The Dreamscapes team did an excellent job building the pool and backyard we wanted! We started looking for a contractor in June of 2021. We were already working with an independent designer and just needed a contractor to build the pool. Working with an independent designer helped ensure apples-to-apples bids from multiple contractors, but caused delays during the permit process. From the time of permit approval, Dreamscapes did a phenomenal job and was our primary contact for the pool and landscape construction. Our Timeline: June 2021 - design & bids July 2021 - decision on contractor August 2021 - designer submitted drawings for permits February 2022 - permits approved, given to Dreamscapes March 2022 - Dreamscapes started construction August 2022 - Dreamscapes completed construction The Dreamscapes bid was the best value of the three contractors we had quote our design. Watching them work during the process, my guess is that Dreamscapes many years in the business has earned them a network of professionals who they rely on for certain specialty portions of the work - shotcrete and plaster in particular - as well as extensive in-house crews for tile, landscape and hardscape. This combination delivered incredible quality at a price point that beat out the other contractors by over 10%! During the project, Manny and Efrain were responsive and worked hard to keep the job on schedule. We had issues and a few delays during the project, but they demonstrated clear and effective communication the entire time. In spite of the delays (concrete, plaster, pool equipment), the project completed just 5 days behind the 5-month timeline they published to me at the beginning of the job - given all of the shortages and supply chain issues I was very impressed! In addition, they stayed on-budget with no cost changes compared to the original quoted work. I am so embarrassed. The glowing review I gave before the project was finished must've jinxed everything. We have not heard from anyone at the company in a week. Our project is only a little more than halfway done, and it's been marked as "archived" on the project management platform they had us using for communication (Basecamp). No one is answering our phone calls. Don, Diego, Manny... none of these guys are answering us, when before, we'd hear back within hours. Rumor has it that Manny, the owner, has moved to Mexico, but I have not been able to confirm this. Writing this, I'm trying not to vomit. Company looks like it does beautiful work. I asked for a quote. They sent a rep out to take measurements of our yard. We are planning to add a pool, spa and hardscape to our yard. I was told by the rep they sent out that I'd be contacted by a design person to figure out what we wanted. The only call I received was from a woman telling me they are extremely busy and asked if I would be okay spending between $100,000-$150,000 because that's their minimum. I'm aware pools are pricey in Southern California, but seriously? No discussion with a design rep first prior to throwing out dollar amounts? I'm sure what we are wanting will be six figures but that's bad business. We'll take our money elsewhere. What can I say about Dreamscapes...? I just recently hired these guys (Manny, Diego and team) to do a small(ish) 1200sq ft. of what was initially supposed to be sod and some minor brick work and BOY did they deliver... they also made a couple of smart recommendations that I add a couple of sprinkler heads and some extra drainage and I readily agreed. I had 3 companies come out to bid this and dreamscapes wasnt the cheapest initial bid, or the most expensive. What ultimately sold me was the analysis / recommendations that Diego made, the beautiful pictures of previous work they have done and, most importantly, the level of professionalism that I had anticipated receiving. They ended up starting the job sooner than they said they could, and finishing it in less days than they projected, which was based on their busy schedule... At the end of the day, these guys ended up adding a couple of minor "extras" that also made everything just tie together and pop. My wife and I had been wanting to do a pool remodel which included an in ground spa, swim up bar, beach entry, water features, new flagstone decking, BBQ island and much much more to our backyard. I'm pretty shocked and don't enjoy giving such a bad a review, but I think it's necessary to get the warning out. I called their office yesterday to inquire about a quote on my backyard pool (re-plaster/tile) and redo my concrete in the backyard. The receptionist was nice and forwarded me to their salesperson Eric. The phone transferred directly to his voicemail. So then I called back and asked the girl if I needed to leave a voicemail or if she wanted to try again. She said no problem and took down my name and where I lived with a brief description of the project I was needing. Okay, so good so far. This morning I get a call from a Rebecca stating that she has a basic questionnaire for me to answer over the phone before Eric will call and make an appointment. I thought this to be very odd and went along with it. I get asked the same questions again - what's your name, where do you live etc. The part that really shocked me was when she asked me point blank what my budget is. I politely told her that my budget is not something I felt was appropriate to discuss until I see a bid in hand and have a chance to talk with salesperson first. This really didn't sit well with me and I immediately knew this wasn't going to go well. Then right after that she paused mid sentence as if she was talking to someone over her shoulder and proceeded to tell me that the salesperson and company wouldn't look at any 'project' for less than $80-100k. period. I had the pleasure of hiring Dreamscapes to complete a large outside house project. This included new pavers, IPE deck, Pergola, spa, and many other items. Dreamscapes & Eric MacRae came highly recommended so we met to discuss design. Within one hour of meeting him, we decided that we would use his Company for our project. We typically meet with several contractors before making a decision, especially one of this magnitude. But, Eric made us feel confident that this was the right decision. F-L-A-K-E... This has been the worst contractor experience I've ever had. Thankfully I finally threw in the towel and found someone else to do the work. Manny, from Dreamscapes by MGR, was referred to me by my pool guy (very reputable). I contacted Manny and after two attempts, Manny came to look at the project. The following was his formal bid sent to me in an email... "Hello Robert Again, I'm so sorry about getting this estimate late to you. But total cost for the work we went over is $9,825.00. This includes all material and labor. But no permits. Let me know if you have any questions. Again, I am so sorry I was late on getting you this estimate." Zero detail on the work to be completed and when I emailed him back to ask if something was included, I got "yes. Everything we discussed" as a response. Nearly two months has passed, I've emailed