I amending my review based solely on the customer service I've received. The stylists have been wonderful. On May 12, I went in for an appointment with my sisters-in-law for blow outs. Service was prompt, and everyone had a great time. When I arrived home, I noticed that I was charged for 7 blow outs!!! Even if the Bartender had charged me for all three of the appointments that were booked under my name (which they didn't because we all paid separately and they both have correct charges to their cards), WHY would their be 7 charges? The following Monday, I stopped into Drybar to clear things up. The acting manager at the time said they were unable to find these charges and that I should either call the contact number on the website or leave my name and phone number in order for the district manager, 'Erin,' to contact me. A week went by, and I didn't hear anything. I called the hotline with no luck. Even after speaking with two phone attendants, neither could locate the charges. I ended up disputing the charges through my credit card - such a pain! TODAY, I find that my card was charged another random Drybar charge. I was NOT EVEN IN THE CITY! I immediately called the Drybar hotline, and they said they would have to forward my incident to the client services team. Patrick, my phone operator, couldn't find the new charge and said I could contact the customer service email. At the end of the call, he said that customer service would reach out. PLEASE, PLEASE if you are corporate reading this review, I cannot get ahold of ANYONE who can help me remedy the over $350 of random charges on my credit card from Drybar. To add insult to injury, I used to work at Drybar. I helped open the first Boston shop as a Bartender while in grad school because I loved the atmosphere and what it stands for. With customer service unable (unwilling?) to help out, I will most likely never return to a Drybar. read more

I went here for the first time today after getting a recommendation from a co-worker. i was nervous about going because I wasn't sure if this was a salon that could handle my thick, textured, and natural hair. I decided to take a chance because I desperately needed my hair done. I made my appointment for 11am and got there around 10:50. They took me almost right away. My stylist's name was London and she was very friendly. Her hands are like magic. I almost fell asleep at the wash bowl. I decided to go for the cosmo-tai hairstyle. London was quick and efficient. My hair came out fabulous. And for $45? Even better!! The whole process took a little over an hour which it great for during my lunch break. I'm trying to grow my hair our naturally, so I won't probably won't come here too often. But I will gladly make the trip to Georgetown to come back when needed because I am beyond satisfied. read more

I am on vacation to relax, thought I would get my hair done! I get there, three customers complaining their appointments were 1-1&1/2 hours late!! A young guy on the computer said it has been a crazy day, and it's the weekend so we are extra busy!! REALLY?? I was not about to get even more stressed, I called the scheduling dept, and asked to change locations!! The operator was very professional, & booked me somewhere else nearby. DON'T GO ON SUNDAY MORNING. I got there for my appointment and there were eight people ahead of me, most of them irate. One woman said this always happens. Don't try to go if you are tight on time. After some time, the receptionist rescheduled me for later and said they'd comp the service. She said to get there early (so apparently they are unable to stick to a schedule). I got in, was seen right away, and got a really bad blowout (I kind of look like the mom in the Brady Bunch on a very bad day). First attempt: No stylists were available to see us even though we booked our appointments a month in advance. No one called us to let us know. We were in town for our cousins wedding and got a babysitter to get blow outs. Walked in and couldn't be helped. ... so then we tried again.... Second attempt: Our appointments were at 8pm - no one saw us until 9pm. Again paying for a babysitter and missed our dinner reservation. Then they charged us full price. read more

