I understand that times are crazy and that with salons just reopening that scheduling is difficult - HOWEVER - I think my experience with Larissa and Vohg needs to be honestly reviewed, especially as a first time customer. Let me first say - this place was PACKED. Easily 20 people in a tiny salon. If you are looking for social distancing, this is NOT the place. I used Vohg's online scheduler to book an appointment with any available stylist. I chose a middle of the day appointment on a Thursday. I chose the standard women's haircut option and booked. I arrived 10 minutes early and stood at the front desk area without being greeted in any way for about 5 minutes. Finally one of the stylists asked me who was doing my hair and I told them Larissa. She was working on another client and told me to come and sit down in a chair by her. My appointment time came and went and she ended up starting on me about 20 minutes late. We discussed what I wanted and she washed my hair (with cold water ): ) and told me she was going to cut my hair dry. She blow dried my hair and as she was finishing my blowout, her next appointment showed up and she mouthed/signaled to her "10 minutes". Well at this point she has not even begun cutting my hair! I have very thick hair and it's a bit long - it is really frustrating to see her telling another client 10 minutes when she hasn't even started cutting my hair. Well, she starts whipping through my hair very quickly cutting it - she is obviously stressed and rushed. While cutting my front bang area, she begins telling me I need to pay via Venmo. This is weird! Discussing payment before she's even done cutting my hair - basically rushing me out of the seat. She goes outside to talk to her other client again - Do they not have a receptionist here?? She gets to the end - she asks me how I like it. The front is visibly uneven and the ends are all very very blunt and heavy. She did not show me the back at all. I ask her to check for evenness in the front because I can see that the right side is visibly longer and she is rushing me out of the chair telling me she will text me in case I want any changes or more weight/movement taken out. I drove all the way from Escondido for MY APPOINTMENT. Why would I need to come back? Why not just cut my hair and let me leave with it looking good now?? Instead, you are basically shooing me out as fast as I can pay. Honestly, the whole experience was so unprofessional and not relaxing at all. To get rid of the bluntness, I'm going to have to lose more length and honestly - I shouldn't have to go back to a salon for a basic haircut because a mistake was made scheduling clients. Didn't feel valued or welcomed as a new client and won't be back. read more

Speaking from years of personal experience and going to lots of hair stylists who have missed the mark, this type of hair can be very difficult to master but Brenda has nailed it! I went in during the thick of Covid with super long, overgrown and brassy hair and she brought it back to a healthy length and to a beautiful chocolate brown color which I wanted, as I was desiring a drastic change from before and she achieved the look I wanted in one session!! She is very efficient and tidy with her work, and it was clear to me that she cared so much about keeping my hair healthy and beautiful rather than rushing through and "just getting it done." It's never a fun task to search for a new hair stylist/colorist. I was seeing the same gal for over nine years and had to part ways due to her moving out of town. I was lucky enough to get my hair done with her one last time just days before everything shut down due to the ongoing pandemic. In July, I was able to get my hair done again and chose to go to another well named salon in Encinitas. After four months of growth, I was well overdue and anxious to have my hair done. I really wanted to like this salon, I came in with postpartum hair that needed some balayage maintenance. I was specific in what I used to get before I moved to the area. Last minute during my visit I was told the stylist didn't think we should feather out my tips because it would accentuate a previously bad haircut she was trying to fix...I figured okay, head stylist would know best. Months later I still hate it and looking back at my cc statements, I can't believe this is what a $395 salon service got me. Even a week after the service I called to see if we can make it right since my hair looked very brassy and streaky. Even giving them a chance to keep me as a customer, nobody called me back. Unbelievable I was a previous hairstylist & salon owner going through a neck injury disability, just needed some simple help putting a few highlights in my hair. I have a very sweet, easygoing & understanding demeanor, I saw some good reviews with Vohg, I called to schedule and the receptionist was very sweet, said stylist Vanessa would be perfect for me. I asked the prices for a partial highlight since only my roots needed highlighted, She quoted me $95-$150. I Called back the next day to confirm the pricing & time it would take to be clear since I have no income going through a disability. The same receptionist said she understood me double checking & would have Vanessa call me. Vanessa text me to confirm but didn't call which would have prevented a lot, everything I was told in scheduling didn't happen. I showed up for my appointment 15 minutes before, was offered tea, & instead of smiles, I got looks up & down from everyone in salon, how rude/competitive & uninviting energy, Vanessa approached, I expected the sweet demeanor like the reviews said, She barely spoke to me as if I shouldn't have even walked in the door, it was the most uncomfortable experience, Even when I complimented & tried to engage in friendly conversation. I explained I needed my roots highlighted, I like lots of blonde but not overdone & don't need a toner or anything extra. I was so surprised how fast I was done within 30-45 minutes. I was considering a haircut so asked Vanessa at shampoo bowl how much my highlights were? expecting the max quote I was told of $150. She replied "$250" I Oh my, explained how I was told differently since that price jump wasn't explained to me. As if that's how they get you in the chair. I didn't even need my hair blown out, dried or styled, left with wet hair. When I explained it to the front desk girl She looked at me and said flippantly "well She just did it so..." I was like Wow... bc it wasn't explained to me they charged me $200 When I got home I realize a lot of sections of my hair wasn't even highlighted if I was getting charged for a "full head." I called to explain and girl said she would call me back, clearly they could care less about customer service, or a happy Client with a good review which I love & prefer giving good reviews. I asked to speak to the girl who scheduled me, not only could I not reach her multiple times but they would not return my messages or phone calls, as if they just Told me one thing, overcharged me, & took more money, and then didn't care about the rest or a happy returning customer. Like they didn't deliver what I was overcharged for, but took the money & ran, dismissive & disposed. Being a salon owner/stylist for so long I'm pretty understanding & surprised any place would function like that & not even care to make it right.