Manny multiple times and left multiple messages on his phone.... TOTAL SILENCE. To those people looking for concrete work, buyer beware!! It's been a childhood dream of mine to have a pool in my backyard. I had a vague idea about what I wanted but knew my dream yard had to match what I could afford. Before hiring someone I wanted an idea of what could be done and what the price tag might look like. To my amazement a 2 of the 4 companies that I had out to bid the project wanted more than $1000 before even showing me on paper what could be done. Fortunately for me, Dreamscapes was not one of those companies!! Kirk, from Dreamscapes, came out and did two 2D designs for me before I even settled on using Dreamscapes. Once hired, Kirk created a color 3D design complete with example plants, furniture, etc. Kirk iteratively altered the design until we had a blueprint for the backyard pool and entertainment space that I'd been dreaming about for so long. I was nervous about unexpected costs & how everything was going to turn out, as we had to demo not only the backyard but also the front yard, due to the layout access to my backyard. Dreamscapes, both Kirk and my project manager, Diego, reassured me all the way through the process. Kirk helped me pick beautiful materials that didn't completely break the budget. The Dreamscapes staff were incredibly talented, very polite, super helpful, and Diego kept the project moving quickly. The masons and glass tile specialists that they have are superb (thanks Juan and crew), as are their landscape architects; Rogelio, Santiago and crew, helped so much with those beautiful finishing touches. In the end, we had a pool with infinity spa, a travertine paver patio, lattice patio cover, fire feature and bbq island put into the back yard. The front yard was spruced up too as we had them update our front porch/ walkway and encircle our front yard with a stone veneered masonry and wrought iron fence. The yards were landscaped with colorful water-wise tropical looking plants and landscape lighting which make both yards look gorgeous both day and night. The 3D design was spot on, but the live version is so much prettier than I had even expected (& I had high expectations). My yard, which had begun to look tired, is now the envy of the neighborhood. We now spend more time outside enjoying our yard than we ever have since we moved in 15 years ago. I couldn't be happier with the finished product and highly recommend Dreamscapes. read more

Dreamscape didn't amazing job of transforming my backyard. When we bought the house it was a patch of bare dirt. They worked with us every step of the way teaching us about design and materials as we went so that we could make better informed choices. I can't decide which is my favorite part. I love the giant pots. They have hidden built in irrigation coming up from the ground into the bottom of the pots. I don't have to see any hoses or tubes and I also don't have to worry about going out with a watering can or hiring someone when I go out of town, it is all on a timer. Very low maintenance. The water wall looks amazing and the sound is very relaxing. It is also on a timer so I don't have to worry about switching it on and off or cycling the water through to keep it clean. Another way they made the yard look great while keeping it low maintenance. The feature I use the least but enjoy the most is the fire table. When we have guests over it is so nice to sit outside around the fire and talk. I don't know why having a fire makes the conversation better but it always seems like it does. My wife and I both have crazy travel schedules but they worked with us and were able to send us pictures or videos to help us make choices and were also willing to pause the project til we got home if there was something we wanted to see for ourselves. I've worked with lots of contractors on lots of projects and Dreamscapes customer service is top notch. read more

Dreamscapes was a dream! My husband and I are renovation junkies, and the idea of demo-ing our entire yard, and starting from scratch was daunting even for us. From the start, we interviewed three companies. joe was our designer, and of all three companies, he was the only one that saw our vision and helped us expand that vision into something we could have never dreamed of. After months of designing and planning we finally decided to pull the trigger and sign the contract with Dreamscapes, it is a decision we will never regret. We were given Gabe as a project manager. Gabe was attentive, respectful, and ran a tight ship. I have never seen anyone work so hard, and be so busy, yet he always had time to answer a question or a phone call without ever making us feel like a burden. We were given a time frame of 4-6 months for our project to be completed, and they finished in 5 months. The workers were just as amazing as Joe and Gabe. They were extremely hard working, a lot of times being here 6 days a week. They cleaned up after themselves, and were extremely respectful of not only us, but the fact that we had to live in the construction zone. When we were looking to hire a company, we read all the reviews on every company. I noticed that the negative reviews for Dreamscapes, were pretty much all from people that had not used the company, but of the people that did, all had experiences like ours and the reviews were great. He caught a few potential electrical safety issues that the previous companies didn't see, on his first visit to our backyard and then came up with a design that totally blew our mind away instead. Dreamscapes by MGR is a quality, high-end design/build company. You get what you pay for--expensive, but well worth it knowing that it was done correctly, from irrigation to electrical to drainage, proper grading, etc. not to mention the beautiful finished product. My first project with them several years ago was nothing extravagant or large scale, but Kirk (just so happens to have the same first name) designed a phenomenal front and backyard for us and the quality of workmanship was superb. They were knowledgeable, attentive, responsive, considerate of our neighbors, friendly, and professional. *I must ad that one of the senior city inspectors lived down the street from us, and he made it a point to tell us that Dreamscapes is one of the best that he sees when doing inspections--if that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is.* 4 years later and in a new home, I have asked Kirk to come back without hesitation (simply gave him a call directly on his cell phone)--and yes he is still with the company which also says a lot. His design rendering of what my wife and I discussed with him was absolutely spot on and stunning, no surprise. While the cost is a bit out of reach considering we just bought a brand new home with upgrades, furniture, etc., Kirk is working with us to build a beautiful, functional, front and back yard, with the end goal rendering in mind. He is putting together the items we should/need to do now to fit our future plans and eliminate redundancies/waste when we finish the project down the road.