So I wanted to book a blowout for New Year's Eve because I would be traveling all day and I wouldn't have enough time to style my own long, thick, wavy/curly hair. My best friend swears by Drybar, so when I called and found out that a 7:30 pm appointment was available on New Year's Eve I was so relieved--they said the blowout would take about 45 minutes, and my evening plans for my best friend's birthday celebration were at 8:30, so the timing was perfect! They asked for my credit card information but I was driving and therefore unable to get my card out of my wallet and read the information to the girl I spoke to, and I asked if I would be able to add my card information later. She said that wasn't a problem and that I could call back or go online to add my credit card information later. Perfect! However, I later that evening went online to try to add a card to my account and didn't see an option for that. The next day, (New Year's Eve) I called back to ask about this and make sure that my appointment wasn't given away. The girl I spoke to seemed confused and was like "no, if you don't give us your card information right away, we don't hold the appointment. you can only change your card on file for existing appointments." I was PISSED. So I asked if they still had the 7:30pm time slot available. They did not, but they had 8pm. Okay, fine. I could be a little bit late to my friend's birthday event. Annoying, but not the end of the world. I asked if I showed up early and they had a cancellation would I be able to be seen earlier/closer to my original appointment time. They said the chances were slim that someone would cancel on New Year's Eve, but it was worth a shot. I ended up arriving at the salon a little before 7:45 and promptly checked in, and hung out in the waiting area, which was standing room only (not a good sign). I was not offered a water or drink of any kind, which I believe is usually standard practice at Drybar salons. 8pm comes and goes. It's busy in the salon so I'm understanding at first, but still a little irritated because I was initially supposed to be seen at 7:30, and every minute past 8pm that came and went was another minute that I was later to my friend's birthday event that I PLANNED. Two girls leave because their appointment was also given away and they didn't want to wait so they decided to go home and do their own hair. I should have taken that as a sign that I should do the same, but I had already done my makeup, so I didn't want to have to re-do it and waste even more time. People who arrived after I did are seated for blowouts. I'm even more annoyed. 8:30 rolls around and I asked a woman who was seated in the waiting area with me what time her appointment was for, thinking it must be after mine if she's still waiting. Her appointment was at 7:45. 7-FREAKING-45. Shortly after she tells me this, she's brought back to get her hair washed. I'm happy for her, but wary because that means that I still probably have a ways to wait. Three different stylists have left the salon since I arrived, and one stylist is running around dancing and singing along to the music while sweeping up the front desk area. It's 8:45. I've been waiting for an HOUR, and I'm really really pissed off but at this point, I have no choice but to wait because I'm already late for my plans. I tell my friends to go on without me because I probably won't be making it and I will just meet them later at our destination for the evening, which is in Georgetown, and I drove from Virginia so I'm stuck figuring out what to do with my car on New Year's Eve. I FINALLY hear my name and it's the manager. She's super nice, apologetic, and accommodates me and does her best to style my hair as quickly as possible to get it close to what I had originally wanted (I wanted the Cosmo curls but since I was already running late I had her just do the fastest style which was the Manhattan, and she used the round brush to give me a little bit of the loose curl that I wanted). While she was styling my hair, she thanked another stylist for staying so late past the time she was supposed to leave on a holiday. If she had not been so amazing, I would have given a one star review and not left a tip. But she was so kind and positive, and my hair looked absolutely AMAZING, so I left a (small) tip and am adding a star to this review to give it two stars. I finally walked out of the salon promptly at 9:45, dropped my car off at my dad's house in Virginia, and got an uber back to Georgetown to continue my New Year's Eve festivities--only two and a half hours later than I planned!!!! *eyeroll* Drybar Georgetown: your stylists are amazing. PLEASE figure out your timing so that this kind of thing doesn't happen again. I understand it's a holiday and you're understaffed. That's fine. Just don't book appointments if you don't have the staff to get them done on time. Hope to return (when I'm not pressed for time) and change my mind/review. read more

What a dismal experience. I have had multiple blowouts at different Drybar locations, and the service at this location was by far the worst. First of all, I was running 2-3 minutes late, and attempted to call to let the salon know--after waiting on hold for several minutes, no one bothered to pick up the phone. When I finally did walk in and tried to check in with the front desk, the customer ahead of me was entrenched in a frustrating conversation with the receptionist, who couldn't understand the client's somewhat limited English and treated her with a completely unprofessional, disrespectful attitude. I had a bad taste in my mouth before I even sat in the chair. When I finally did check in, I was not offered a beverage (as is standard at other Drybar locations). My stylist, who did not introduce herself to me, had a similar apathetic attitude as the receptionist, as if she was in the midst of an existential meltdown and my hair was about to pay the price. Her suboptimal communication skills continued to manifest as she asked me what I was going for with my blowout, and greeted my extremely straightforward request for dramatic, loose waves with a blank stare. She then asked if what I wanted was like a "Mai Thai" (one of the standard styles in the Drybar look book)--I supposed that would have to do. At the hair wash station, there was an arrant hair belonging to another client in the basin. Yuck. The shampoo was rough, perfunctory, and not nearly thorough enough to adequately cleanse my massive head of thick, long, Indian hair. My stylist was also not big on small talk, which is fine, but still--no beverage offer, despite the fact that the client at the basin next to mine was offered one. I hate to complain about a complimentary beverage, but it was a hot day, and I was thirsty, and it's nice to treat all your clients with the same courtesy. The blowout itself was satisfactory to mediocre. It was clear that my stylist wanted to move on to the next client, because she finished my blowout in record time and it barely held up on my half a mile walk back home from the salon. What a disappointment. For a prime location in an excellent neighborhood, this Drybar is thoroughly deficient and needs to seriously assess its customer service standards, as well as the quality of the services and the cleanliness of the premises. read more

