If you are looking for a company that stands behind their reputation and product, then look no further. I had three Dropshades installed and I wasn't completely satisfied with the way it looked. They came out and agreed with me. They remade the shades and reinstalled them making the necessary adjustments. I am very pleased with them. Please give them a shot. Cole and his installation team were great. Family owned and have been around for a while. Now I know what why. Thank you! read more

We are very happy with the Dropshades which were installed in our read yard patio. The folks at Dropshades--Darren, Cole, Asigh and, our installer, Tim--are an incredible team to work with. We live in the northern end of Cathedral City which can be very windy. We wanted a sturdy product that would hold up to our ever-changing weather patterns here in the Valley. Our existing aluminum shade structure has a slanted roof. In order to accommodate Dropshades, we had our landscape contractor add a new support post & cross beam. When your first meet with a Dropshades representative for an estimate, he will evaluate if your patio structure is level enough to accommodate the shades. The shades "glide" up and down a track when they are being opened or retracted. Be aware that windy conditions above 10 MPH can affect the operation of the shades. We always check that the shades stay in the tracks as they are retracted so that the fabric does not fold in on itself. Never leave the shades down overnight or in high winds. Dropshades include a remote control as viewed in the video. I also paid for an internet hub which lets me operate the shades via a smart phone app. We never considered using any other company than Dropshades. Our contractor highly recommended them. This is not a project that you will want to "cut corners" on. Go with the best, hire Dropshades! read more

Very disappointed. Had an appointment for 3:00 today. Came home from an earlier event so I could clear the patio and move an active bird nest to accommodate the work to be done only to have them be a no show. I called the office and was told they were down by 2 men and they don't know when they will be able to help me. I was then told they have people who have been waiting for weeks for help with their shades. They could have called me in the morning and let me know they weren't going to make it and I would have rescheduled. I feel horrible for having to move the nest; I have moved it back and hopefully the mommy bird will come back soon. Very upsetting. Bad business. I have moved on to another company that has assured me they will show up and help me out. read more

I first hired this company back in 2006 to install a set of exterior drop shades at my Palm Springs condominium. I remember the installation process was easy and I could not have been happier with the quality of the shades themselves. Not one problem in almost 20 years. Fast-forward to 2025, I had moved and was looking for similar drop shades for a different home. Not remembering which company I had used in the past, I called several local companies to come out and give estimates for new exterior shades. The third company that came to the house had by far the best price, and seemed to me to be the best quality. Materials, installation, electric were all included in one bid. Easy. After being handed the written estimate, I recognized the co logo and realized this was the same company I had used almost 20 yrs prior. I was blown away to see that not only the same company, but the same owner, Darren, was still in business and was here taking measurements for my new exterior shades. After making the connection, we had a laugh and were both thrilled that I would be hiring Dropshades for a second time. The new job consisted of four electric exterior shades. I chose the exact color and darkness as I had in my previous home. They have been installed now for over two months and I could not be happier. Dropshades is a small, family run business. These are quality shades at the best prices in town. The fact that they have been in business, under the same ownership for over 20 years here in the Coachella Valley speaks volumes! Easy to work with, great office and field staff, if you're looking for quality interior or exterior shades for your home, call Darren at Dropshades. read more

The quality of my shades are amazing and the installers are amazing and very professional.

We are very satisfied with our courtyard awnings - everything went smoothly - ordering process with Cole, communication with Asigh in their PD office. Our installers were on time, friendly and knowledgeable. Darren and Cole checked after installation was finished - all good. We will definitely use Dropshades again for other project. read more

I had Dropshades of Palm Desert come out because I did have some squeezing noises. When Anthony, their wonderful, employee came out we put the shade up and down many times and there wasn't a squeaking so he didn't have to fix anything. He said he wouldn't charge put some dry lube on it for me which he did. I wasn't told there would be a $125 cost to come out. Anthony said there would be a $125 charge to come out, but he didn't charge me because he was here after seeing my friend a mile away for maybe at the most 5 minutes. They sent him back to collect the $125 from me. I did call them and complained and the women on the other line said, I hear you loud and clean, but nothing was offered back to me. They have a good product, but I was actually surprised that is all they said to me. read more

Great. Service. Very efficient. It's about a year and I believe it's one of the best project I ever completed.

