Some of the men stopped by our house and explained that Matthew laid everyone off .. sold the business.April rolls around and Matthew Drost texts my husband looking for payment for January and February yet we had already paid the guys he supposedly sold the business to. I've been very impressed with Drost Gardening since first hiring them in 2017. They have been my continuous service provider since then and I have actually recently hired them to service my parents home. No one is perfect, but my favorite thing about them is that when they make a mistake or there is an issue at hand, they handle it very well. This has been especially true since 2018 when the son, Matt, took over the business from his dad. It's improved notably on the "customer service" aspect of things. As far as the actual gardening, I've yet to ask for anything they couldn't do. All pricing is very reasonable and expected and I've personally had no issues. They are flexible on scheduling and have no problem when I increase or decrease my service frequency throughout the year to match the season. Had no complaints until crew member cut away half of our lemon tree without asking. Complained to Matthew who said he would talk to the man. The next week the same crew member butchered the other half of the tree before I could stop him! It's questionable whether the tree will survive. read more

If you only want your grass cut maybe this is the company for you. My son is getting married on Saturday and I asked them to make yard nice! You can see pics on how they left it. If you have weeds forget about it they just mow them. Hedges overgrown, grass everywhere, threw hose on porch, and worse 3rd time they have left gate open and let out my fur babies. If you have a dog, not the right company to hire. If you have hedges, not the right company to hire. So disappointing and with two days til the wedding I now have to sweep up porch and hire another Gardner to come and trim hedges. Thank you for adding more money and making me work harder and I still have to fix broken sprinkler. read more

Would not hire them ever again. Asked them to do some trim work for hedges. Also asked them to replace the sprinklers they broke and they blamed the long grass that they mow themselves. After that they all of a sudden couldn't speak English and they laughed to themselves and began talking crap in Spanish. They are rude and do shit work. Completely unprofessional and lazy. Today, Paul's Gardening made my side of my house, a place to be proud of. Grass would not grow in such a shaded area. He installed paver along my trees, added mulch, installed stepping stones and then put in baby tear plants. I haven't stopped smiling. I've had so many gardener's in the past. I had about given up when I called Paul for a free estimate. His prices are fair and the work is always the highest quality. Some gardener's should not call themselves professionals, Paul is a PROFESSIONAL. His crew is very friendly and do an outstanding job. I have them trim a large hedge in front and along the north side of my house plus cut the grass. They go out of their way to help me if I need assistance with any other part of my yard. I hired Paul's gardening services 1 year back. For the first few months he was helpful however, when I noticed my garden was not being maintained (weeding around plants rarely done, edges not trimmed etc) I called and that's when Paul began to tell me how much more it would cost...$350 plus for looking at sprinklers, $150 more to weed out grass, $20 per visit if I wanted the gardeners to replant anything...Finally, the last 2 months, after killing some of my fruit plants while replanting, his gardeners spend less than 10 minutes cutting graas. Terrible service, even worse communication. Better not to hire. I have someone else now who charges the same but comes 4 times and in his very first visit he did more than these guys in the past year. Very disappointed read more

Horrible service. Paul came out to give me a quote and the entire time I felt like he was rushing thru the process. I had concerns and requests about tree removal and he gave me half ass answers and made me feel as if it was such an inconvenience to have to remove them on his next visit. On his first visit he did what he had to do and left without notice or updating me. As a new customer I would have appreciated some type of feed back and/or service update. On his second visit which was unscheduled and unexpected his crew only did half the job. The concerns we shared on his first visit were entirely neglected on the second visit. I called to let him know and he was dismissive. We scheduled him for follow up and to reiterate what we wanted done and we got rained out. I called to see if he was gonna come by to at least consult but he had no intention. As a new customer I would've at least appreciated a courtesy call. Needless to say we cancelled service and are going with someone new. read more

So I hired Paul for my husbands birthday present to clean up the front and back yard and was given a quote of 180 for two days! Never once did he express to me that it would take me than two day! After the second day of his gardeners being here and just leaving after and hour and a half I call Paul and he says it's taking longer than expected they need two more days! So I assume that's still included in the original quote because when I talked to him about them returning he never mentioned additional pricing! His gardeners spent a max of 4.5 hours here in three days, granted we do have a lot of land but not 4 days worth! All I'm saying before hiring him and his crew get a final quote for the whole thing and a timeline because he will charge you more and his guys will take longer than expected!!! Very disappointed in this work and his communication! Would not recommend them to anyone! Shop around! I feel like he took advantage of a woman trying to do something nice for her husband! read more
