Absolutely fantastic! Went there for dinner for my birthday and the dishes were local fare with an exquisite splash of panache.

Lots of seafood options to pick from but there was one sirloin option for meat eaters and one vegetarian pasta. Afternoon oyster orgy (aka happy hour) was offered everyday from 3-5pm and the oysters were a great deal at half price. The six we ordered were large and fresh and came with a red wine mignonette. Other places charged extra for anything other than plain lemon wedges with their oysters. The fish of the day was a blue eye fillet which was a thick white fillet and with a very nice creamy sauce. The broccolini was perfectly cooked and one of the best in a long time. Potatoes rounded out the plate and were a good complement. Seafood linguine was served with a generous amount of shrimp, calamari, fish and scallops. Pasta was al dente. For dessert we finished off with their sticky toffee cake with a scoop of caramel ice cream. It brought back memories of our first one last year and was a satisfying end to dinner. Great service from the various staff members throughout our dinner. Would come back on a future stop in Hobart.

We are in Hobart and wanted a nice place to eat, with great atmosphere, and good seafood. A friend…read morehad recommended Mures Upper Deck so we went... We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - A tour guy had told us that Mures Upoer Deck would be the same food as on the lower level, just pricier, but I don't think that is true. The menu was very broad, there's great cocktails, and a comprehensive wine list, and food that you can't get in the more fast food-like atmosphere down below. - We had a reservation and when we arrived, the place was practically empty. They seated us at a table by the window; the views were beautiful. - We decided to order cocktails off their cocktail menu, although some of the cocktails were supposed to be smoked and the server said their smoker wasn't working. We got them anyway and they were very nice. - We decided to start with a few oysters and the octopus salad. Both were really tasty. For our main course, my wife and I split the full flathead fish, which seemed to be a special that day. When it came out, we asked our server how to cut it, and he said he had never done it before so he didn't know himself, but that the chef cuts down the middle so that's what we did. The fish was really nicely done, and the other items on the plate added to it all very well. - Service was pretty good, but as I've noted, our server didn't seem to be very experienced, coming by our table way too much to check in. I think at some point he got the message. I wanted to just eat my dinner. Bottom line: We had a great experience at Mures Upper Deck and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little fancier evening.

The seafood chowder was an absolute dream--rich, creamy, and brimming with perfectly cooked seafood. Each spoonful was happiness and joy. We were so glad to have stumbled upon this spot. I want Roaring Grill to blow me away, I really do. I want them to exceed expectations and I've…read moregiven them two shots at this before writing, as I prefer to give a second opportunity to a poor to middling first experience before I commit words to a review, but round two was last night and was still just OK. My first RG experience was with a girlfriend who is a big fan. We were there on a Saturday night, so it was very busy and the place was booked out. We'd called up only a day or so early and had a late booking (for 8pm), but called that night to say "hey guys, if you have any earlier cancellations, feel free to give us a call because we're literally around the corner". Perhaps this was a bit of an alien notion to them because they came back defensively regarding being busy and reserved tables and so on... it's ok guys. It's ok. Having said that, they then called back fifteen minutes later to say we could come in an hour earlier. Ok... good. Onto the food. She got an eye fillet which was on the rare side of medium. I got a scotch which was on the medium side of medium rare. Different cuts, different cooking times, sure. A lot of steaks at a lot of places come out less than perfect. But at a steak restaurant, you can't help but hope they'll have it pretty bang on. Never mind, the steak was still tasty (and the champ potato mash was crazy good). The apple fritters for dessert blew our minds. An evened-out OK experience. My second RG experience was just last night: a Monday night, with a visiting friend from interstate. Monday night aka "hospo weekend" can be tough to find somewhere great to eat, but we were both feeling it and called forward just to make sure they could fit us in. They definitely could--there were maybe two other parties when we arrived, and by 8pm we were the lonely last diners. We were seated in the back dining area (I think it may have been the exact same table I was at last time) and I'll say it was to our misfortune, because being right near the open kitchen we could hear the staff discussing closing up, who'd go home first, hear them cleaning grills etc. In their business to do this they weren't too bothered with topping up our water glasses or even checking if we wanted anything else to drink. For the food: her pork ribs were falling off the bone--they looked delicious. My sliders were tasty, but messy--the bottoms of both buns disintegrated as I picked them up. The chips were top notch. We got apple fritters to share and the apple centres were undercooked and disappointing compared to the first time I'd tried them. Actually, having written all this out, I'm dropping my original three stars to two. I can't say it was OK--I've clearly been disappointed. Highs and lows to be had here! I'm sure being seated in the front dining room or upstairs would have made last night's atmosphere better. Having said all that, I'd like to try another steak here one day, and hopefully add another star or two.

The service is brilliant, the menu brimming with all things grillable steak, fish, ribs et.,al., et.,al., et.,al., and the food preparation second to none. This is my third visit in two months and I'm ready to go again as soon as possible. On all my visits I have been boring because I always but always view the menu In totality and then revert to medium rare scotch fillet - large size 400+ grams- which is cooked perfectly AND the best in Australasia. They've thought of everything here and if you are with someone who is of, and prefers meat of, a more petite size then that is no problem ......or maybe it sometimes ..... my regular companion loves the honey ribs but the size is always far too large for her ...I successfully told her this on three occasions and have been able to persuade her to give me significant samples of her meal ....whilst fully eating my own of course. Highly recommend this place .....but book before you go.....the place is understandably very busy on most nights.