I have been a very satisfied customer of Dropshades for the last five years. They are all MVP's in my book and work well with their customers. Starting with their customer service, I am fortunate to have worked with Asigh for those five years. She has handled my patio shade orders and numerous questions in a caring, professional and efficient manner. Then we have Darren and the installation team who I have also worked with the last five years. Each time I needed them, they have come out to my property and they were successful and handled my patio shade installations along with any maintenance and repairs that were needed. Darren and the installation team are friendly, knowledgeable, professional and respectful. Thank you Dropshades for making me a happy and satisfied customer! read more

I really can't recommend DropShades any more highly. The quality of their product is outstanding and their customer service is exceptional. The team that arrived to do the installation was professional, personable, polite and efficient. If you're considering shades, this is the "go to" company. read more

Darren and his team are simply the best! They arrive and walk you through the process of what would look best for your home and how to maximize your budget. They sent me a proposal and once approved, they stayed in touch with me on when the installation would begin. They installed my window coverings, and all the motorized coverings in 2 days. They were clean and most importantly, they didn't mark up my walls with dirty hands. Thank you Darren for treating my home like your own. Thank you Chris for doing such a great job leading your crew. I will definitely recommend Darren to everyone I know! read more

I reached out to Darren to get some shades installed to help increase our privacy since it felt like we were living in a fishbowl. He came out and explained what our options were including the types of shades we could have installed and the costs for each option. Throughout the process, he answered all of our questions and gave honest assessments about what he would choose for the area and why. Then he took some measurements of all the windows and was on his way. Once I decided on what I wanted, I gave Darren a call and a couple of weeks later he and Chris came by the house to install them. The installation was done in a day and by the end it was like being in a whole new room. The shades themselves look great, are easy to operate (via remote) and have provided the privacy we always wanted. I highly recommend Dropshades for their professionalism and excellent quality of work! read more

We hired Drop Shades to install their retractable screen on our back patio. If you are considering Drop Shades, My impression with this company is emphasizing sales, not service and certainly not supporting their warranty. At first we enjoyed the shade, but over time we realized the product and service was not worth the money that we paid; install was poor quality and damaging the screen itself, and that the owner fails to take any ownership of his installer's work, to the point that he is willing to literally argue with me at my house after spent $4,000 with him, and recommended him to FOUR neighbors, including at least two that I'm confident spent more money that we did. In Feb, 2021 I called DS regarding the scratched mesh. At glance it appears that dirt is trapped in the screen, but after three attempts of cleaning, to no avail, and a competitor diagnosing the issue as caused by the roll up mechanism too close to the stucco. After calling DS twice to look at it, I never received a return call. In early April, I called back. They said they would send someone out to look at them. On April 28, 2021 a representative came out and immediately stated it was dirt. I explained it was not, and that we had been attempting to remove the "dirt" to no avail. A different company rep who we hired to install retractable screen doors, and whom I requested an opinion from, stated that the mesh was scratching the stucco as it was entering/exiting the rolling mechanism at the top. The DS representative denied this, insisting it was dirt. I told him we had cleaned both sides, and the other company's observation was worth looking at; at this time, I was confident the marks were scratch marks. I told him I'd be happy to hand him soap and a brush to clean it (he declined). The representative never looked at the mechanism closely, but insisted from about 12 feet on the ground. Because he could tell we were at a standstill in our opinion and observation, he offered owner to come by and look at it, and someone would call. As of mid-May, no one called. I called and the owner was unfortunately in the hospital. Was told to call back. In mid-June I called again, and found out the owner in hospital again (I certainly wish him good health, but he certainly didn't call me when he returned to the office the first time). To me, it is unacceptable that someone else could not make a warranty decision--or at least a more detailed inspection--in his absence. I was finally able to schedule owner to come by on 7/20. Upon his visit, he insisted the marks were caused by dirt caught in the mesh. I told him that it was not, and suggested he look closer. Once he looked at the mechanism near the roofline, he admitted it was scratching, however told me that the stucco had expanded, and the fine print released them from any warranty repairs. After a lot of back and forth I told him that was not the case, and I he finally agreed it to be an installation issue. Failing to take any ownership or attempt any remedy to the point that I was yelling. He offered to do me a "favor" and "meet me in the middle". He would pay the labor charge if I paid for the parts. I responded that his "deal" was unacceptable. This was their install, his product and lack of quality. He then said he would take care of it and needed to order the part; and would call when it was in. Sept 15, DS came and adjusted the mechanism. I asked if they were planning to do anything to the screen itself that was completely scratched up (and a part of the conversation the owner was trying to avoid that I thought he had committed to). They said they were not. The screen mechanism rubbing is fixed, but the mesh is scratched and looks terrible. It's bad enough that his tech failed to take ownership of the issue at initial inspection nearly a year ago, but to argue with the customer and not fully remediate the issue is mortifying. Following initial installation, I recommended this product to friends in the neighborhood; he has had AT LEAST 4-5 neighbors hire him based on my recommendation--at least two in particular that spent more than twice as much as I did on his screen. Yet, the best I get is to prevent further damage to a screen that looks terrible and appears low quality due to the damage. Because of the lack of ownership by the company to adhere to providing quality and after-sale support/repair to what a reasonable customer would expect, I no longer recommend DropShades--and in fact, as a real estate agent, I go out of my way to recommend that my clients not using this company when the opportunity exists. read more

