When I returned the gear that I rented for my husband and I, my daughter and I took a look for stickers to add to her snowboard. The clerk, who I think was the owner, showed us a rack of stickers. One of the selections of stickers with a Confederate flag with the words "Dixie Chick". When I said, we are a long way from Dixie, he ignored me. As a black woman, with my black daughter, I am offended by this product. This is an indication that we are not welcome here, and that this is not a store that wants me to spend my money. The concern is two fold, the owner/ buyer may be ignorant, and not know the meaning of Confederate flag, or the owner/ buyer knows exactly the meaning of the Confederate flag. In either case, my money will no longer be spent in this establishment. From here on out, I'd rather spend more on rentals at the mountain resort than give them another dime. I would like to say the the customer service for ski and board rental are a 5 star. The staff who helped my family and I were respectful, and kind. If it weren't for the racist product we would happily be back. read more

Great ski + hiking shop. They stock all the basics + tons of accessories, and have friendly and knowledgable staff. Their ski tune + repair rates are very competitive and they stand by their work. The only downside is they don't have a stone grinder, so if you need to add texture to your bases you'll have to go elsewhere. read more

We bought lift tickets on line at Bretton Woods, but they did not have any rentals available for the day we were going. we ended up going to Drummond's Mountain shop and I am glad we did. it is a third of a mile from Bretton Woods and very easy to get to. when I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff. they made the rental process very easy and had top notch equipment. The experience ant Drummond's made a good day at the slopes that much better. returning the equipment was super easy. we will definitely be renting from Drummond's again when we are in the area. read more

Do not rent XC ski boots from them--go elsewhere. I skied up to Zealand Falls Hut with an AMC group, stayed overnight, broke trail out to Thoreau Falls through amazing fresh powder, stayed at the hut again and then skied out. A wonderful trip with perfect timing right after a snowstorm. The only thing that took away from my experience were my boots and bindings. The skis were ok. The Story: I called a week prior to my rental and described exactly what I would be using my rental equipment for, even specifying the types of skis. I also mentioned that I was thinking of purchasing my own equipment was hoping to use "Demo" equipment. I was told that they had just the right type of gear and it would be something that I might consider purchasing, if I liked it. When I arrived the night before my trip I found that this was not the case. The skis were the correct type, but the "boots" were a joke. Soft, flexible, vinyl, lase-up sneakers that didn't even cover my ankle. On top of this, they were so worn that they flexed at the ball of the foot, so that the ball of my foot remained in contact with the ski during my stride, instead of properly pivoting at the toe where the boot met the binding. The area had just had a snow storm and everyone, including the guys at the shop were talking about how much snow would be on the trail. Despite my repeated verbalized concerns regarding the warmth and stability of the boot, the message was: this was all they had, it would be suitable and take it or leave it. With the shop closing, no others close enough to reach before they closed and my program starting in the morning, I made the mistake of taking the boots. On the trail I had to do something I never have: use toe warmers--every time I was out in the boots. Thankfully my gaiters prevented the prodigious snow from coming into my boots. As for stability: there was none. Besides the aforementioned flex, the boots didn't stay on top of the skis, they wiggled at the binding side to side, so that my heel slipped of the ski and my ski would pronate or supinate. As for comfort, the toe box on the right boot was worn in such a way that when it flexed with every stride, the fold in the vinyl would flex into the toe box and dig into the top of my toes. With...every...stride. So I'm constantly being distracted from the beauty around me and the amazing experience I'm having by my sh%$&y (apologies: it takes a lot to make me swear) gear with the "Drummond's Mountain Shop" sticker staring up at me. When I returned the equipment after my trip and complained, they emphasized that I decided to rent it and had the option to not rent it. They also said "well you got up there and back, right?" Right, thanks a lot for the sh%$&y attitude to match your sh%$&y gear. They offered me $20 back on an $80 rental, which I took. I'm sure they're still renting out the same sh%$&y gear this weekend. Takeaway: they don't care about the quality or suitability of their rental equipment to the conditions, and the effect this has on your experience. read more

I have to admit when I walk into a ski shop near a major mountain I'm expecting high prices and no service. Exactly the opposite is true about Drummond's. I purchased some goggles and a lock for my board and found the prices to be reasonable. Even better their was service! Woohoo someone actually helped me and seemed to be knowledgeable. The person behind the counter helped me select some goggles that suited my needs and a board lock. He even tried to help me set the combination on the board lock. Reasonable prices and good service are winning combination. The next time I need gear and I'm near Bretton Woods I'll be headed back to Drummond's. read more

First impressions may be positive, but Drummonds is all about their bottom line $. I left off two pairs of Nordic skis to get bindings. I was quoted $60 or less per set of bindings with free mountings. My husband picked them up unaware of the cost agreement, only to be charged 40% more while the guy behind the counter acted as if he was giving him a "local" deal by not charging for the mountings. In the past three weeks, I have rented sets of skis for my kids, purchased equipment for myself and husband (additional discounts for the package), bought clothing on sale, found accessories we needed, and even completed a no hassle return for an item that didn't fit well. My son and I came up from NC to hike Mt Washington. When we saw the snow and ice we were so glad that Mr. Drummond insisted that we would need to buy micro spikes. Drummond's is the absolute best ski shop around. It's obviously super convenient for Bretton Woods, but I would recommend driving to Drummond's if you're at Cannon or Attitash, too. Drummonds is by far the greatest sporting goods store. They discounted the helmet we bought for skiing as a kind gesture and they discounted our ski rentals. They were very accommodating and provided us with a lot of help without being pushy. They have high end clothes for a very reasonable price. We plan to return to Drummonds at the end of the season to buy skis and poles. We highly recommend Drummonds. read more
