I am very picky about my hair, especially when it comes to keeping my length, and Lizet completely understood the assignment! He…read morealways does a great job, and I've actually recommended him to other people because I trust his work. That being said, the front desk experience was disappointing again. This time it was the main girl who handles scheduling (last time she wasn't there and another staff member who helps with blow-drying was covering, and that experience was just as annoying). During my appointment -- while I literally had hair all over my face -- she walked up asking me to book my next appointment and pay. I had to tell her I couldn't even see because there was clearly hair covering my face. It was obvious. It just felt like she wasn't reading the room at all. Moments like that really disrupt the vibe of the appointment. It feels unprofessional and honestly gives me the ick. When someone interrupts the flow like that, it takes away from the experience and, in my opinion, probably affects people's tips too because it kills the mood right before checkout. Obviously, I'm gonna pay before I leave and schedule my next appointment. I feel like she doesn't read the room and comes at the most inconvenient time. It's kind of a buzz kill. I genuinely like my stylist and the work he does, but if this continues to happen, I might have to reconsider coming back.

Extremely disappointing and completely unprofessional. I've only been to this salon three times,…read moreand all three times I've had my appointment canceled on the same day, each time with the same excuse. I wait months to get an appointment, plan my schedule around it, and then end up having it canceled at the last minute. Once is understandable--things happen. But having this happen three times in a row, every single time I've booked, is unacceptable. At this point, it's not an isolated inconvenience; it's a pattern that shows a complete lack of respect for clients' time. I've given this salon multiple chances, but I will not be returning. There are plenty of other salons that can provide a more reliable and professional experience.

I had my third appointment with Michael Potter and Salon DeCota last week and I cannot say enough…read morehow happy I am to have found them. Michael is a meticulous hair stylist. The first cut he gave me was the best cut I've had in a long time, if not my best cut ever. During that appointment Michael showed me step-by-step how to best blow dry my hair. His cut and guidance has made an incredible difference in my confidence in blow drying my hair and the results when I am done. Michael has also been doing my color. He's been awesome in paying close attention to what's working and what's not and making suggestions on how to achieve the vision he sees for my hair. Apart from my happy results from my stylist Michael, I find the vibe of the salon to be a positive influence over my overall experience. Michael is an absolute joy to spend time with and the owner Evet makes me feel appreciated as a client. My hair looks and feels like it is in the best condition that it has ever been. I attribute this to a great affordable product line that Salon DeCota supports. I highly recommend!

I've been coming here since their earlier location, and the consistency has been remarkable. Coming from a European background, I've found it surprisingly difficult to find a truly reliable hair salon in the U.S. I kept my hair long for years -- partly out of caution -- until one of Cooper Alley's apprentices approached me during May Madness event in San Rafael. I took a chance, and it reset my relationship with hair salons entirely. I trust stylists again. In fact, I now tend to measure other salons by whether they carry the same product lines Cooper Alley does -- the best in the world. Rick Cooper, the founder, is an artist in the truest sense. His influence extends far beyond this salon; through his training, there are now dozens of trusted salons across Marin and the Bay Area -- a quiet but significant legacy. Ally, a co-founder, has an exceptional eye for color. Alyona, a newer co-owner originally from Odessa, Ukraine, brings clarity, conviction, and range to everything she touches. Miriam adds a refined European sensibility, and the next generation -- including Holland and Cathy -- carry the craft forward with confidence and care. Cooper Alley isn't just a salon. It's a gold standard.

Wow. I've never had a bad experience like this where I had to walk out. From the moment I sat down…read morein his chair he was complaining about how long my hair was and how thick it was even though I was only there for my roots. He kept commenting on how sweaty I was so I finally mentioned that it was warm in there and he said oh you're going to have to stay sweaty then because I'm cold. I originally made the appointment for roots and a blowout but after he was super rough at the bowl and I asked him to please be more gentle he gave me a lecture on why he couldn't be gentle while washing my hair. I thought point I just asked him to please brush my hair so I could leave and he said I knew it as if he had pegged me for some kind of Karen lol. I'm going to leave a picture of how much hair I pulled out because of how rough he was at the bowl when I got home and blow dried and brushed my own hair. No I don't know anyone except David but my roommate says she knows Tony and will be speaking to him directly. I got home and I was shaking. It was just him and I and he was mad. He quoted me $95 for this amazing experience lol. There's more but I want this to be over. This place or at least David isn't for female clients at all. I almost forgot this man had clothes on that must've been two weeks old without being washed he stunk so bad when I got home and blow dryed my hair I could still smell it on me. So yeah I may be sweaty due to hyperemesis but at least I don't stink.