I went to Drybar yesterday because they had the TGITxDrybar special, so all hairstyles were free. This was my first time ever at a Drybar. First, my appointment (+1 guest) was at 8:00. I got there at 7:59. A large man with locs asked for my name and what I wanted to drink. I gave my info and drink request, then sat down. My guest arrived a few minutes later. At 8:17, still waiting, with no drinks. A woman asks "have you checked in? what's your name?" I told yer yes, my name is _. She says "well nobody checked you in." Again, I give her my name and drink request. At 8:25, still no drink, but I was finally called. I get shampooed and conditioned. My stylist (light skinned, distinctive teeth) was really "comfortable," but it was fine with me. I tell her I want my hair completely straight. She says "no curl at all?" I say "correct- no curl because I want to go home and trim my hair." After blowdrying, she gets the flat iron. Out the side of my eye, I can see her curling my hair! She says "I know you wanted it straight but I'm doing a slight curl so I can get the ends." I don't know why she doesn't know how to straighten my ends without curling, but whatever. A few minutes later, she mentions to me how even though it's free, the girl at the front should be reminding patrons to tip their stylist. I get the hint. She finishes and I turn around, my head is FULL. OF. CURLS. wtf. I didn't smile or anything. Just said thank you. My friend and I go to the front, she tips her stylist, I walk out. I don't understand how I ask for my hair to be completely straight and I leave with a whole curly head. I'm sure the stylist wasn't pleased. I wrapped my hair overnight and in the morning it was straight- exactly how I want. Because of the wait, the poor service in the beginning, and my stylist's complete disregard of what I wanted my hair to look like, I won't be going back to this location. read more

The location has gone completely downhill. I don't even live near Georgetown, but made the trek because I thought the stylists are the best at this Dry Bar (and there's parking0 However, the last few times I've gotten subpar service and I'm over it. 1) The woman at the front desk isn't very welcoming. No offering of drinks, how are you doing, nothing. Granted, I was one of the last appointments of the day, but her attitude showed she had checked out long ago and was annoyed that I was making life easier. 2) My hairstylist was also not very enthused with me being there, either. No introduction, how are you doing, what would you like today, nada. I was envious of other stylists who were offering their clients water, explaining the hair process (mine rinsed my hair with ice cold water with NO warming). However, I just wanted to get my hair done so I gritted my teeth and had a very unrelaxing experience. 3) The style was just okay. She was busy gossiping with front desk girl to really pay me attention. It was good enough for me to pin curl that night and get compliments the next day. But it wasn't the best style I've gotten out of DryBar. Based off all these reviews, it's clear customer service isn't really a priority for this location. Penn Quarter still seems to care about customer service so I suggest folks give them a try. I leave there feeling happy. I leave this location feeling frusturated. read more

TLDR: I attempted to go here on Saturday and will never be back, to this location or any other Drybar, because of their horrid customer service. I had never been to Drybar or gotten a blowout before, but I really wanted to look my best for my engagement photos later in the day, so I made an appointment and was really excited about it. I had heard great things from my friends. I showed up at Drybar right on the dot at 11:45am, the time of my appointment. There were a bunch of people in the waiting area, and all the stylists were busy with customers. When I checked in with the front desk, I was told to have a seat and they would be right with me. (Side note: front desk person was not particularly welcoming but I didn't think much of it as this point.) I sat down and waited for a few minutes, but was getting a little nervous about the wait because I had a makeup appointment at 1:15pm. At 11:52am I walked up and asked if all the other people in the waiting area were ahead of me in line. The guy says something to the effect of, "oh yes, there's like four other people ahead of you in line." I start to reply back and he interrupts me with, "we're running 30-40 minutes behind schedule, didn't someone call you? This is our busy season." I told him no, no one called me, and he says that they had called some of the clients about the delay. At this point I'm getting visibly stressed because all I wanted was to look nice for my photos and I knew I couldn't wait 30-40 minutes. I explain that and start to ask whether they're still going to charge me when he interrupts with, "oh no, we won't charge you, that would be bad business." I ended up leaving the salon crying. This guy made me feel so small because he was interrupting me at every turn and was incredibly rude. He demonstrated atrocious customer service skills and was very flippant about the whole situation. I work the front desk of a fitness studio and would NEVER imagine acting toward a customer like he did to me. The only good that came out of this situation was that I walked down Wisconsin Avenue and found Karen at Illusions Salon, which took me as an immediate walk-in, and they did a fantastic job (and for $5 cheaper!). Drybar, if you read this, please do a better job instilling customer service values in your employees. read more

