We bought a new home in Palm Springs and needed window coverings for the entire house. After interviewing several companies, we brought in Mark to do measurements and give a quote. The chain in one of our roller blinds had come off the gear and we tried fixing it ourselves to no success. These things are more complicated than we expected and the gear (first photo) becomes un-usable when you pop it open. We had to take down the blinds and cover ourselves. Luckily, Mark was very quick with communication when we contacted him (we found his website) and came over at a convenient time the following day and fixed it for us. He provided us with the necessary replacement and put the chain back in place. He also mounted the blinds back up and now it's working as intended. Very happy with the service and product from Mark at Lifetime Blinds. He was very responsive on setting up initial appointment and provided very good suggestions. I got two bids, the first from Costco's local rep and the second from Mark. I found him on Yelp, thanks fellow reviewers. Then I asked my designer, Judy Garvey from Blank Canvas Homes (good review on Judy coming next), about him and she said he did great work. I was sure we were going with Costco until I met with Mark. He provided suggestions on two impact items that I would have been unhappy about if it were not for Mark's insight. One was NOT to use roller shades on rooms with French doors where people are sleeping as they don't totally block out the light, we used the honey comb type instead. And the other was to use white headers above the roller shades in the non sleeping areas so when they are pulled up they blend into the wall (which are painted white) The other shocking fact is that Lifetime Blinds price was less than the Costco rep. The difference wasn't huge, BUT according to the Costco rep there was a limited time offer for a $1500 Costco cash card. The base price was very far apart and you needed to the $1500 cash card to get close. And finally the service was outstanding, Mark and his installer Shane arrived promptly on time, provided great service. We needed a follow-up because I accidentally pulled a roller shade off the track and Mark was there at 8:30 am the next day to fix it. I called Lifetime Blinds when we were having a problem with two motorized shades and thought we would have to replace all of our shades in order to have them match. Lifetime Blinds did not install our original shades but having heard good things about them, I called Mark. When Mark came out to measure for new shades, he took one look and said, "we've got to get these working for you as they were way too expensive to replace." It took a great deal of Mark's time to work with the manufacturer to get the problem resolved. He only charged us for what the manufacturer charged him to replace parts, etc. He saved us thousands of dollars and cost himself money by not just simply agreeing to sell us new shades. (We hope our tip covered his time and energy.) I can't think of anything that says more about the integrity and fairness of a business person than how Mark handled our problem. Three years ago he installed regular roller blinds in our living room and a more high tech automated blind system in our bedroom in Palm Springs. Mark was referred to me by a representative of QMotion (automated battery powered blinds) as a QMotion authorized installer/repair to do pinch-hitting substitution provision of service and followup High level local service personnel are required as Headquarters of QMotion offensively repels end-users (you know, the people who pay their salaries and make their profits possible) to force them to talk only to representatives in the field. Frankly, that is a myopic and arrogant policy for any corporation to take, but now that I found Mark, I hopefully will never again be tempted to try to get answers from headquarters. Mark is my preferred provider BY FAR. Whatever else he may sell in the future, I'll consider buying it. (He took my order for the white wall-plate to mount the mini-controller.) Communications with Mark was fluid and he kept me informed as his schedule became clear. Mark arrived ontime within about a day after my request WITH the proper mini-remote controller to replace my defective Qmotion mini-remote control. Apparently, he keeps spare parts around on his truck. Nice! The remote originally sold to me had an electrical joint manufactured without care to make a competent connection --very poor craftsmanship at the factory. Mark had a speed-dial to a factory representative to get immediate instructions on linking the remote to the blind in question. Everything proceeded very smoothly and efficiently. Had a great experience solving broken blackout shades. Contacted Mark blindly and he referred me to his installer/repairman, Shane Dunn, directly. Shane came out within hours and replaced the broken cords on each shade. I hadn't considered that the shades could be repaired, expecting to pay for replacement shades at a cost of $650. His sample book was a mess and because we couldn't make a decision as quickly as he wanted (he was there for a half hour) because our elderly parents weren't there due to COVID so we Facetimed them in, he got very annoyed, rolling his eyes, huffing and puffing, shaking his head and then started berating us that this is his busiest time of the year and we were wasting his time. I politely asked him not to lecture us as it was inappropriate and he was very, very rude. He then slammed all his stuff back in his bag and walked out in a huff. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.
