Some of the most beautiful home-grown steaks to ever exist
Jessica H.

Incredible variety of locally and ethically raised beef, lamb and pork. The store also sells bulk, everything from whole muscle cuts and rib slabs to individual steaks. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and the meat speaks for itself. This place is putting Parowan Utah on the map! The store is clean and beautiful, the staff treat you like family and will spend all the time you could want answering questions and helping you plan your meals. They are honest and the operation is transparent. If you want to know exactly where your meat comes from and that it is as fresh as possible, this is it. Just standing there in line (which sometimes takes a while) you can hear grateful customers praising the products and often talking about how it helps them and their families to have found such a great source of clean, delicious, high quality meat. That inspires a lot of confidence! In addition to all this, there ladies will gift wrap any item and make it beautiful for you. It is truly a godsend for local shopping and health food in Utah. They also offer preorder so you can plan your trip and fill your freezer easily.

Just stopped by to get some meat to take back home. The employees were so knowledgeable and very friendly! We will definitely be back

Hands down, the BEST meat I've ever had. Once you eat it you'll never go back to another store again. The employees are always friendly and take their time to get you the best quality meat ever. Can't say enough good things about this little "hole in the wall " butcher shop.

Absolutely worth every penny, every minute of our time spent on the ranch, and all the seconds over…read morethe phone with Jackson! There is a reason to everything that they tell you, and the process you go through to get to the most rewarding experience with these beautiful horses. If you lack patience, discipline, and are only looking for instant gratification, this experience is not for you. If you're not going to listen, and are not open - this experience is not for you. From the start, Jackson sets the pace for the process. Do NOT come here expecting your hand to be held. You need to hold your own and it's for good cause. This was the most beautiful experience that my family and I could ever have together with such amazing animals. You will be wrecked, because no other place does it like they do at Jacob's Ranch. What Josh, Michelle, and Annika do is so special. Jackson isn't lying when he says it's not a nose to tail experience. Be ready to get down and dirty, to work, and be a leader. We will never forget this experience and I don't recommend it for everyone but I do recommend it to those who are open and willing to learn and reap the rewards. My family and I never worked with horses, never been up this close to horses, and most especially never rode horses like this before. At the end of the day, we could proudly say that we did it! We rode them up and down hills, through narrow trails, trotted through open dessert, while the sun was high in the sky till it was beginning to set for the night. We were on this journey with a couple from SC, who have been on horse rides all over the world and they said they've never been to a place like Jacob's Ranch. Needless to say, at the end of the day- we were all so proud of ourselves and amazed at the adventure we had together!

Jakson will talk for nearly an hour yet tell you nearly zero details about the ride, he kept me on…read morethe phone forever without giving me any clear information. Instead, he insulted me, saying I "don't know anything because of my age," and bizarrely tried to convince me to read the Quran while speaking poorly about other religions, and political stances, totally unprofessional and inappropriate for a business call. After the call, he rang me back 20 minutes later acting like he didn't remember me and insisted I sit through a 30-minute "discussion" about what the experience entails. Yet every time I said I was ready to hear it, he wouldn't stop with his condescending and abusive remarks. At that point, I realized booking with them wasn't worth the frustration. Based on other reviews, this is clearly a pattern, very odd, avoid at all costs!!