I would give this place negative stars if I could. I arrived on time for a 7:15 am blowout that I booked for a special event that day. My stylist subsequently began complaining how tired he was after working a double the day before. She did not offer me anything to drink. When she started the blowout I told her exactly what I wanted and I asked for her to rough dry my hair a little first as to prevent damage. I could tell the blow dryer filter hadn't been cleaned in a while. When the dryer filter isn't cleaned on a regular basis with high traffic volume it tends to overheat and cause damage to the hair. I told her multiple times "ouch" "that's too hot" "that hurts". She clearly had NO idea what she was doing. I left with my hair a frizzy mess...I had to the wash and style it for my event. I then realized I had a burn on my scalp. It was painful enough I went to my doctor to get treatment for it. I reached out in tears to dry bar corporate and they swore up and down that someone would get back to me within 1-3 business days. Someone reached out to me 10 days later and offered NO solution. I asked for a refund at the bare minimum considering I had to pay a doctors bill for a blowout! I responded immediately to the email and have yet to hear back...once again! read more

Hmmm, so it's taken me a while to write this, however, I think it needs to be noted. I was part of a large group of girls in town for a friend's birthday, so there was a lot going on- I'll say that. However my low marks are not about the wait (which we did wait- it's understandable), it's more about the service. I found the staff- from the cashier to my stylists, to others in the shop not to be friendly or helpful at all. I noted that this was my first time getting a blowout, noting I kinda needed help learning the ropes and really didn't get anywhere. They just wanted me to pick a style and get on with it. Then came time for the styling- wow, even when I was young and my mom was upset with me and was doing my hair I have never felt that kind of pulling and yanking. Not fun and painful. And shame on me for not mentioning it, I just wanted it to be over. Sad. Really hoping for an experience as this was part of our "getting ready with our girlfriends" thing. My first Drybar experience was great! It was my birthday AND I had a formal event to go to that night, so I figured it'd be a good time for my first blowout. I have medium-length, straight, VERY thick hair, and blunt cut bangs (like Zooey Deschanel's, but obviously way less well-coiffed). I wasn't sure what style would look best on my hair because none of the models on the website had bangs like mine, so I strategized with Secely, my stylist, about what I should try. Ultimately, we settled on the Cosmopolitan (lots of curls) because they'd relax over the next few hours into the wavy look I wanted. Drybar is an ingenious invention for people who just don't have hair skillz like myself. Secely (in a mere 45 minutes) washed, dried, and curled my hair like a total pro! I got tons of compliments and cannot wait to go back once my hair is longer (I want to try a couple of other styles that would look better with longer hair). read more

I always have had bad experiences at Drybar and for some reason, after enough time goes, by I give them another shot. Not again. My sister and I went her to get hair done for a wedding. First in classic dry at fashion they took us 20 min late. My blowout out was generally fine but after we left the salon we walked ONE block for coffee and my sisters updo started falling out. We return to ask if someone could fix it and the two receptionists acted super weird and literally went in a closet. Meanwhile we are sitting in the salon, waiting for them to come back and others walk in to check in but of course there is no receptionist...finally they come back out after about 10 minutes and had totally forgotten about my sisters hair...When we ask what's going on they say well we don't know if you touched your hair insinuating it was my sisters fault (it was not, she didn't touch it and we made it one block). Turns out we find out later the woman who did the updo was on her lunch break and apparently no one else was willing to help. The receptionist of all people ends up trying to fix it and when I ask if we can have a few extra bobby pins in case it falls out again she says NO! the whole experience was so bizarre. We had paid over $200 and left 20% tips and then no one was willing to help fix the poorly constructed updo or even give us an extra bobby pin. Really terrible customer service read more

I loved my experience at Georgetown Drybar. From start to finish it was such a treat. I got to watch Pretty Woman while getting pampered, and I absolutely adore the finished result of my Cosmo curls. My stylist wasn't overly chatty, but that's my preference anyway. They even gave me a free umbrella because it was pouring out and I didn't have one. My only wish is that they could serve wine! I should have read the reviews. I will say the positives first. My appointment was on time. The receptionist was pleasant. The one star review is due to the rudeness of the stylist. I get my hair done all of the time and I have never felt so uncomfortable. She was very unpleasant in how she spoke to me the ways that she wanted me to lean were super uncomfortable. She seemed frustrated by everything that I did, and yelled at the stylist next to her when she bumped into her when walking by. It was all very uncomfortable. The worst is that I wanted my hair full and straight and I'm looking at a head full of curls. I should have said something about this style not being what I picked out, but I didn't feel comfortable. Updating this review to incorporate response from Drybar. Drybar has contacted me and told me they would address the issue and that I should feel free to contact the author of the email for personal service next time I book. I inquired about a refund and was told that"refunds cannot be issued once a service is performed". So, since the only time someone would be unhappy is after a service is performed, you should go at your own risk because the customer has no recourse if the service is performed poorly. This is awful client service and I will likely be taking my business elsewhere. read more

