    The Juniper Trail

What an incredibly fun adventure for the whole family! I wasn't sure how my kids would do so I booked the Juniper trail as it was the shortest ride. By the end, everyone agreed we would definitely should have booked a longer trail. Our wrangler, Avery, was amazing. At first, I raised a questioning eyebrow because she put my youngest child on the biggest horse. But she explained that horse assignments were based on horse personality and rider's experience. That big horse was the gentlest one. Avery set a very nice pace that was slow enough to make us feel confident in the saddle yet fast enough that it felt like a real horse ride. Please be aware Apple Maps was entirely wrong (as of December 2023). You have to use Google Maps for the correct location.

Rising K Ranch topped off our day after hiking The Narrows in Zion. You might think nothing could follow The Narrows - Rising K Ranch was the icing on the cakenof a perfect day! First of all we were greeted by 3 lovely dogs and a nice gentleman who made us feel right at home on their beautiful property with a majestic mountain backdrop for scenery. Casey introduced herself as our wrangler and got us paired up with compatible horses. She took us on a gorgeous ride to match our skill level, took pictures of us, and graciously shared a small piece of her world with us. If life ever brings me this way again, I will for sure be back. So highly recommended!

Was pleasantly surprised to find the horseback ride came with loving dogs that joined along on the ride. Happy to say that the animals on this property were all in wonderful conditions. Unfortunately not all animal related businesses operate with the animal's health in mind. Rising K met our expectations and then some. Knowledgeable staff, easy to book our ride and they matched my daughter and I with horses that suited our abilities (or lack thereof lol) We did half day ride and will definitely be back to pet Willow the puppy and go on a full day ride up the mountain.

Amazing beautiful and everyone was super kind. Pit Stop was a good horse. The guide was super Nice. I loved the dogs if the ranch so fun

Our family went horseback riding with Rising K and it was perfect! Our kids are young and they were so great with them. Kaysie was our guide and she was so knowledgeable and lots of fun. We will definitely be back!

This was such a fun experience! Lydia was my tour guide and she was incredible. We had wonderful conversations while riding along the trails. I am pretty comfortable on horses, but it had been awhile since I'd ridden and she made sure I was comfortable the whole time. I went solo, but I would recommend any size group to this ranch if you're looking for a nice ride with beautiful scenery! My horse, Biggins, was so calm and friendly. Also, the ranch dogs are so cute and love to play fetch! I 100% recommend this ranch to anyone!

We came to Utah in search of snow so when that didn't work out we decided to look into horse riding. My family is pretty experienced so I know my daughter was worried that it would be all walking, but the trail ride was fun for all of us. There's a lot of horses to choose from based on skill and clay even taught us how to work them in the round pen. The ride was a blast for all of us. I thought 4.5 hours would've been enough, but I never wanted it to end. Well except my knees were hurting haha.

This was the best horseback riding experience I've had in years. I found it thru Yelp and it was only 10 min from the hotel. Spoke to Klay on the phone one day before and he set me up with Katie as my wrangler. I was taught how to saddle my horse and to trot. Katie was phenomenal!!!! She and I had a blast like we've known each other for ever. I payed for the half-day. Beautiful scenery! I will surely come back!

Great owner! Experienced, helpful and friendly.

Absolutely worth every penny, every minute of our time spent on the ranch, and all the seconds over…read morethe phone with Jackson! There is a reason to everything that they tell you, and the process you go through to get to the most rewarding experience with these beautiful horses. If you lack patience, discipline, and are only looking for instant gratification, this experience is not for you. If you're not going to listen, and are not open - this experience is not for you. From the start, Jackson sets the pace for the process. Do NOT come here expecting your hand to be held. You need to hold your own and it's for good cause. This was the most beautiful experience that my family and I could ever have together with such amazing animals. You will be wrecked, because no other place does it like they do at Jacob's Ranch. What Josh, Michelle, and Annika do is so special. Jackson isn't lying when he says it's not a nose to tail experience. Be ready to get down and dirty, to work, and be a leader. We will never forget this experience and I don't recommend it for everyone but I do recommend it to those who are open and willing to learn and reap the rewards. My family and I never worked with horses, never been up this close to horses, and most especially never rode horses like this before. At the end of the day, we could proudly say that we did it! We rode them up and down hills, through narrow trails, trotted through open dessert, while the sun was high in the sky till it was beginning to set for the night. We were on this journey with a couple from SC, who have been on horse rides all over the world and they said they've never been to a place like Jacob's Ranch. Needless to say, at the end of the day- we were all so proud of ourselves and amazed at the adventure we had together!

