Drybar used to be cool a couple years ago when it first came out, but now their hairdressers are rude and uninspired. I was seen a full hour after my appointment time and was charged extra for getting my hair pinned when I brought my own pins from home. I told my hairdresser in the notes when I made the appointment and at the beginning of the service again that I would want my hair pinned she acted like it was the end of the world and was incredibly rude and then proceeded to charge me an extra $25 for pinning my hair, when my friend who received the exact same service sitting next to me was not charged $25. I won't be back to this dry bar or any other next time. I'll just have my own hairdresser blow out my hair. Drybar used to be cool. It's so over now read more

Horrible experience. I spent $70 on this "blowout" that turned out to be a disgrace. Not only did the person doing my hair go missing for 10+ minutes while I sat with wet hair, she had no idea what she was doing. I showed very specific style that I wanted and she just sprayed 10 different products in my hair and started to blow it out and couldn't even figure out how to put a roller or a curl in my hair. Turned out looking the exact opposite of what I wanted. Totally disappointed and will not be coming back to this location! Don't waste your money. read more

It was great at first, but sadly due to too many issues with billing I decided to enroll through one paseo drybar which has been amazing!!! However, now when I schedule a blowout at this Encinitas location they always cancel without a phone call or any reasoning. Very unprofessional but I decided to write a review since this has happened over 5 times (in which no one ever called to reschedule or give any reasoning). I have dry and hard to manage hair. It's so nice to go to dry bar and give my arms a break. This location is convenient and close to my house. I always book my appointments with Angie because she styles my hair exactly how I like it without too much product. A glass of champagne also makes getting my hair done so relaxing! read more

Had an awful experience this weekend. I came in with a guest of mine to prep for a wedding we were attending. I'm a member and they told my guest that her blowout wasn't covered when she just asked what she could get. I was obviously covering it and I should have been consulted instead of telling my guest something incorrect. Even at checkout she asked if we were paying separately and obviously not...I was treating my guest so it made the whole experience poor. On top of that, despite our reservation time, my guest didn't get a stylist until 35 minutes after. We were also offered drinks that we didn't get until nearly 40 minutes into service. To make it worse, my blowout dropped after 3 hours. Just a serious bummer all around. Definitely do not recommend. There's a reason I'm canceling my membership and this experience is one of them. read more

On September 25th I unfortunately had a terrible experience at this drybar. My visit began with the hair stylist trying to change my mind about the service I booked & requested. Her attitude, body language, & facial expression was very uncomfortable. It didn't seem like she felt confident in the hairstyle I wanted and it showed because the final look was not executed (half up half down with curls). She even brought over another employee to explain what to do. I probably should have left the chair or changed my hairstyle but I had a wedding that evening & was excited to get my hair done. The stylist proceeded to curl my hair with a flat iron which made no sense due to the fact that they had curling irons & it was SO painful! Also when teasing my hair she pulled my hair upwards really hard, putting my hair in a ponytail & flipping it aggressively in front of my face, etc. From the moment she began to the very end, she hurt my head so so badly, i had to take some Tylenol when I got home. She didn't speak to me at all while in the chair, worst customer service I have ever experienced. Overall, I was truly disappointed with the visit so unfortunately I will not be returning & I do not recommend this location. read more

A perfect place to go when you are in the mood for a little pampering. The only reason why I am giving 4/5 was because I made an appt for 9 AM and was not seen till 9:30 AM. So, may want to give yourself some cushion if you have somewhere to go after getting your blow out. They really do use the best products, always leaves my hair super smooth for at least 3 days. The owner of this salon is a JOKE!!!!!! She's condescending and rude. I had an appointment which I thought was at 215 pm and showed up at 208 thinking I was early. Turned out my appointment was at 2pm. When I got there the receptionist was super rude (the salon was empty ) and said sorry were not going to be able to take you. The owner then came up and "apologized" for the receptionist and then said we have a 10 minute cancellation policy then told me to look at my phone and check the time. At that point it had been 9 minutes later then my scheduled appointment. She then said sorry it's been 10 minutes and that they weren't going to accept me. Mind you I was going to an event and had planned on getting my hair done for it. Not only did they ruin my day but all the photos for the event since my hair looked like trash. I will never be going back to this Drybar and will be surprised if I go to another one after this. read more

