Do not hire them! We had them doing hardening for our two homes and at the beginning they started out alright but just a few months in, the quality of work went to such bare minimum - they literally showed up for 10 mins, cut the grass and left me an invoice for $75. My houses were left overgrowing with weeds, untrimmed plants, and even after I specifically requested them to fix it and send them photos right after their visits with the work not done, Jose always found excuses (like rains) that lasted for several months. Not honest, not hardworking, they don't care about your property, all they want is to collect easy money. Stay away!

It was old and rotting anyway, so contacted Jose and they came out quickly and had a quote for me the same day. They recommended a retaining wall to keep the neighbors lot at bay. They could do the work immediately and the quote was fair. They had the job done in about a week and it looks great.

Jose Rivera installed 250 feet of redwood panels and fence boards at our property (see pics below). Their team did a great job under some very challenging circumstances including having to remove old chainlink fence and work around hedges and removing vines. The work was completed on time and cost significantly less than other contractors in the area which we appreciated greatly. They were also flexible in modifying some areas of the fence for us to accommodate our needs. We will highly likely be seeking service from them again in the future.

My neighbor uses their Yard Maintenance crew on Thursday mornings. They abuse the gas powered leaf blower. They blow the dirt onto the Nieghbor's car and sidewalk. Plus we live on a hill so the dirt just goes downhill and falls on my property. I have spoken to the owner and their crew. They just replied, "I do not care and you do not know what you are talking about" said one of Jose Rivera's workers. I set up an appointment through Yelp for 9am. No one showed up, not did they respond to texts. When I called them at 9:50, one person answered, said some unintelligible words and then hung up on me. I called back, received no answer, but then got a call back a minute later from a different person saying they had a missed call from me. I explained I was supposed to have an appointment at nine, and they responded that they could come out now. No explanation or apology for not showing up was given. I asked how far away they were and they said 20 minutes, so I agreed to wait for them to come out. It is now 11am, they never showed up and are no longer answering the phone. Absolutely ridiculously unprofessional. read more

The plants are in the ground now and very happy. The vase I got is so pretty. They have everything you need to make a stunning garden and they can suggest landscapers if you ask. I bought a lemon tree there some time ago and it is healthy and gives lots of lemons. I can't recall if I had it delivered or I had our truck with us, but I do think they will deliver the big trees. The plants still…read moreremaining after the first couple of years have grown to enormous sizes (fire sticks) plus sprouting babies (agave attenuata) without personally watering them. I've had service to get a truck load removed after several times of removing them myself and have freely given away many to neighbors as well. As I'm getting plumbing done soon, I've learned that some of these plants should not have been planted in certain areas, such as in front of the sewer cleanout and near the water main line as the roots could reach the pipes underground. Praying to get these plants downsized to a minimal amount and a cleaner landscape soon.

BRING ON THE SUPER EL NINO!…read more Joel and Sons recently completed a much overdue project at our home. For years, our outside drains were clogged, and I found myself setting up pumps during the storms to get the pools of water away from our home. Every year, I would tell myself that I would get the drains cleared. Before the rains came this past winter, I hired a company to hydro jet the pipes. They tried to clear the drains, but because they were so clogged, their equipment failed. Again, I was setting up the pumps during the rain storm. So, I researched and found Joel and Sons. I met Joel and he examined our front/back yards. He gave an excellent and fair estimate that would fix the drainage problems. Throughought the entire project, Joel sent videos of the work being performed. He and the crew went above and beyond to make sure we wouldn't have any future issues. The second time was terrible. $200 for 20 minutes of incomplete work and a trashed garden. He lied about the price for work, discussed in weeks prior in person and by text. On the day he showed up, he said he would not do it without more money. This was to remove an existing pile of dead branches. I said don't cut the roses, and they were ruined. He actually ripped out a small rose bush and hid it in the trash. Grass cutting and branches left everywhere, debris blown not raked up. There are now sharp stems from weeds on every lawn, some 5" tall. Dangerous to step on. Photos don't lie. We now have days of work to clean up the disaster left behind. Don't hire Manuel, the first and second visits were clearly a bait and switch.
