Searching for places to take the kiddos and came across this small gem. Don't let the small place…read moreand very descent cost out of nowhere fool you. It may seem small as i would rather call it small yet full of surprises. We didn't expect much from the limited pics we saw online and very little reviews here. Being only $4/pp, we thought we would finish going around the place in 15min. The kids had so much fun we were here for way over an hour! We have been to many museums throughout the years and I would put this as one of my favorite within the small community for many reasons. $4/pp is very reasonable for what this place has to offer. Kids 7 and under are free, extra yay! They have many interactive learning activities for kids plus a self guided tour at each section/station. Due to it being the holidays they made a scavenger hunt using the 12 days of Christmas song such as "can you find 5 golden rings?" Pretty cool. What is extra interactive for kids is the frontier home or school house outside the museum give picturee opportunities and can actually touch some of them antiques (WITH CARE please people). By actually giving visitors and the kids the chance to explore and actually touch some of the antiques, means alot, so please respect it so many more people can enjoy it by preserving them well. Im grateful others did, so we could. They're mini little gift shop at the entrance has cool things also. Couldn't help myself but to buy a few things and even those are very reasonably priced! Lady at front was also super nice and informative, Thank you! Definitely worth stopping by!! They were open on Christmas Eve!!

Frontier Homestead State Park and Museum, Cedar City, UT, Sept, 2026. This is a state of Utah park…read moreand museum that highlights the story of development in Iron County when, in the 1850s, Brigham Young sent Mormon missionaries to Cedar City to mine and process iron. The museum has exhibits both inside and out. There are historical structures (school house, pioneer cabin, blast furless, sawmill) and an extensive collection of historic artifacts and equipment (horse-drawn wagons, plows, reapers, and more). At times, there are special events and hands on activities. There's also a Visitors Center, restrooms, and drinking water. Admission is $4, including tax. My sense is that most visitors will find something to catch their interest. For me, it was the Jones Sheep Shearing Shed; my husband enjoyed seeing (and entering) the small jailhouse and, separately, panning for gold. That said, unlike many others on Yelp and other review sites who loved the museum, I was underwhelmed; I was having trouble putting the seemingly random items of the museum into the context of what was happening in the 1850s. However, to be fair, I also didn't listen to the audio that was available, nor did I read all of the museum's explanatory signs.