Not a fan. I'm sure there are better blowouts that would come from this place but I'm not sure they were occurring the day I was there. My first issue was the appearance of the stylists. They seemed really sloppy looking in clothes you would wear around the house. I was willing to overlook it if the blowout was good. The second was my stylist barely washed my hair. Her nails were like two inches long so you can sort of see how it would be hard to get the scalp washed if she didn't want to break her nails so, there was that problem. And then during the blowout the nails struck again. Kept scratching my neck and it just sucked. She couldn't even get my hair into sections because of her stupid nails. She didn't do a good job on the blowout and I was just tired and ready to leave. And it didn't last anyway. I got the mai tai, and I have curly hair. It didn't hold. Went today for a blowout, it was fine, nothing remarkable. I got home to find I didn't have my glasses. Called DB to see if I left them. Got the call center, Nina could not have been less helpful. Could not reach out to the shop, cannot provide direct number, would not call herself. She would only say "they are offline". I was just there, they are open. So, now I have to go back down there. This place is just not worth the trouble. Might be why the place was almost empty. Going forward, I will only deal with salons I can contact directly. This call center stuff is just weird, it's hair. Went back to see if they had my sunglasses. Guy at desk looked around the register, nothing. asked who did my hair and went to check with her. I could see her shaking her head no. Guy comes back to say, sorry when stylist closest to the door said "what color are they?" I said black and she promptly took them out of her pocket. So upset! I came to this location after having a really bad experience at a different location. I've been to this one before and had positive experiences. I scheduled an appointment for 7 pm and got there at 6:50, i waited for 40 mins and finally went up to the receptionist to ask what was going on as i was the only one waiting and there were a few stylists standing around. The receptionist proceeds to tell me it would be better if i just came back a different day because i was their last appointment for the night and many of the stylists were heading home (mind you they take appointments until around 9 pm!). I explained that I'd driven 30 mins to get there!!! And she just goes "I'm sorry". I've never experienced such poor customer service - I'm shocked! Drybar used to be somewhere i could go for quick, quality and friendly service but lately it's just been the complete opposite.... read more

If I could rate this DryBar location 0 stars, I would. I had an appointment for 7:15pm on May 7th. I arrived at the salon at 7:18pm and was told that my appointment could no longer be honored because i was late. I understand being 10-20 minutes late and not honoring my appointment, but i was THREE minutes late. My appointment was for a wash and blow out and was extremely important to me as I had sunrise engagement pictures that next day and wanted my hair to look nice for the pictures. I expressed this to the woman checking me in and she informed me that there was nothing they could do. Needless to say, I was devastated. They offered to curl my hair without washing it, but because I expected them to wash it, my hair had not been washed in two days and had no volume. I let them curl it anyway and as I expected, it came out looking awful and flat and certainly wouldn't hold up overnight. I didn't want to lose my money completely which is why I agreed to have them just curl my hair. I would've just walked out, but of course if i did that then i would've been charged $50 for absolutely nothing. In addition, there is ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE on the DryBar site that informs you that there is no "grace period" for the 7:15pm appointments, not even when they confirm your appointment with you via text. A little warning or caution would've been nice and would've helped me make the decision to Uber as opposed UberPool to get there (the reason i was three minutes late). I will not be returning to this DryBar location ever again. Just an update: As you can see below, they asked me to email them regarding this story. I did so and the email I got back was extremely unhelpful. They informed me that they ended up giving away my appointment which is not possible and a complete lie as there was only one customer there when I walked in and two open stylists...I'm not sure I'll ever return to any DryBar location, this is horrendous customer service. read more

