Hot rock salmon!! Rock was sizzling

Unique nautical theme place. Very helpful to have reservation. Had the hot rock salmon, was very good. Other dish was linguine, which they added scallops in it as requested! Will be returning in the near future.

Stripey Trumpeter fillet with sides

This restaurant has the best fish I have ever eaten. It is called Stripey Trumpeter, from the waters of Hobart area. I have eaten fish in Istanbul, Vancouver, Osaka, and several other top places, this special fish was clearly the best. Flakey, delicious, a real savory flavor. It did come with something on the plate, but I forget what. All I can remember is that amazing taste. The fillet was generously sized too. The Tasmanian oysters were also top notch. Superior to anything from North America, and competitive with Taiwanese oysters. The Tasmanian salmon was also superior. On the less that perfect side was the swordfish. It was substantially over cooked, and quite dry. In terms of decor, the nautical theme is fun, but the overhead lights are too strong on the table. Need to be dimmed slightly. The service a little slow to start but changed to very good after we ordered. Maybe they were just giving us time to choose something. The drinks were fine. Overall, we specifically flew to Hobart to eat at the Drunken Admiral based on its reputation, and the fabulous Stripey Trumpeter filet there make the visit amazing and very memorable. The Fish Market Tasting platter

We dined at the Drunken Admiral last night and what a restaurant. The heavily ship themed restaurant was a hit with our 5 yr old and all the other kids and adults that were there. The booths and nooks were nice and private also. The staff were very helpful and friendly and helped with any questions we had. I had the fish of the day, hubby had the fish market tasting platter and my son had option 3 which had fish, calamari, prawns crumbed prawn chips and salad. Safe to say we were all very happy with our meals and fell into a food coma after forcing it all down as it was so good! We finished off with dessert. Didn't need it but it was still delish. Definitely recommend this place. Really good, fresh, tasty food.

Really nice and warm nautical themed restaurant. It's a little tacky but I really liked it. Good, fresh seafood and very warm staff. They even sell a small book about ghost stories of the building its in. Sent chills up my spine! The the fish of the day is always changing based on what has come in that day.

Love how they make this a little exciting! Cook your own fish on a sizzling hot plate.

Its not often where I can really enjoy a good quality meal + good service at a restaurant in Hobart but both my partner and I can really say that we do here! It's not only the beautiful seafood but the service and warming atmosphere. Last night the both of us got to enjoy a beautiful meal and without joke, we made a bet on how long the food would take to come out. My partner saying less than 10 minutes and I being in doubt that surely it would take a little longer but amazingly and not really that surprised (as we've come here before ) it only took 7 minutes. 7 minutes for 2 main meals!! Unbelievable! I highly recommend this place though it is quite pricey ranging between $35-40 for a main. So if you do come here, be prepared to pay good money for good food. I give this restaurant between a 4- 4.5

This place is great! Service is great! Kitchy decor and great theme. Kids meals were decent (calamari and chips and seafood basket and chips with Icecream which was well presented with praline/Chocolate freckle slice and chocolate fudge sauce.) We shared the seafood tasting platter which had some of the freshest seafood tasted. Oysters, muscles, marinated octopus, smoked trouted, smoked salmon and prawns. Tried the fried olives as a side. Was OK but wouldn't order again. Also had the local cherry apple cider and a Berry Mojito. Well made. Total was $126. Would come again.

Lots of seafood options to pick from but there was one sirloin option for meat eaters and one vegetarian pasta. Afternoon oyster orgy (aka happy hour) was offered everyday from 3-5pm and the oysters were a great deal at half price. The six we ordered were large and fresh and came with a red wine mignonette. Other places charged extra for anything other than plain lemon wedges with their oysters. The fish of the day was a blue eye fillet which was a thick white fillet and with a very nice creamy sauce. The broccolini was perfectly cooked and one of the best in a long time. Potatoes rounded out the plate and were a good complement. Seafood linguine was served with a generous amount of shrimp, calamari, fish and scallops. Pasta was al dente. For dessert we finished off with their sticky toffee cake with a scoop of caramel ice cream. It brought back memories of our first one last year and was a satisfying end to dinner. Great service from the various staff members throughout our dinner. Would come back on a future stop in Hobart.

We are in Hobart and wanted a nice place to eat, with great atmosphere, and good seafood. A friend…read morehad recommended Mures Upper Deck so we went... We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - A tour guy had told us that Mures Upoer Deck would be the same food as on the lower level, just pricier, but I don't think that is true. The menu was very broad, there's great cocktails, and a comprehensive wine list, and food that you can't get in the more fast food-like atmosphere down below. - We had a reservation and when we arrived, the place was practically empty. They seated us at a table by the window; the views were beautiful. - We decided to order cocktails off their cocktail menu, although some of the cocktails were supposed to be smoked and the server said their smoker wasn't working. We got them anyway and they were very nice. - We decided to start with a few oysters and the octopus salad. Both were really tasty. For our main course, my wife and I split the full flathead fish, which seemed to be a special that day. When it came out, we asked our server how to cut it, and he said he had never done it before so he didn't know himself, but that the chef cuts down the middle so that's what we did. The fish was really nicely done, and the other items on the plate added to it all very well. - Service was pretty good, but as I've noted, our server didn't seem to be very experienced, coming by our table way too much to check in. I think at some point he got the message. I wanted to just eat my dinner. Bottom line: We had a great experience at Mures Upper Deck and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little fancier evening.