I was searching for a shade solution for 4 west-facing (in direct afternoon sun) windows. My search ended when I found dropshades.com 760-772-7463 Darren came out and gave us an estimate and even advised me how to re-frame and refinish the aftermarket dual-pane windows that had been installed by the prior home-owner. After I completed the job, the two-man installation crew came out and did a beautiful job installing the 4 drop-shades. We could not be happier. All 4 shades are manual (up and down with a simple hand-crank). Easy to use, simple and reliable, just what I wanted. 5 stars. Highly recommended. read more

Terrific work guys! I have found none better. Very dependable, which is difficult to say about craftsmen and contractors in the desert.... I was looking for someone to repair some power shades that were installed by a now defunct blind company. They were fixed and working in a couple hours. Because of it's size, Daren, recommended a 120 connection, instead of replacable battery. No mess. It was installed that day. Since then I've used them for awnings and blinds on several commercial buildings. Fast, clean and dependable... they come highly recommended! read more

I am so impressed with these shades!!!!! My husband is the one that called and scheduled a time for Darren to come out to give us an estimate. I really didn't want to spend a lot of money on this since we had already done so many home improvements since we moved to La Quinta a year ago. Darren patiently walked us through all of our options. He didn't try to oversell us, but paid attention to the details in what we were looking for. The end result is EXACTLY WHAT WE WANTED!!!! Rick and Peter expertly installed our shades and they are BEAUTIFUL!!!! All of our neighbors want to come over and check them out. These shades finished off our patio beautifully. I can't wait to start entertaining!!!! Thank you!!!! read more

Over a month ago I called Drop Shades and they told me the sales rep was on vacation so I hung up but then I thought I would give them another chance(hence the 4/5). A few weeks later Darren came over and was delightful. Chris the installer knew his stuff. And I am extremely thrilled with the product itself and how it gives me another room on my outdoor patio. Also it really insulates the sun especially sunrise when I want to sit out on my patio and have a cuppa coffee. The zip drive is the way to go as well because it works in windy conditions. Plus is is guaranteed for 10 years! read more

Darren was quickly able to come out to measure and give an estimate. He gave me a 7-8 week lead time which was fine. To my surprise, I got a call a few weeks later and they were able to fit me in earlier. Chris and his team came out and installed two motorized exterior shades in approximately 4 hours. Great job, great service, competitive pricing and new shades. read more

When another Palm Desert awning company continued to behave unreliably and dishonestly over our awning installation, I cancelled it and discovered Darren, owner of Drop Shades, who quickly understood our trouble and efficiently stepped in and supplied us with a gorgeous, sturdy awning with an excellent warrantee in a short time period. His installation fellows were top notch: on time, polite, skilled and quick. Then Darren showed up to evaluate their job and ensure all was as it should be. Impressive. His is a company who extends customer service and understand that how they behave is the basis of their reputation. Call them if you need shades or awnings. Better still drop in at their showroom to see your choices and meet him. Thanks very much for your reliability and quality. Colleen F., Palm Desert read more

We had three large shades with motors installed on the west side of our condo in June, 2017. Within a few weeks one of the shades stopped working. It took a number of calls before we got to tell them about the situation but ultimately it was repaired. Their office assistant had left for a different job and the owner's daughter was subbing. The shades stopped working again in August and they were repaired again. Then there was trouble again in September. We asked for their most experienced installer to come out, he did and he made a third repair. Now during the rain this past week one of the shades came down in the middle of the night and it will not go back up. They have come to look at it and they've said it needs a new motor. (At least one of the earlier repairs involved a motor, too.) They don't have a motor with them in their truck and promised to come today. Today has been postponed to next Monday. All this time we cannot see a big part of the view from our kitchen. Who knows if they will come on Monday? We have had the shades for seven months and we've needed repairs four times. My account says I am in Portland but that's not the case any more. I live in Palm Springs. read more

If I could give 0 stars, I would. I called them to measure for a solar shade the first part of May(I had purchased from them several years ago and was pleased). I called to order the next day - no call back. I waited a day and called again - still no call back. Finally called 5 times in one day - leaving messages each time. Called 1 more time to speak with Darren - he did get back to me and said he had receptionist problems and I'd have my shade in a week. 2 weeks later, I called to find out where my order was, and receptionist said owner had to call me on that - of course, no call. I'm DONE! Just happy I didn't give them a deposit. Fair warning. read more

100% recommend. My parents house had needed shades but didn't know too much about what they wanted whether it was a drop shade or awning they wanted. Darren the owner, had came out for an estimate. He was right on time and very friendly. He has explained a couple options he thought would look very nice with my parents home as well as doing the job of blocking the sun in this 120° weather!!! He had shown us pictures of previous jobs before, and had samples of different colors we could go as in fabric wise. He had told us all about the sun and wind sensor that comes with the awning and my parents had decided to go that route. We had them out here exactly two weeks later installing the awning and we absolutely love it! Very nice guys who installed wasn't Darren himself, but had his workers come out and they got the job done fast & looking good! The sun always would beat down on our furniture and now we don't have the problem of our furniture fading and keeping it cool inside the house, as well of looking very sharp. Have recommended them to plenty of neighbors as they complimented on what they looked like! read more