Cons: WAY overpriced for what you get. For the price, you would think they would roll out the red carpet for you so to speak, as has been the case at other all-inclusive places we have been to. When we arrived, there was a very stale, boring feel to the place, not a good first impression. We arrived a little before lunch so we checked into our room and headed down to the lodge. We weren't really greeted much except by the girl who checked us in. Then up to the rooms and they were very plain and old. We entered our room from the outside, in back, and up two flights of stairs. Our bathroom was locked and unlockable so we had to actually go to the front desk since there's no phone to contact them in the room. So we got an alum wrench from the front desk to unlock it and it didn't work so we had to go back down to get someone who eventually came up to unlock it for us. We were anticipating a nice lunch when we headed down to the dining room. However it ended up that THE FOOD WAS DISGUSTING! While we assumed there might be brisket, pulled pork, steaks, beans, and typical and FRESH cowboy food, this food was anything but all that. There were no choices. You either got a hot, a hamburger, and a couple different sides. The food tasted like food that has been sitting in a freezer for a few months and was taken out and heated up a little. The hamburger had a texture similar to that of a beef jerky. It had the smell of hospital food. So, not off to a great start! Worse, looking forward to the next 3 days of this kind of food was definitely a nightmare. In the center of the lodge was a table full of Books of Mormon and we aren't Mormon so it felt a little uncomfortable. We were way up in the mountains and not much around, but we did give in and drive 30 minutes up the road to a mom and pop restaurant one morning to grab a nice fresh breakfast to start the day off right. I was having a hard time not gagging when eating the food at the ranch so plugging my nose while trying to just get full was not a real joy. Our assigned table in the dining area was on the outside edges and a full family who was there for a family reunion took up the whole inside of the dining room. For drinks, we chose between watered down apple juice, orange punch, or water, no soda, no alcohol, that was it. We got through it I guess. Our first activity was horse riding in the arena, followed by a trail ride. All the workers were in their teens and didn't seem particularly excited to work there. The enthusiasm just wasn't there. So after the arena and trail ride our schedule allowed for a couple hours rest before dinner...and saying I was looking forward to that is like saying elephants can fly. There wasn't much to do so we just went and rested in our dusty, old, dilapidated room. Then, we went to dinner, no good again. Following dinner we had heard there might be some live music playing so we went out back to watch and that was lame. Little kids played on the swing set, about 4 people got up and sang a little, while my teenagers sat there with us in the hard metal chairs pretty bored. The only thing that was decent was the shaved ice you could buy at the little stand they opened up at the last minute. However, the shaved ice was FOR PURCHASE when with the amount of money we paid to be there, we shouldn't have had to pay. We even paid once for some ice cream from the gift shop which was always closed unless you bugged someone to open it up for you. We saw that they actually had soda too but for purchase as well in the gift shop. The second and third day was a packed schedule with some fun in the arena again, a trail ride, some hiking, archery and many of the activities they offered. They were okay, but they scheduled long trail rides and arena time back to back, which was HOT at this time of year. We were in the direct sun for hours each day. The thing I looked forward to so much was some river rafting but not sure why but it wasn't even included when we went. I overheard someone saying they weren't doing it at the time, but I'm not sure why. The other thing is that if you want to swim, don't plan to do it here. The pond is muddy and mushy on the bottom, not a swim spot at all. If you want to play pool or any games you have to check out incomplete sets of equipment at the front desk and go play in an old, dusty, hot room in the back. My favorite activities were the archery, arena, trail rides, and the volleyball we played one night. However, our activities often started late and most of the employees were very unenthusiastic. I even got an "in our territory" kind of feeling from them often. WE WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

I would recommend bringing some dvds because I wasn't able to stream anything except YouTube. The Cabin did include free WiFi. But there was a blue ray dvd player in the room. The sunrise, sunset and stars at night were amazing! There is also a separate shower, I just didn't get a picture of it. The room also had a sink in the dining area and a good sized mini fridge, coffee machine and microwave. Our first night there we did the sunset horse ride with Madison. Madison was excellent!! I was really nervous about getting on the horse and she helped me out and was attentive and informative during our ride. She was very personable, knowledgeable and fun! The views on the ride were incredible. If I could've, I would've done it every day we were there! ZMR is located just outside of Zion and it was a very short drive to get to the park and hiking trails. It was nice and peaceful. Not overcrowded even though it seemed like every cabin had a resident.

The mini fridge had broken shelves and no door on the freezer sections...so in the middle of the night our soda cans froze and exploded. The most disappointing part was the general unclean state of the cabin. There was a lot of dust over every surface, cobwebs all over (including the shower ceiling), mystery stain on the comforter for the bed, dirty shower, long dark hair in the sink and on the bed pillow and crumbs on every surface. We talked to staff the first day we arrived and the second day when we checked out. They were kind and listened and said they would look into a discount for us. I received a text from the ranch with a survey and when I rated it a "3", they said they would forward my concerns to management. It's been a week and no one has reached out and no discount was given. Overall, very disappointed with the room and the lack of contact from the Ranch. I wont be back and would not recommend staying there.
