plugged in. So she re-brushed and hair sprayed my hair. She curled it again with another, smaller, iron. It looked ok, not great, and definitely not $50 worth, but fine. Then she is adjusting it and says, "I have to re-do this." She brushed out ALL of my hair and re-started. I don't know about you, but my hair doesn't work that way. I knew it was ruined. She finishes, stating, "I didn't care if you liked it before, I had to redo it because I didn't like it." HA! Last time I checked, it is the customer's hair, not yours. Within THIRTY minutes my hair was flat, I was on my way to an engagement party so I couldn't fix it, and it was straight the entire night. It literally looked like I hadn't washed it in two days. I was so mad. I still want my money back. I'd give them ten stars if I could. I just had a really great experience here. I arrived 30 minutes early on accident and they took me back right away. The manager at the front desk (Jessica?) was very warm and welcoming. As long as she was around, there wasn't a dry mouth in the house, she kept everyone's beverage full and the store immaculate. Brittany hooked up my do, I'm positive that I would not have had such a great experience had it not been for her. She was a total sweetheart and kept me informed step by step on what she was doing to my hair and gave me tips on how to do it myself. This place is heaven and I can't wait to go back. I went here the other night bearing the latest groupon offer of blowout and Moroccan Oil mask. Although I love groupons, I'm always wary of being treated a with just a tiny bit of apprehension or annoyance-- this was definitely not the case at this Drybar. I was blown away (hah--) by how friendly and accommodating everyone was there. I've been to other blow out salons but have never had such an amazing experience-- even at other Drybars. The ambience was very nice and upscale without the slightest hint of pretentiousness or disdain. The Moroccan oil was just what my hair needed, and then I just lounged and watched Crazy Stupid Love on the huge TV right in front of me (with subtitles) and listened to awesome music in the cutest yellow accented salon while my stylist worked her magic. My hair has never looked so good, and not once did my stylist attempt to upcharge me, even when she used hot tools. It was the most relaxing and gratifying salon experience I've ever had! I've never waited past my appointment time and I love that you can book from your phone via a Drybar app! This is by far my favorite Drybar in the west coast region. On NYE my bestie and I went early to start our pre-New Years Pregaming early. In our yoga pants and ski beanies we showed up looking less than 'fly'. You are offered cold beverages of your liking ! Anything !! I mean that!!! We stuck with our nonfat Capps from next door and cucumber infused waters to keep our faces de-puffy for later! Cookies are there... Another no to that . But what a treat if you want or need a sweet ! Within about an hour we both left with long , luscious locks (Cosmo and Mai Tai blown) that lasted well into the wee hours past the toll of midnight at our NYE masquerade party! If I could include everything that makes me happy, it would be the Phoenix Drybar. To give a little bit of background, I first became familiar with Drybar through Sephora when I lived in Nashville and became familiar with their products. However, Nashville didn't have a Drybar location so the only impression I had was the dryer kit I had bought that included rollers, The Sheriff hairspray, and a bristle brush. I had also tried out the Southern Belle mousse as well and had very good experiences with it (before airport security took it away from me) :( As soon as I moved to PHX, I was waiting for the right occasion to try this place out, and with engagement pics, I thought, this is the perfect time. Awesome experience. The wash stations were comfortable on the neck.. Because let's be honest, we all notice when wash sinks are NOT comfortable at all and are sore the next day.. A huge win in my book if the salon gets this part down. My stylist took ample time to wash my hair and massage my scalp and added in a neck massage as well.. Very appreciated. In addition to near perfect hair (I got the southern comfort aka lots of volume) there were up-to-date mags and chick flicks running on the tvs. My only suggestion would be to have alcohol though I'm not sure the AZ rules on this. In TN, any hair cut, nail salon appt typically offered a glass of wine free of charge with service, but it could be different law-wise here in the Wild West. Can't wait to return! read more

I really love DryBar and am thrilled at the central Phoenix location. I am also happy to say that the experience was consistent with the North Scottsdale location. I purchased a Groupon recently and scheduled my appt online (love the ability to schedule appts online). My groupon included the blowout and 10 minute scalp massage (called a floater). Peggy gave me a heavenly scalp massage that I actually think I started to doze off with. Awkward! Since I have coarse, curly hair, I always go with the "Manhattan" which is straight and sleek. My hair never looks as good as when it is done at Drybar. It is silky, soft and super straight. The thing that sets Drybar apart from other blow dry bars I have been to in the Valley is the free glass of wine or mimosa, cookies at the front, a chick flick to watch during your blowout and no charge for the flat ironing of your hair! Considering that all of the blow dry bars (including Drybar) charge $35 for the blowout, you get alot more for your Drybar experience. read more

