There aren't many places in the Vicenza area for a good 'ole burger, but this is one of them. I've had several different burgers here and tonight I tried the Bacon burger and asked for it bun-less. Their buns are fabulous, but I was avoiding the carbs and they were happy to accommodate. They have a bunch of beer options and I haven't had a bad one yet. My husband had a super baladin beer and it was delicious. I kept trying to steel sips from his mug. They also have different options for the seasoning on their potato wedges like Parmesan and sea salt. I will be back for sure. The pub atmosphere is great and the service is friendly.

Despite having been to Pizza Lab at least once a week for the last couple of months, I've been slow…read moreto leave a review, mostly because I struggle to find the words to describe just how amazing this place is! I'm finally ready to give it a try, but know that the only real way to understand the magic of Il Maestro is to come visit me and we'll go here for dinner so you can experience it yourself. The beer selection is great! They always have something that hits the spot for both me and my husband. I usually get a dunkleweisen and hubby goes with whatever IPA they have on draught, usually from CRAK, his favorite Italian brewery in Padua. They also have prosecco if all else fails. If you want an antipasto, they have a small selection of fried items -- jalapeños, fries, potato wedges, etc. I know it sounds pretty pedestrian, but there's just something about fried food in Italy... We usually go with the patates con buccia. No matter what you decide for antipasti, be sure to save room for the main show... the pizza! Oh, the pizza!! This is where my words start to fail me and I find myself incapable of forming complete sentences. So, let's just try this list form -- gooey, piping hot, wood fired, soft, pillowy, cheesy, heaven. That about covers it, I think. Their ingredients are top notch and so unique. Favorites include the cinghiale salami, black pig sausage, yellow tomato sauce and smoked burrata. Some pizzas even have "bordo ripeno," AKA stuffed crust, people! But let's be honest, you can't really go wrong with anything they're offering up here.

My husband and I are beer lovers. Naturally, when we moved to Italy from Charlotte a few months…read moreago, we were really worried about leaving behind all the wonderful craft breweries in North Carolina. So, you can only imagine our pure joy when we discovered Birrone just a few minutes from our new home in Caldogno! They have an extensive offering (8+ beers on draught and even more in the bottle) with something for everyone. I.E. they had an IPA for my hop-head husband and every other style for me. My favorite was the wheat beer, Cibus. Described as "pane liquido" (liquid bread) on the bottle, it was one of the best beers I've had in a while! And, I'm not just saying that because it's hard to find good beer in Italy. Their Cibus could easily hold its own in the US beer scene. The tap room doubles as a restaurant with lots of tasty Italian versions of bar food. On our first visit, we ordered the Tagliere Misto XL, a cutting board that came heaped with piles of porchetta, prosciutto, speck and cheese. Way too much food for 2-people but it was only €10 so we couldn't resist!

The tagliere board, meat board, is an incredible value and includes three killer meats for about 10€, unbeatable. The fries are solid as well. They have hoppy beer selections which is not too common in the area. I had a double India Pale Lager and another single IPL. They were both very heavy on the bready malt and had strong hop bitterness with a little boozyness as well. Solid, extra points for willingness to make a high hop beer. Their star was the wheat beer my wife had. It was incredible and since we are only a couple hours from Germany, not a huge surprise their wheat beer was really good. I like this place, it is unique for this area and reminds me of a place you would find in North Carolina.