This was my second time getting a blowout at this location. Both times the stylists were late, claiming car troubles. My appointment was scheduled for 8am. When I arrived the salon was closed. I didn't receive a call until 10:15, when someone finally opened the salon, offering me a complimentary blowout. I rearranged my schedule to come in only to be charged at the end of the service for my extensions. The blowout was awful. No tools during the blow dry, flipped out ends and a flat iron, which fried the front of my hair. To make matters worse, the stylist pulled my hair so hard that she pulled the track of my extensions out. Do not waste your time or money here. read more

She wanted to put a lot of different products in my hair and on my hair... I let her do it, I am 77 years old and my hair is pretty thin and gets heavy easily and now I just had this done and I don't think my hair looks that good. She did it very quickly maybe took 10 or 15 minutes. I think putting a lot of product and makes it easier for the stylist. Previously when I've had my hair blow dried I didn't have them put product in and it lasts a long time I'm sure by tomorrow my hair is going to look dirty and tomorrow is the event I need it done for. They were very nice at the salon. No complaints in terms of service but not happy with the results. read more

This Drybar location is the worst ever! I have been a Barfly member for the last four years and I've never experienced anything as bad as this! I showed up for my appointment on time paid for my blow dry and then got home and noticed I was charged for a no-show fee of $45z When I called the shop, they said they would look into it and never got back to me. I tried to call again and they were extremely rude saying that I was late for my appointment and therefore I was charged a no-show fee plus my service charge. How does that work? How can they provide a service and charge a no-show fee at the same time. This is an absolute fraud and the owner should be ashamed of how she's running the store. My very first time at any Dry Bar and I'm super disappointed. I booked online and there is an option to give a comment on what you specifically want. I specifically wanted the "old fashioned" which is a pin up style. When I got to the salon she asked me what I wanted and I said the same thing. She gave me this "disclaimer" that my hair throughout the day will eventually look like the Mai tai. I thought it was odd that she kind of made me feel like I shouldn't get that hair style, but my thought was, ok, I know ANY hair style loses it's shape so I still went with it. When she was blow drying my hair and pin in it I thought this is going to look great but as she took the pins out she started to create curls and my hair looked like the "cosmo" I was not happy. I did let her know that it didn't look like the old fashioned and she gave me this bs answer telling me that it looks different of different types of hair. I'm sorry but I've had my hair done pin up style before and this was not it. Not even close. I left that day super dissatisfied and disappointed. The pictures I added are exactly after she was done. My first time going to DryBar, and I won't be back. The salon was beautiful and loved the welcome glass of champagne, so I was excited right out of the gate! I got paired with a stylist and I think she maybe said a dozen words to me the entire service, which is totally fine if the job she did was amazing, but it wasn't. When she was washing my hair, my hair kept getting stuck in her fake nails (eww) and I could tell by the way she was curling my hair that she was either rushing or just not knowing how to create fluffy curls. By the time I got home, my curls had already fallen and my hair was super flat. My husband actually asked later that evening when I was going to get a blowout, because he quite literally couldn't tell I had gotten my hair done. Honestly, I think I just got a low skilled stylist, because I was watching her do an 'updo' right before my appointment, and it was not good, and you could tell from the customer's face that she was not happy. read more