This review is for Jamila! I have been to blowout salons all over the area and the best blowouts are from Jamila. My hair looks gorgeous and it lasts for days and days. She's the best. There are plenty of salons closer to me, but I am happy to keep returning to her despite the half-hour drive. I would have to politely disagree with the negative reviews; either this place has stepped up their game since those reviews or customer expectations were unreasonable. I booked a 7:45pm appointment maybe an hour and a half prior to my chair time...just wanted to put my Bar Fly membership to use and unwind from a crazy hectic week. I arrived early because I was already out, and was promptly greeted by the friendly receptionist and provided with the beverage of my choice. I told the receptionist I was early and would just hang out in the waiting area until my scheduled time. Several times during my wait she came over to check on me, apologize for the wait, and offer to refill my beverage. Keep in mind, I was about 15-20 minutes early. I was taken back to have my hair washed right on time. I would have liked a longer shampoo time, but that's just my personal preference because I think it feels good! I was seated in the room in the back, which I prefer as it is not as loud and busy. My stylist was so attentive to my needs and he asked me several questions about the look I was going for. He also checked in with me to make sure I wasn't in a time crunch. I thought that was a very considerate approach, but I wasn't in a hurry. He took his time and left me in peace to watch the movie playing, since I was just there to relax. He explained what products he was using, but I didn't feel like he was pressuring me to buy anything. Toward the end of my appointment, one of the staff members brought me over a travel-size gift set of products "for my wait." Again, I really didn't wait beyond my scheduled time. I thought that was a very nice gesture and really emphasized the customer-first approach. At the end of my appointment, my hair looked great, I felt relaxed, and i appreciated the customized attention from staff. The parking lot behind this location is free and obviously close, which is a rarity in Georgetown. Overall, I really like this location and overall experience. I would recommend to others. read more

I had never been to a Drybar before, but I had a big event so I decided to splurge. I made an appointment, but realized on my way there that I was going to be 10 (and no more than 10!) minutes late. At my usual salon, this is fine, but I decided to call and check. On the phones, they promised me it'd be fine and I could still see the next available stylist. I arrive and they say there's nothing they can do--I can't be seen at all that day (and it was only 10 am!) and I can't be seen at any other DMV location. It just seemed lazy and with no care at all for the customer. It's a mill and they know they are the big trend, so their lack of effort shows. I ended up walking into Aveda and got a wonderful blow out. Never going back to this overrated, overpriced circus. read more

This review is in regards to my dry bar appointment that I had scheduled at 4:30 PM on Monday, December 31. I cannot describe how extremely disappointed I was from the moment I walked in, till the moment I walked out of the Georgetown Drybar that day. I walked in a few minutes before 4:30 PM on the 31st. I booked my appointment almost a month out knowing it would be busy on NYE. Much to my surprise when I walked in I saw about 10-15 women in the packed waiting area. I was perplexed as to why so many women would be waiting without appointments, given that I imagined the likelihood of getting seen without an appointment was very low on a day like New Years Eve. While waiting in line to check in, I was blown away that all these women in fact had appointments. As I came up to check in I found out that the wait would be about 30 minutes, even though I had an appointment. I was told that I would have time to run across the street to grab some food, but if I was not back when my name was called that they would skip over me. I thought that was completely understandable and rushed to be back by 445, just on the off chance that they ran a little early. I figured they surely were telling me the max time I'd have to wait, so I didn't wait to mess up their schedule anymore than it already was. I came back and the amount of people in the waiting area had just gotten bigger. 5pm came and went and so did 5:30pm with no courtesy to update anyone on how behind they were. I finally came up to the receptionist at 5:30pm to ask how much longer I would have to wait. I was told another 30 minutes. That was not the case yet again, I was finally seen at 6pm. I completely understand being busy, even running 30 minutes behind can be understandable, but when the wait starts to run on the 2 hour mark for people with appointments it seems to me as though the almighty dollar what's more important, rather than your client experience. Appointments were clearly overbooked to make more money, as there is absolutely no way a dry bar in a location such as Georgetown does not understand what their bandwith is for their stylists to complete appointments on schedule. I truly feel for the stylists who were forced to take on an amount of appointments that they simply could not handle and the clients who were made hours late to their New Year's Eve plans made months in advance. There was no effort by management at the salon to right this wrong, and I even was told by the manager "that all their senior stylists were working too" as if that shouldn't be the case on a day as busy as New Year's Eve. The lack of proper decorum by management was astounding to me, and I cannot begin to imagine what will happen to this branch of Dry Bar in Georgetown if proper management is not put in place that puts the client experience first. Unfortunately, I tried to contact Drybar's customer service about this to get some sort of explanation. They contacted me 4 days later and then continually tried to set an appointment with me to discuss what happened. Each time they requested my availability they would respond after the multiple timeframes I would give them to schedule a call. Then once they missed multiple appointments they offered a $20 coupon, to spend more money on a place that clearly does not value their customers. read more

Last Monday I went to Drybar for a Cosmo-. It turned out great and lasted almost all day (my appointment was a 12:15). Yesterday, Monday, I returned for the same Cosmo. I was assigned a different stylist. This stylist was a sweetheart, but my hair was completely straight within 1.5 hours. I had a makeup appointment at Sephorah immediately after my drybar appointment and my make up artist asked, are you going to curl your hair? Lol, because my event was immediately after my makeup appointment, I had no extra time to return to drybar to show them that all my curls were 100% gone. Ugh. $45 + tip wasted and worse, my hair looked horrid for my event. read more

