The Dreamscapes team did an excellent job building the pool and backyard we wanted! We started looking for a contractor in June of 2021. We were already working with an independent designer and just needed a contractor to build the pool. Working with an independent designer helped ensure apples-to-apples bids from multiple contractors, but caused delays during the permit process. From the time of permit approval, Dreamscapes did a phenomenal job and was our primary contact for the pool and landscape construction. Our Timeline: June 2021 - design & bids July 2021 - decision on contractor August 2021 - designer submitted drawings for permits February 2022 - permits approved, given to Dreamscapes March 2022 - Dreamscapes started construction August 2022 - Dreamscapes completed construction The Dreamscapes bid was the best value of the three contractors we had quote our design. Watching them work during the process, my guess is that Dreamscapes many years in the business has earned them a network of professionals who they rely on for certain specialty portions of the work - shotcrete and plaster in particular - as well as extensive in-house crews for tile, landscape and hardscape. This combination delivered incredible quality at a price point that beat out the other contractors by over 10%! During the project, Manny and Efrain were responsive and worked hard to keep the job on schedule. We had issues and a few delays during the project, but they demonstrated clear and effective communication the entire time. In spite of the delays (concrete, plaster, pool equipment), the project completed just 5 days behind the 5-month timeline they published to me at the beginning of the job - given all of the shortages and supply chain issues I was very impressed! In addition, they stayed on-budget with no cost changes compared to the original quoted work. Communication: excellent, 5/5 Quality of work: excellent, 5/5 Schedule adherence: excellent, 5/5 Value: excellent, 5/5 Cost adherence: excellent, 5/5i read more

I am so embarrassed. The glowing review I gave before the project was finished must've jinxed everything. We have not heard from anyone at the company in a week. Our project is only a little more than halfway done, and it's been marked as "archived" on the project management platform they had us using for communication (Basecamp). No one is answering our phone calls. Don, Diego, Manny... none of these guys are answering us, when before, we'd hear back within hours. Rumor has it that Manny, the owner, has moved to Mexico, but I have not been able to confirm this. Writing this, I'm trying not to vomit. Again, our project of doing a complete overhaul of our backyard is barely halfway finished and this company has ghosted us. It was too good to be true. read more

Dreamscapes made our backyard dream come true! Our project turned out way better than we could even imagine thanks to Kirk, Diego and the amazing Dreamscapes crew!! We interviewed multiple contractors and we are thrilled we selected Dreamscapes! Kirk, our extremely talented Designer/Project Lead, guided us through every step of the project. Diego, our incredible Project Manager, kept everything moving on track and coordinated all of the crews. The team was extremely great to work with as communication was very easy and we always knew what to expect. Kirk did an excellent job in bringing our vision to life and enhancing it with his on-point recommendations. We are absolutely thrilled with how beautifully everything turned out and we are grateful that the process was stress-free and enjoyable. We will absolutely hire them again! read more

Kirk and Jim are phenomenal! Great people, easy to work with and we love the final product! Thank you for our dream backyard! Kirk took our needs and rough ideas and turned it into a very functional layout that really opened-up our backyard. The built-in seating, countertops, storage for drink trays, refrigerator, and commercial ice machine make set-up for parties so much easier than lugging chairs, tables and drink bins from the garage...not to mention no more day-of ice runs to the grocery store. The materials make it seem like we like in a resort and it's virtually maintenance free. Our backyard was nice to begin with, so we were in the fence, but are now so glad we did. Our family is going to enjoy this for decades to come! read more

Company looks like it does beautiful work. I asked for a quote. They sent a rep out to take measurements of our yard. We are planning to add a pool, spa and hardscape to our yard. I was told by the rep they sent out that I'd be contacted by a design person to figure out what we wanted. The only call I received was from a woman telling me they are extremely busy and asked if I would be okay spending between $100,000-$150,000 because that's their minimum. I'm aware pools are pricey in Southern California, but seriously? No discussion with a design rep first prior to throwing out dollar amounts? I'm sure what we are wanting will be six figures but that's bad business. We'll take our money elsewhere. I attached a pic of the yard to show that while it's not a huge area it's got plenty of room for a pool. read more