Instead, he insulted me, saying I "don't know anything because of my age," and bizarrely tried to convince me to read the Quran while speaking poorly about other religions, and political stances, totally unprofessional and inappropriate for a business call. After the call, he rang me back 20 minutes later acting like he didn't remember me and insisted I sit through a 30-minute "discussion" about what the experience entails. Yet every time I said I was ready to hear it, he wouldn't stop with his condescending and abusive remarks. At that point, I realized booking with them wasn't worth the frustration. Based on other reviews, this is clearly a pattern, very odd, avoid at all costs!!

This is an experience you won't soon forget, and one that anybody can do! What are you waiting for? Booking our reservations was painless. I made a phone call and spoke with Patty, who gave me a few options of times for our ride. We had a group of three-two adults and a teenager. (On the day of the ride, we we met another group of three that joined us.) She gave me instructions on where to go on the day of our ride, and sent them again via text with GPS coordinates so we could easily meet our guide. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. He was friendly, took some time up front to give us a quick orientation and then asked each of us about our horse riding experience so he could match us up with an appropriate horse. He was patient with us, as some of us had very little experience. The trail itself was not all the way flat, but not so challenging that a novice rider would struggle. There are a few areas where we went up hill and then a few where we went down. Mike advised us on proper posture to make it easier on the horse as we navigated some of that hilly terrain. At one point, he recognized that the teen in the group was getting a little frustrated with his horse. He gave him some instruction and then engaged him in conversation about music-something they had in common. I appreciated that Mike was able to include everyone in the group in some way. He's a good dude. After the ride, we were given some carrots to feed our horses. I loved that part! I think the horses appreciated it too. This may not be an activity that we will do every time we visit St. George, but it will definitely be on that we remember forever and bring along some friends to show them the beauty of Snow Canyon from a different perspective.

Riding along the backside of the Zion mountains…read moreprovides incredible views, and that part of the experience was something I genuinely appreciated. That said, a few things took away from what could have been a great experience. The horse I was assigned, Dash, had a very nervous temperament throughout the ride. She would frequently get startled and suddenly run forward, which made the ride feel unpredictable and unsafe at times. At one point she jolted so abruptly that I was almost bucked off, which ended up causing a pinched nerve that I'm still dealing with. Because of Dash's temperament I also couldn't ride near my partner, so we spent most of the ride separated. As first-time visitors to the area, I was also hoping to hear some history or information about the landscape we were riding through. Instead, there was very little guidance or storytelling during the ride. If it weren't for the light conversation from Wendell, the wrangler riding toward the back with me, the ride would have been largely silent. Another issue came at the very end of the experience. During the ride, the front wrangler offered to extend our original one-hour ride. No one in our group had asked for an extension -- it was presented to us as an option while we were already out on the trail. After we had finished the ride, gotten off our saddles, and were preparing to leave, we were then informed that the extension came with an additional $140 charge on top of the $224 we had already paid to book the ride. That cost had never been disclosed when the extension was offered. Had we known there would be an additional charge, we absolutely would have declined. Learning about it only after the ride was finished made the situation feel misleading and left us feeling taken advantage of. I don't want to disregard the beauty of the scenery or the time spent on the trail, but between the unsafe temperament of Dash, the lack of information shared during the ride, and the undisclosed charge for an extension that had been offered without mentioning the cost, it significantly impacted the experience. For those reasons, I feel a three-star review is fair. Hopefully this helps future guests make a more informed decision when booking.
