Great food, great drinks. They have an English menu, everything is pretty reasonably priced. Worth stopping here for lunch for sure.

My husband and I are beer lovers. Naturally, when we moved to Italy from Charlotte a few months…read moreago, we were really worried about leaving behind all the wonderful craft breweries in North Carolina. So, you can only imagine our pure joy when we discovered Birrone just a few minutes from our new home in Caldogno! They have an extensive offering (8+ beers on draught and even more in the bottle) with something for everyone. I.E. they had an IPA for my hop-head husband and every other style for me. My favorite was the wheat beer, Cibus. Described as "pane liquido" (liquid bread) on the bottle, it was one of the best beers I've had in a while! And, I'm not just saying that because it's hard to find good beer in Italy. Their Cibus could easily hold its own in the US beer scene. The tap room doubles as a restaurant with lots of tasty Italian versions of bar food. On our first visit, we ordered the Tagliere Misto XL, a cutting board that came heaped with piles of porchetta, prosciutto, speck and cheese. Way too much food for 2-people but it was only €10 so we couldn't resist!

What an awesome find! It doesn't hurt that it is 10 minutes from my wife and I in caldogno. The tagliere board, meat board, is an incredible value and includes three killer meats for about 10€, unbeatable. The fries are solid as well. They have hoppy beer selections which is not too common in the area. I had a double India Pale Lager and another single IPL. They were both very heavy on the bready malt and had strong hop bitterness with a little boozyness as well. Solid, extra points for willingness to make a high hop beer. Their star was the wheat beer my wife had. It was incredible and since we are only a couple hours from Germany, not a huge surprise their wheat beer was really good. I like this place, it is unique for this area and reminds me of a place you would find in North Carolina.

We were seated at an outdoor table for two. The menu has plenty of salads, about ten pizzas, and pastas. We wanted a pizza so we asked the waiter how many slices were in the pizza. He said the pizza was for one person only. Although surprised, we took him at his word and I ordered a pizza and my husband ordered an antipasto plate. We also heard him tell this to other patrons nearby. When the pizzas arrived we all learned each pizza had six slices in it. We had the diavolo pizza. It was decent but not great. The antipasto plate had a lot of meat on it, two small olives, and some dry lettuce. There was no dressing on it and none was offered. Again, it was decent but not great. I am sharing these details because I want others to know what to expect.

Overall, both were decent though an exceptional. Service was reasonable with the waiter calling my wife "lady." I don't think he meant it offensively, it probably just comes across a bit awkward in translation (ok lady, what can I get you lady, etc.?). Overall, you're not paying for the pizza and salad, you're paying for the opportunity to sit outside and people watch in a wonderful neighborhood of Venice. Pricing including drinks was 45 Euro, which is a reasonable value.
