If you are visiting Venice and the northeast Mestre area, I would recommend it based solely on the authenticity factor, something missing from many of the taverns in Venice proper. The pub has a American theme throughout while respecting traditional Italian bar culture. Photos of the Blues Brothers, various bands, and sports (NHL) abound while classic American and British rock blast over the stereo. The barkeep is Claudio, who makes sure to take care of all of his patrons. The night started with the three of us drinking spritz, made of prosecco and campari. From there we graduated to a variety of wines and eventually beer. Throughout our Saturday evening, the staff tended to us with snacks and cichetti, all gratis. The wines are top of their class and all extremely affordable. The craft beer selection on tap is small (6ish), but superb, in fact the witbier was one of the best I've tasted, anywhere. Based on the service alone I can highly recommend Le Due Ochette. Make a good impression on Claudio and he might send you home with a bottle of wine. Add in the selection and neighborhood atmosphere, and the decision to spend your evening here is a no-brainer.

SL was a tiny place, but thankfully mostly empty; we plopped ourselves down and ordered some cold beers (pilsner for me, it being a hot afternoon). They had a decent beer list here - several standard styles from the British isles. I noted they also had some locally made brews (I didn't try them) plus Guinness (a necessity for such a place). The vibe wasn't very Irish beyond the decor and dark interior. The bartender was playing some euro pop on the sound system. Snacks were offered - mostly bread rolls, small sandwiches, and cuts off some oblong pizzas. We sampled a few of the latter to go with our beers. (They were OK.) As for the volleyball, the USA got spanked. Thankfully no celebration from the other side; most of the other patrons were either Americans or Brits. And the Italian bartender didn't seem to care. Played nothing but American music while we were here. Mostly 90s grunge and classic rock. Right up my alley! They have a full bar and can make pretty much anything you want. Good variety of beers, ciders and mixed drinks and all are decently priced. The crowd is a mixed bag of tourists, college students and some locals but the vibe is relaxed and although it can get loud and a little tight inside, it's a good time.