Quick summary for those who don't want to read a novel--- Made appt. approximately 10 days out for my baby shower. Arrived on time to be stood up by the stylist. Nobody could step in. Ended up being late to my own shower. I have waited about 2 weeks to actually sit down and write this review, thinking my frustration over this whole experience would dissipate. It has not. This salon is near my home, so I figured it would be a good place to get a blow out before my baby shower. I recently purchased a halo hair extension and have not quite mastered putting it in, so I was looking forward to this blow out. I do not regularly get blow outs. I've only ever done 2, both for special events at different salons. To make the appointment I walked in and spoke with the young lady at the front desk. She was very sweet and clearly new to the job. It was difficult to explain to her what a halo extension was, as well as what I wanted out of my style: all down, just some big volume and soft curls. After about 5 minute and help from another staff member we got it figured out and scheduled for 10am the following Sunday. My baby shower was in Rancho Santa Fe at noon, so I knew it would be a tough squeeze. But accepted their 10 am slot as I was told it was their first appointment of the day. I arrived promptly at 9:59am to the salon, ready to go-- hair mostly dry to make the blow out as quick easy and quick as possible. I was told to wait as my stylist would be there any minute. Trying to keep my anxiety at a minimum I made conversation with the front desk girl, inquiring about products with the intention of adding something extra to the gift basket I had made for my baby shower hostess. This young lady, who was still quite new, could not answer a single one of my questions. Oh well. It's about that time that I realize there are 3 other women already in chairs having their hair done. Interesting considering I got their when they opened and was supposed to be the earliest appointment. Could I have actually gotten there earlier? Don't know, oh well. 10:15am, now I ask again, if the stylist is there. The owner comes out and tells me she's not coming, we have no one to do your hair, I can't do hair, we can take you at 10:45. She was not pleasant about it either. I am 8 months pregnant, terrible at doing hair and have just had 30 minutes of precious time wasted. I am not proud of how I reacted-- very outspoken, probably a curse word or two with a slightly raised voice. Never in my life have I been so upset with a service person! The stress of getting everything done that morning in time to make it to my appointment only for it to be canceled really got to me. In the probably 30 second tongue lashing I delivered while packing my bag back up, I did apologize to both the owner, and the ladies getting their hair done who had to have noticed my distress. I rushed to the car, sweating at this point, rushed home, did a real crap job on my hair and rushed to Rancho Santa Fe. It did not ruin the day, but it certainly made for a stressful morning. Looking back, I can not say I am pleased with my reaction, but I don't think I could have done anything differently at the time. Maybe if the owner had offered me a free blow out for the trouble, or even a discounted one I would not feel so obligated to write this review. Anyway, if you need a blow out for a special event, unless you know the stylist personally I highly recommend going somewhere else. I won't ever count on DryBar Encinitas again. Horrible experience. My second time here and we had to wait 30 minutes. I decided to give this location another chance after waiting nearly 30 minutes my first time. What really is wrong with the situation is that we booked a dry style. The stylist informed me that my daughter's hair was slightly damp, so the price would be $64 compared to a $39 dry style. You would think that they would waive the blow dry fee since my daughter's hair was clean and at most needed a quick 5 minute or less dry. At the point I said I might as well have them do the whole package is I would be paying the full price anyway. The manager and stylist would not budge and after being 30 minutes behind schedule we decided to leave the Dry Bar because we didn't want to give them our business. My friend and her daughter also left with us because they couldn't believe the poor customer service. This was their first time at the Dry Bar and they won't be back either! read more

This Drybar used to be my go to spot! I had a membership and would come once a week since having my daughter I'm not able to come as much, but would still come every other month at least! I have super long, thick hair and always make sure to put that in the notes to allocate for extra time- plus considering I have been coming here since it opened very regularly, I would assume they know! I am always happy to go with any stylist because I know they all do an awesome job however, some stylist take significantly longer than others. I was super disappointed today to have an extra time fee of $30 with no warning had I known I would have requested a different style or tried to work with them to make it to the one hour mark. I also find it so interesting that at Drybar in one Paseo when a newer stylist took a longer than usual on my hair they actually offered for me to have my blowout for free! On top of all of this, the base blowout has now been raised to $65 so the price has doubled from what I paid two years ago! I am aware that my hair takes extra time and would always leave a 25 to 30% tip to the stylist for this. Didn't want the stylist to lose out on this situation, but now that it's costing almost as much as it cost to get my hair highlighted and cut for a blowout just can't see myself coming here too much going forward.
