I like the bar area in Soul Kitchen Cafe better than their dining area. They have the dining area from the entrance to the middle of the restaurant. The bar area is inside at the end. I feel more private and better enjoyed in the bar with friends. Soul Kitchen Cafe is attached to the lobby of Hotel Plaza. We were here so many times for drinks and dinners. The prices are pretty reasonable for both the food and beverages. The quality of their Italian dishes is not bad. Nothing stands out, but all the pasta dishes we ordered taste okay! The prices of drinks are very reasonable. We have enjoyed our evening here almost every night when visiting Venice. The services were good most of the time except one time it took a very long time for our drinks because the waitress started her break after taking our orders. We talked to another waitress and got our drinks in a few minutes. The other waitress came back 20 minutes later with the drinks we ordered and found out we got our drinks already. She gets upset! I don't know if this is the Italian way or not. But it is not acceptable in the United States.

Hands down this was the best food I've had in Venice! The steak was marinated and seasoned perfectly. The staff were really nice. The house wine was $4.50 which was pricier than others but still pretty good. Also the location to the train was fantastic!

Well I always say TRUST Yelp and although I realize that sometimes it's not right on, but A microwave in the kitchen is not FRESH FOOD!

Ok even though Yelp isn't always right with Bad posts I have to say this is not good. America should not have better Italian food!! I've never seen a microwave being used in a high quality restaurant I mean what needs to be heated up if it's Fresh? Go across the street if you are stuck in the area. Just so you know, spent $23 Euros and ended up needing a McDonalds cheeseburger to make my taste buds get right. That's BAD! I mean think about it; Soul Kitchen? The name alone should tell you to run. But go ahead Ciao!!

ordered grilled vege, black truffle bacon carbonara pasta, bonet, house red. about 31 euro. grilled vege was salty but acceptable , assorted vege was onion, zucchini, egglant, carrot, italian red cabbage. my very first carbonara pasta stick together so bad, that i cut it out by knife, not bother to detangle the pasta. average truffle (not with the superb aroma, but you get what you pay). bonet was good chocolate mouse + cake base + sweet biscuit crust on top. (i personally like chocolate) average good. average american sweetness. ** generally, it feel like eating american meal using Italian ingredients.

The wine is only €3.50 per glass so we opted for a Cabernet and Refosco. I loved the crostatina which is apples and apricot jam in a crusty pastry for €1.50. I heard mixed reviews on the food from other hotel guests so we decided to just get wine and dessert. I also heard the cheesecake is delicious here.

Delicious Food, Great Service, what more can you ask for? Accomodating? Yes! The waiter was excellent, i asked for gluten free options and I was able to choose from any of the pasta options! I had the homemade white wine sauce with tomato and basil the first night, and it was to die for. The second night I had the Alfredo, which was nothing like American Alfredo. Absolutely Amazing!! Thank you to the staff for making some memorable dishes during my stay!

I can't say that going to a place called Soul Kitchen while in Italy was at the top of my list. However when we arrived to the Mestre train station about an hour and a half before our train was scheduled to leave, it was literally across the street and served wine, so we stopped in to have a bottle until our train arrived. So the place is big. But weirdly they forced us to sit at a dirty table instead of some of the nicer tables. And the wine list isn't amazing, but they did have a great Amarone that we kind of fell in love with. Plus they served the wine with a giant bowl of chips/crisps. (I'm totally going to invent a new hybrid word for both Americans and Brits for this: chrisps.) The service was a bit crap, as it was really difficult to get anyone's attention to get our bill at the end, and we were really close to missing our train (irony), but since it was directly across the street, we made it just in time. If I'm ever waiting for a train at Mestre again, this is likely to be a place to come for some wine, as the rest of the area didn't seem like there was a whole lot on offer.

Just passing through Venice and was instructed to head over to Soul Food Cafè. It started off a little rocky bc we weren't sure to seat ourselves or be waited on, but once that was figured out....food arrived shortly thereafter. The spaghetti was delicious....not only bc was I hungry, but bc it was actually good. I wasn't expecting any less. Had I not been delirious from fatigue, more food would've been order.

In my limited experience in Mestre, one of the few spots with good food & great atmosphere. It's right by the train station so you can grab lunch/coffee while waiting for your train to Venice proper. Not an expansive food menu, but everything they make is delicious. I tried the prosciutto+mozzarella appetizer and really liked it. Their pasta (especially spaghetti al pomodoro+mozzarella) looked delicious.

    The beef steak.

The location is good, just right in front of the Mestre station. It's very convenient for travelers. But the food and service was poor. I ordered the beef steak, described "tender" in menu but in fact it was very very hard like a stone. And I don't know why I ordered "medium" steak but they gave me like "super well done". So it was terrible. They prepared vintage and olive oil for us but didn't give us a plate to enjoy the bread and dressing together, that was so weird. Coffee was good. If I just wanna take a rest and have some coffee I'll come here again. Here's some of my suggestion: Don't come here if you want to get satisfy. But just have a cup coffee, it'll be fine.

Soul Kitchen was recommended to us by our hotel staff. We wanted authentic Italy cuisine. Upon arriving we were asked if we had a reservation. We were seated quickly and given menus. The menu had a picture of each item, per page, and an explanation of what it was. That was helpful as an American. The bread basket consisted of rolls and small crunchy breadsticks. They were ok, maybe slightly dry for me. I ended up getting The carbonara. Others in the group got spaghetti type dish with a big mozzarella piece on top and manicotti. No one at our table loved their dish. We ate it because we paid for it but that's about it. For dessert we tried the cheesecake and the chocolate cake. Both were subpar. We sat at the table for a bit without getting a bill so we made our way to the cashier out front where we were ignored by everyone that walked by. Once we flagged down someone to help us they were very rude and even helped some Italians before us. Other than a specific waitress and waiter being polite the experience was a pass for me. I would not return, nor would I recommend to others.

Very good food, kind personnel. The place is a bit spartan, but very good to have a meal while travelling through Mestre.

The food is good and prices are reasonable, and they have free wifi. It's directly across from the Venezia-Mestre train station.

(You would've thought USA vs Italy would've attracted more local attention.) SL was a tiny place, but thankfully mostly empty; we plopped ourselves down and ordered some cold beers (pilsner for me, it being a hot afternoon). They had a decent beer list here - several standard styles from the British isles. I noted they also had some locally made brews (I didn't try them) plus Guinness (a necessity for such a place). The vibe wasn't very Irish beyond the decor and dark interior. The bartender was playing some euro pop on the sound system. Snacks were offered - mostly bread rolls, small sandwiches, and cuts off some oblong pizzas. We sampled a few of the latter to go with our beers. (They were OK.) As for the volleyball, the USA got spanked. Thankfully no celebration from the other side; most of the other patrons were either Americans or Brits. And the Italian bartender didn't seem to care. It's not clear why so many previous patrons have awarded a full 5 stars for SL. (Vacation glee?) For us it met a basic need but was priced high for tourists. I'll give them three stars, plus one extra for offering the game.

Played nothing but American music while we were here. Mostly 90s grunge and classic rock. Right up my alley! They have a full bar and can make pretty much anything you want. The taps are flowing with authentic Italian beers! Overall, I had fun and would recommend it.