Worst dry bar ever. Dont waste your time by going there. My appointment was at 6:00 pm but I was told that there will be more than an hour wait even though I booked my appt way in advance when I got there. Some people had appointments at 4 pm and were still standing in line. The manager was extremely rude and when I told her I cant wait for more than an hour, she said I will be charged with a cancelation fee. Imagine that they are not only telling me that they will be more than an hour late and Obviously I couldnt wait, they also charged my credit card $45. Manager kept telling me that the system will do it and there is nothing that she can do. I kept asking for supervisor and she told me no one can do anything for me. Extremely disrespectful and rude. They also charged me without providing any service which is unacceptable. They should seriously do something about managing that center read more

Came here after a long day of work and a stressful week and Leeah was the best. I have very curly 3B/3C hair (bi-racial) and typically have to guide the stylist as too how to deal (deep condition and then comb, light on oil, not too much heat) with my hair but she understood exactly what I needed. Described the style I wanted and she flawlessly executed. Will be back! read more

I have had a bad experience at this location before, but wanted to give them a second chance. I had a dry style appointment this past Saturday with a friend who had an appointment at 3pm for a full blowout. Unfortunately, on the way over we experienced some scary car trouble, causing us to run late. We called the shop and said we would be 15 minutes late and walked in promptly at 3:15. It was my friend's 30th birthday and she had this blowout planned for weeks before her party - she was so excited. Unfortunately when we arrived reception was extremely rude, claiming we said we would be 10 minutes late (we had said 15) and that they had messaged us (they did not). I offered to give up my dry style, and my friend didn't need curls, just a hair dry, and we were still refused. I was really disappointed with the desire to not help us - the people here clearly do not want to work. Both the receptionist and the stylist were rude and dismissive. I understand that there are other appointments, but if we had a 3-4pm slot, she still could have had her hair washed and dried by 4. I was so disappointed with this as a longtime Drybar customer. read more

So after Client Services reached out with a $20 discount, I decided to return yesterday for another blowout. It was horrible. No one greeted me when I entered. I think the stylist up front actually gave me an eye roll. It was just as dirty as it was before. There were still large clumps of hair on the floor and bad music being played way too loud. What sort of management does not know how to maintain a clean and professional salon? Thank you Drybar for confirming my initial reaction of never returning again. read more

I never leave reviews but I feel like I want to warn people not to go here. I ended up leaving before my hair was styled. The receptionist was quite rude, to begin with. And she and the two stylists were badmouthing customers and complaining about their jobs very loudly and publicly. Then they only had two stylists on hand and were thus very overbooked and thus extremely behind. I waited 45 minutes and left because at that point I didn't even trust them to do my hair. I've been to dry bars before and had fine experiences. But this place was so bad-don't risk it and go somewhere else. read more

I'm a reporter and on camera host and due to a series of unfortunate events, needed a blow out ASAP for a shoot tomorrow at the Democratic National Convention. I booked the very last appointment on the books at 7:15 but was running late and it was close to closing time. I am so thankful for Tamisha and her manager Mercedes for accommodating me. Not only did these two ladies stay late to accommodate me, Tanisha slayed my hair and gave me some tips on how to help it maintain. I love dry bar anyway but these ladies knocked it out of the park. I am busy Xmas shopping, but must take time to review GTown Drybar! Amazing!!! My hair smells and looks wonderful. Definitely a timesaver. Tanisha was sooooo sweet and did a phenomenal job on my hair. I felt the pricing was very reasonable for the quality of service, my parking was free (despite a two hour service), and we had a great connection which helps a lot! We had a lil trouble checking out with my gift card, but Toya who I think is the manager worked it out. Very sweet also!!! I would definitely recommend. The only con was with my shampoo... I get a lil dandruffy and the shampoo definitely left me with a lot of that. Other than that l, completely satisfied. I'll be back!! read more

At first I was skeptical about dry bar, with the up and down reviews, but I'm so glad I went! Maya was awesome! My appointment started on time. The front desk was very helpful and nice. They offer coffee, hot tea, water and/or wine. Great service! The wash was very relaxing. When blow drying and flat ironing my hair she didn't yank my hair or hurt me at all. I have a lot of hair, it's very curly and not short. She only took an hour to do my hair. The at-home process is about two hours. I would definitely go again. Not to mention, I was able to watch Crazy, Stupid Love while my hair was getting done. I had a really great experience. I would definitely go back and request Maya. read more

