All'Arco is for us still the gold standard when it comes to Cicchetti. But there are some also very…read moreexcellent Cicchetti places in town. And this is definitely one of them! Plenty of table outside to watch the world go by - mostly pretty full, but there are always some guests coming and going. A quick wait does the trick. Got a good table and ordered our Cicchetti inside. They do table service here, so you won't carry your Cicchetti out on your own. A nice little service, not even coperto is charged. Despite being a very busy place, the waiting staff does a great job. Got some cicchetti with sardines, radicchio, bacalau/cream, bacalau with sour onions and raisins and also shrimp with sour onions and raisins. The latter two sound adventerous, but were excellent. A fantastic combination of flavors. Sweet and sour. All cicchetti were really tasty, nice combinations, very creative. Ingredients of high quality. The white wine went well with them. Had also some meatballs with. Decent, but not great. But the cicchetti definitely were. Prices are fair as well. Surely must-visit if you're into cicchetti (and wine). Nice place, nice setting. Surely we'll be back.

If there is a wait for a table stick with it as the head waiter politely moves folks along as they finish. You walk through the small restaurant in a very specific direction to order your snacks from a glass case. The waiter then delivers to your table. Each one we had was incredible with my two favorites being the mortadella sprinkled with crushed pistachios and tuna with black olives. Zemei I guess means twins so the inside is plastered with adorable pictures of twins. The Aperol spritzes and house red were fabulous. Prices beyond fair - a real deal for the experience.

The pumpkin flan was a true experience of sweet and savoriness. I couldn't stop eating the ratatouille; it was such a delicious treat. I was able to have a conversation with the chef after our meal, and she encouraged my excitement to experiment and try my hand at some of these dishes at home. I wish I lived in Venice, so I could have La Zucca regularly. They only had one reservation spot for the days we were in Venice, so I definitely recommend making reservations ahead of time.

The seating made it completely worth it, though--we were seated right by the canal water and had a gorgeous view throughout our meal! The servers were very pleasant, though navigating the menu takes a little extra effort. The menu is in Italian and changes regularly. While they do provide a translation menu, I ended up using my phone to translate most of it myself. For dietary restrictions, they do mark allergy items, though there aren't very many gluten-free options available. To drink, I ordered an Aperol Spritz. For food, I had the carrot soup and a plate of two sides: ratatouille and zucchini. The soup and the zucchini were both delicious! One of my friends ordered the linguine, but unfortunately found it to be overly salty. Overall, it's a lovely spot for a scenic lunch by the water, especially if you enjoy a lively atmosphere and don't mind navigating a changing Italian menu.