We can't speak highly enough about this company and their professional staff... From our initial consultation with Joe, to obtaining the city permits and completing the project, everything went smoothly. Joe was very detail oriented. He directed us to make good decisions as far as design and material selection. Juan was another professional member of their team. Jim was our project manager and he was a joy to work with. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. He went above and beyond to complete the project in a timely manner. We consulted many companies prior to MGR; however, we were so fortunate to pick this company for our project. We highly recommend them. read more

Elements of Feng shui are critical in my living space. As My partner and I have a rental area, we felt the space needed an upgraded platform of plants, and a newly designed pool and spa. We had been unsure of how to go about the newly upgraded designs we wanted, so we were relieved when suggestions were made to ensure our vision was executed. Frankly our city permits took a bit longer than expected, so I appreciated the patience this company had in working with us during this time. Once the job started, I have to say the renovations of my property are truly transformative. Due to some past weekend rain, things were set back a bit, but the progress thus far is exceptional. Project manager on site is organized and I appreciate the communication during the duration of this project. read more

I did some homework before I picked someone to construct my pool. THey say ask your neighbors and friends cause you you don't know why you will get. You read reviews on pool companies and they state these people are the worst or these guys are the best ever.... who are you going to trust? I it's allot of money and a long process...well I guess I got lucky, cause I had a high school friend that posted on social media he was building a pool. So I called and asked if l could come by and see the work and talk to him about the company. Dreamscapes is an Orange County company so I wasn't sure about coming too Long Beach and the fact that I have a small yard. I emailed them and they called me, no issues... I told them what I wanted and they designed it. They started in October and they were done December 20th. We just had final inspection and passed!! This company has a constant communication, via their website and me and my project manger would texted each other(Diego) . If you are lucky enough to have him as your project manger, lucky you!! I'm so happy with the results!! This is exactly what I wanted!!! I have already been in it, who cares if I it's cold outside !!! Jumping in!! Thank you Dreamscapes!! read more

Dreamscapes are world class. They did a yard rehab, large spa, and BBQ for us. The project came out fantastic, exactly as we envisioned. Design process was great, permitting was diligent and prompt and once they got started they were at it non stop until the job was done. Extras were all fair, well documented, and totally up front - no issues there. Could not ask for much more. Close out drug on about three weeks longer than it probably should have but that was a minor annoyance in an overall great experience. read more

I called Dreamscape to give me a quote for a pool remodel. I never heard back from them until I called a couple of times. Then a young man came out to take measurements and start the process. About a month passed by and never received a call back about the quote. Today (month later) I receive a call from a lady inquiring if I was ever contacted about my pool remodel. I would never use a company like this. They must be so busy or unable to handle customer service. Imagine if I was working with them and they leave me in a bad situation. read more

This is a top class landscaping company. Kirk and Co were all very helpful in coming up with a plan for our front and back yards and the result was better than we expected. What can I say about Dreamscapes...? I just recently hired these guys (Manny, Diego and team) to do a small(ish) 1200sq ft. of what was initially supposed to be sod and some minor brick work and BOY did they deliver... they also made a couple of smart recommendations that I add a couple of sprinkler heads and some extra drainage and I readily agreed. I had 3 companies come out to bid this and dreamscapes wasnt the cheapest initial bid, or the most expensive. What ultimately sold me was the analysis / recommendations that Diego made, the beautiful pictures of previous work they have done and, most importantly, the level of professionalism that I had anticipated receiving. They ended up starting the job sooner than they said they could, and finishing it in less days than they projected, which was based on their busy schedule... At the end of the day, these guys ended up adding a couple of minor "extras" that also made everything just tie together and pop. Wife is stoked to have new grass and I have peace of mind that my drainage is on point for next season. Well done guys - read more