I have finally found a stylist at this location that can handle my hair! Prior to my appointment, I called drybar only to find out I couldn't get in contact with the actual store which I didn't care for. I personally like to call the salon to ask who can handle natural African American hair. The "receptionist" who seems to be the receptionist for the entire company added a note to my appointment asking for someone who can straighten coarse hair. I was greeted at the front ON TIME (Which I love) by Tamia. She took my coat and sat me down for a mini consultation. I told her that I wanted tight curls so that they would fall by tonight. We went to the shampoo bowl where she did an EXCELLENT job with my shampoo. If you like a good scrub as well as a good massage she's awesome! I know some people don't like people all in their scalp scrubbing hard but I do. Shoot! That's the only way to make sure your scalp is clean! Now, when you're African American and you go to drybar they usually blow dry your hair first and then flat iron/style. She took her time blow drying my hair which I appreciate. I like my roots to be BONE straight. So straight that people ask if I got a perm( which I would never). Although it took her a while, which is expected since I have a lot of very thick hair, she finally finished and went on to flat iron/styling. She did an excellent job of getting my edges to lay down. I recommend Tamia and Drybar for African American women who can't stand being at a salon all day for a simple style. read more

I have come here 3 times, and I can officially say that I like everything about Drybar. Except for the location. Booking an appointment is easy - they have an online booking system. So if you loathe talking to people on the phone, don't fret! Once you arrive, they will probably tell you to wait in the waiting area while they tell your stylist that you are ready. They will also probably offer you a drink, which is always a plus in my book! (Also, once when I came they were giving out free Georgetown cupcakes! The first and probably only time I will eat one, but I digress). The stylist will wash your hair, then take you to the station which is well equipped with magazines and TVs that are playing some type of Chick Flick. Really not a bad way to pass the time. They have some sort of "recipe book" with different hairstyles to choose from, but I have always just gotten the classic blowout with a slight curl on the ends. So far, no disappointments! Quick, and the blowout usually lasts 3 days! Now the bad. The location is FAR up Wisconsin. Not accessible really to public transportation and FAR from M Street in Georgetown. So be warned. As someone who doesn't have a car, it is annoying to have to pay for a cab or risk my hair being ruined on a walk home if it is particularly humid or starts raining. Otherwise I would probably be coming here a lot more. So that is definitely something to consider. read more

Im officially a fan! My hair came out fabulous to say the least. im use to paying at least $100 for this service and was getting frustrated with DC and the cost of a good blow out. Natasha was my stylist and did an excellent job. I felt like I was hanging out with my big sis and was so comfortable. I walked in with my hair looking like a complete wreck and took a risk trying a new place. I usually hate using a flat iron because I hate using too much heat, but after a "shot" treatment and protective products my hair feels like silk! I was skeptical at first because of the price and it being my first time, but Im sold. I loved Natasha! It really made my day... I wish I took a before and after, what a fabulous job! I went to Drybar in Georgetown on a Saturday. It was pretty far for me to go to get my hair washed and styled (let's just say way out of my way) but the concept was interesting and I figured I deserved a treat as it was my birthday, why not hang out in the most stylish area of DC and get my hair styled? I arrived right on time for my appointment and didn't have any waiting time but was taken back to get my hair washed right away by my stylist, Monique. She asked how I wore my hair normally and I told her parted on the side and curled with a flat iron. I asked for the "Southern Comfort" style - big curls and lots of volume. This came with the warning that my hair really didn't normally have *any* volume unless it was teased basically to death and then combed up and over the teasing. Well, that really didn't happen. Monique also used tons of dry shampoo, to "hold my style longer" yet all it really accomplished was a smell that stayed with me for several days. The style time itself was acceptable, and they play girlie movies while you're getting your hair done which is cute. However, I was just expecting more than some curls and some dry shampoo spray. I went home and pulled my hair back for my event because I had turned out to look at bit like a poodle, but by the time it the style part was over (with very little volume accomplished) it was getting close to my dinner reservation. I wouldn't go back to Drybar for a special event as it doesn't seem like they can accomplish what their lookbook promises. For $50 ($40 plus tip), I could have done my hair myself and spent the money on products for a few months. Not happy.It was my first time at drybar I was excited. I had an appointment and had to wait 20 min, the receptionist was very friendly tho and apologized, he also washed my hair but the women who did my hair was miserable, pulled my hair, nearly burned my scalp for holding the hair dryer on for too long and then instead of doing lots of curls did big sections so I only had like 6.. definitely not worth 45$. I tipped very generously but regretted it. This was my first and last time at Drybar! read more