I didn't get a blow job, so I would have preferred much more to have gone to a "wet" bar. I'm awarding four stars despite the fact that my fiancée (now wife) left very disappointed and upset because she didn't get the results she had expected. She later called them and explained her situation and they immediately scheduled a new appointment for her the same day. On top of that a lady from management called and profusely apologized and gave her a free session. That is excellent customer service! The girls here are so sweet. I love the pampering experience of having them wash your hair.... So, my review is more of a 3.5 stars. I kind of felt like my hair, while it looked great, wasn't the look I was going for - I wanted more of a beachy wave, and got way more structure. Maybe it's my hair texture, I'm not sure. It's also a little awkward (understandably) - as you pretty much don't talk to your stylist, as there is a lot of blowdrying going on, esp if it's busy. I first heard about Drybar from how I built this podcast, and have wanted to go to one ever since. I booked an appointment in Phoenix while visiting on vacation. First off, it's simple. You only have to let your stylist know how you want your hair styled. They even have a look book to give you ideas. They wash your hair, section it off and blow dry. It felt really relaxing and I enjoyed looking around at all the cute decor, all the signature yellow. Then the smell of the products... OMG. It was wonderful, I had to buy a few to take home with me. I love my hair, I don't even begin to understand how they turned my stick straight hair into voluminous curls, but they did and I am so excited to show it off tonight. It was such a fun experience. However, the customer service was quite disappointing. When booking the appointment, the receptionist was impatient and rude. On the day of the appointment, the stylists as well as receptionist seemed annoyed throughout the entire process. The wash was brief, the stylist was unresponsive and didn't say a word the entire style, and they sat my friend and I on opposite sides of the room, so I was forced to sit in uncomfortable silence for the entire hour. Best blow out of my life! It lasted 2 weeks, and I'm not ashamed to say it. I was getting compliments on my hair the entire time. That alone paid for the service. IN ADDITION to getting 2 weeks of compliments, during the wash, I got a head massage which was so luxurious. I feel like that's a thing that I could only enjoy in secret, but at Dry Bar those come standard. Thanks to Dry Bar, I can now shamelessly ask my friends to give me head massages because I know I'm not weird for liking head massages. If you like head massages, you're not alone either! I got there early and they took me in early which was great. In my notes I had specified someone who knows how to do African American hair. The stylist did not. I cannot remember her name but she seemed new at this. She tried to flat iron my hair at the end which I was not okay with because I haven't put heat on my hair (other than blow dryer) in almost 3 years. My hair came out poofy and was unable to be styled. I have had my hair blown out before plenty of times and it always came out nice, bodied, and event ready. I think she just wasn't familiar with Black hair. The final result just looked like something I did on my own at home. That wasn't my main issue though as I don't like my hair super bone straight anyways. I really came there for a nice relaxing wash but I didn't get that. It was kind of rushed and she never shampooed my actual scalp, only my hair. After the blowout, my hair still itches and when I scratch the same gel and build up is still there that I had before my appt. Also I paid an extra $20 for scalp massage and I maybe got 3 minutes of that. Lastly I didn't feel this was an individualized experience. Everyone is just kind of sitting together like a hibachi restaurant. I guess that's the whole dry "bar" part of it. I was too tired mention anything as I barely slept the night before and had a long day at work. It's not my job to do that anyways as I am paying for the service so I just tipped and left it at that. I tried this as an experiment just for some pampering but I probably wouldn't return unless I know for sure the stylist knows how to style all types of hair. read more

She wasn't available and they didn't let me know. One women washed me. She sprayed me with water on both arms and my face. That's never happen before. Come to find out she's a manager. I didn't send in a survey and reflected my experience and never heard from them. I will never go back. I've been at least 20+ times and never experienced such a fast and cutting corners and sloppy wash. Never again! They lost a customer with their lack of communication with their survey. read more

I had a horrible experience here. On my wedding day, they messed up my bridesmaids' charges and created so much unnecessary stress that I will never visit this company. I called several days before my wedding to see if I could pay for my bridesmaids, who all had appointments here. I was assured that yes, if I gave my credit card information, they would charge the expenses for all the girls to me. The woman on the phone said she had put notes on each of their appointments saying that they were not to be charged, and had included my card information on their appointments as well. After they were done, I was asking how it went and asked if they were charged, and they said yes. We were driving to my wedding trying to call the company to make sure at least I wasn't billed in addition to them, but the company's phone system is infuriating - the billing office wasn't open and there was no option to just connect to the local store. That stress was the last thing I needed on an already stressful day. Before I left on my honeymoon, I was checking my bills to see if I'd been double charged. Weeks later, I am scrambling to find new gifts for them. This never should have happened. read more

I got my hair done here yesterday afternoon for a grad photoshoot happening later that evening. I did not quite receive the style I wanted but figured I may play with it and fix it when I got home. I have blonde hair so my hair is more fragile. With this being a professional blowout, I would have expected that proper care for blonde hair would be a given. The ends of my hair looked fried and looked like straw. (It never looks like this when I style it) There was also so much oil put in my hair that the curls fell flat by the time I got home and I couldn't re curl them because it was so oily it wouldn't hold a curl. I ended up having to shower and completely re do my hair myself within an hour of me getting home!. Very frustrated, considering I paid $45 including tip. This was an inconvenience as I had to be somewhere later that evening. This was not a good experience for me at all. The more frustrating part is, there's no one to contact! You can't call the store, it forwards you to a support center. I love decently far, and figured it would be a waste for me to drive all that way for them to say there's nothing they can do to make things right. DryBar has lost my business! read more

I'm a huge fan of the Drybar "chain" and love the Sunset location. I was happy to see that they have set up shop in both Scottsdale and Phoenix, and have been to both locations recently. What I really like about Drybar is that you can pretty much guarantee that the staff has been well trained in the Drybar way, and for the most part, you get a pretty great blow out no matter which location you choose. Today I was seen by Sarah (at the Phoenix spot) who did an awesome job! She knew exactly what I was asking for, and not only did she do a great job, but she was quick and careful. I liked her attitude, as she was friendly and happy to be there. The girl who checked me in was very pleasant as well and I did not have to wait past my appointment time to be seen. As usual, the decor is beautiful and I really love that there is a window in the back where you get your hair washed. It really opens the space.
