serving beer and wine plus food all day

Blue Eye Seafood is located in Hobart, Tazmania Australia serving up some of the finest seafood off the coast of mainland Australia. The restarant is located downtown off the harbor adjacent to the University. We came in during a weekday for lunch and it was fairly crowded looking for some fresh Australian Oysters! We heard from a taxi driver that this place does oysters right so we decided to give it a try! We were greated by the hostess and seated promptly. For drinks we ordered all draft Aussie beers and wow they were so smooth and crisp but yet satidying. For our dishes we ordered fresh raw oysters as well as baked oysters with a nice basil garlic butter on top. Both dishes came out fairly quick and they were everything i could dream of when slurping the raw oysters. They were very sweet and succulent while the fresh lemon wedge and hot sauce did the job by complementing them perfectly. We also ordered a fish a chip dish which was quite satisfying. The fish was flakey and deep fried golden to perfection. The chips were steak cut and had just the perfect amount of lt salt to it. Our other appetizer was sashimi and wow this dish was great! The fish melted in my mouth and had the perfect snap back when eating it. I added just the right amount of soy sauce with a tad hint of wasabi and the dish was very satisfying. Blue Eye Seafood is a great place to dine in and have some local seafood from the oceans from the land down under! They have happy hour specials serving up great dishes and drinks at a affordable price. The views and location were perfect as long as all the workers who provided second to none customer service. Cheers Mate!

I've been coming to this restaurant for the last few years and have never been disappointed! The service and staff is always exceptional and accommodating and the food is fresh and delicious. Always glad to be waited on by Juppe who looks after us with a high level of professional enthusiasm. Posting pictures from some of our many visits for you to see the high-quality that is served. Highest recommendation for Blue Eye.

I have just died and gone to heaven... most amazing sashimi and icecream that i have had in a long time! And the blue eye is really really good (seasonal dish). Ok, so this may not be the cheapest place to have seafood in Hobart (although dinner for two with bread, wine, 2 starters, shared main and shared dessert was only $145), but the service is excellent, and the quality amazing. We got a last minute booking, on a Saturday evening. Service was excellent, our waitress recommended the wine and was very friendly and attentive. We had a great experience!

I forgot to take pics of the food, but the (ladies) bathroom is papered with old local newspapers. Nice touch for a fish shop.

My husband and I have this thing called The Quiet Finger*, reserved for food that is so good that there's no talking to distract from it, just eating. Hence the "shhh" esque finger symbol. Blue Eye scored The Quiet Finger from us tonight. After being on the road all day, with no proper meals, and our first night in Hobart we were keen for some great seafood and that's just what we got. Chowder and light fluffy Fish Cakes to start with, then a mix on the standard seafood platter due to my GF dietary requirements, inability to choose, and a very helpful waiter. Our special platter included generous pieces of trevally, salmon and boar fish, jewel-like scallops, mussels, paella, seafood skewers, complemented with light salad, broccollini, and a good amount of really good chips. Not so many chips that they take over, but I do wish I had a couple of chips less so I could eat more fish. A great relaxed yet special vibe, Blue Eye gets two Quiet Fingers. *Also known as The Duck Finger, as duck dishes often inspire The Quiet Finger, and it's funny cause ducks don't have fingers.

If you are looking for a seafood restaurant in Hobart, look no further. Every dish we ate at Blue Eye was unbelievable. I personally am not a fan of seafood platters when served as cold or hot plates. However, when we ordered the seafood platter which was a bit pricey (around $99), each item on it was simply delicious. Trust me when I say this that it is worth every penny. Also order their cod fritters even if you don't like cod, because its tasty. And don't forget to order their Thai Fish Cakes which simply melt in your mouth. We had 2 people with us who grew up hating Fish Cakes and even they loved these. Simply put Blue Eye Seafood Restaurant is the best Seafood restaurant in Hobart.

    The restaurant.

Shockingly underrated. A local advised us to go here and we went despite poor Yelp reviews. The blue eye fish itself, char grilled, was phenomenal.

Fresh sashimi, good food, nice service. Ordered the sashimi with salmon and blue eye. They were fresh and delicious. Also had the fish pie. The pie itself was good, but the vegetables around it taste weird and didn't fit well with it. Still a nice place to have a dinner with friends or families.

Excellent views!!! Oysters were cold but served only with lemon, no cocktail sauce here! Cheese board was nice... Small but nice!!!!

Meh. Nice restaurant and food is ok for the area but very safe and not very imaginative. Blue eye fish was nice but the old lady servicing us wanted us out asap to free up the table for another service. Don't think we'll be back when there is so much more on offer around.

We are in Hobart and wanted a nice place to eat, with great atmosphere, and good seafood. A friend…read morehad recommended Mures Upper Deck so we went... We're glad we did! Here's what we noticed: - A tour guy had told us that Mures Upoer Deck would be the same food as on the lower level, just pricier, but I don't think that is true. The menu was very broad, there's great cocktails, and a comprehensive wine list, and food that you can't get in the more fast food-like atmosphere down below. - We had a reservation and when we arrived, the place was practically empty. They seated us at a table by the window; the views were beautiful. - We decided to order cocktails off their cocktail menu, although some of the cocktails were supposed to be smoked and the server said their smoker wasn't working. We got them anyway and they were very nice. - We decided to start with a few oysters and the octopus salad. Both were really tasty. For our main course, my wife and I split the full flathead fish, which seemed to be a special that day. When it came out, we asked our server how to cut it, and he said he had never done it before so he didn't know himself, but that the chef cuts down the middle so that's what we did. The fish was really nicely done, and the other items on the plate added to it all very well. - Service was pretty good, but as I've noted, our server didn't seem to be very experienced, coming by our table way too much to check in. I think at some point he got the message. I wanted to just eat my dinner. Bottom line: We had a great experience at Mures Upper Deck and would recommend it to anyone looking for a little fancier evening.

The seafood chowder was an absolute dream--rich, creamy, and brimming with perfectly cooked seafood. Each spoonful was happiness and joy. We were so glad to have stumbled upon this spot.