We used Dreamscapes because a colleague had their yard redone and we liked their work. A couple of months ago we had our rental home property redone in Newport Coast. My wife and I had been wanting to do a pool remodel which included an in ground spa, swim up bar, beach entry, water features, new flagstone decking, BBQ island and much much more to our backyard. I left our first message 3 weeks ago now and since then have left 3 more messages with a young lady that answers the phone every time we call. She told us she would relay the message to someone and they would contact us back. Ever since then nothing and I mean nothing (crickets) not even a voicemail. As business owners ourselves we hold ourselves to high standards and believe customer service is EVERYTHING. We can't believe the horrendous communication this company has or lack there of we should say. We would NEVER EVER hire this company to even touch the bark in our backyard. We thought we had experienced the worst customer service from another contractor but this company takes the cake. Wake up people and return a customers call who's looking to spend A LOT of $$$ Take it from us take your business elsewhere. To say that Dreamscapes "built" us a pool does not even begin to give justice to what this company accomplishes. You start out with meeting Joe. He then produces plans beyond what you had in your mind. Once that step was completed, the project was then put into Diego's hands. He was around all the time from start to finish. We did not just put a pool in, we rebuilt our entire backyard. From start to finish (and that was some months) our backyard now rivals any resort there is. It not only looks unbelievable, but the quality of all materials and finishes are top shelf. We thank you so much for the completion of this project and what you have given us!! Amazing doesn't even begin to describe. Thank you, The Brysons read more

I had the pleasure of hiring Dreamscapes to complete a large outside house project. This included new pavers, IPE deck, Pergola, spa, and many other items. Dreamscapes & Eric MacRae came highly recommended so we met to discuss design. Within one hour of meeting him, we decided that we would use his Company for our project. We typically meet with several contractors before making a decision, especially one of this magnitude. But, Eric made us feel confident that this was the right decision. Eric is an incredibly calm, fair and creative person. Here are the reasons why Dreamscapes, Eric and Gabe "Project Manager" are the right choice for anyone's outside remodel. Eric came to the table with ideas that she had not thought of, which is no small feat. Furthermore, he was able to translate our vision into a drawing, while "correcting" any design elements that we had that did not fit in the overall project. Eric, Gabe and their team work like a well-oiled machine. I was pleasantly surprised at how little "collateral damage" there was in a project of this size. Furthermore, we were met with many obstacles and challenges. There wasn't one single problem Gabe could not overcome by using decades of experience. They use the highest quality materials available and the most experienced and skilled employees. Gabe and his crew understand every aspect of the project on a very detailed level. Furthermore, Dreamscapes has a massive network of subcontractors, each one of them performing at the same caliber as their own crew. The result of this is truly a turnkey project where Dreamscapes facilitates every aspect of the project. Eric, Gabe and their crew are by far the easiest and most professional contractor I have ever dealt with. Communication was detailed and frequent. Even during very complicated and challenging aspects of the project, the discussions were calm and professional. Furthermore, Gabe always found a solution to every issue we encountered. These solutions worked in harmony with the other parts of the project and also stayed within budget. Eric and Gabe exceeded our expectations on many levels. All of us had some major challenges and issues on our project and Dreamscapes didn't give up. They stayed as our partner until the end. We could not be happier with the finished project. I am sure they hear this often, but I am caught staring at our deck and spa in amazement. Finally, I see that there are several "1 star reviews". After further reading, it appears that most, if not all, of these reviews are written by people who never actually engaged Dreamscapes for their project. Don't be swayed by these "1 star reviews". Give Eric a call; I'm confident you will be very pleased with the result. read more

I'm pretty shocked and don't enjoy giving such a bad a review, but I think it's necessary to get the warning out. I called their office yesterday to inquire about a quote on my backyard pool (re-plaster/tile) and redo my concrete in the backyard. The receptionist was nice and forwarded me to their salesperson Eric. The phone transferred directly to his voicemail. So then I called back and asked the girl if I needed to leave a voicemail or if she wanted to try again. She said no problem and took down my name and where I lived with a brief description of the project I was needing. Okay, so good so far. This morning I get a call from a Rebecca stating that she has a basic questionnaire for me to answer over the phone before Eric will call and make an appointment. I thought this to be very odd and went along with it. I get asked the same questions again - what's your name, where do you live etc. The part that really shocked me was when she asked me point blank what my budget is. I politely told her that my budget is not something I felt was appropriate to discuss until I see a bid in hand and have a chance to talk with salesperson first. This really didn't sit well with me and I immediately knew this wasn't going to go well. Then right after that she paused mid sentence as if she was talking to someone over her shoulder and proceeded to tell me that the salesperson and company wouldn't look at any 'project' for less than $80-100k. period. Appreciated the honesty, however people like me perusing yelp and looking at companies that do 'masonry and landscaping' should be aware. read more

F-L-A-K-E... This has been the worst contractor experience I've ever had. Thankfully I finally threw in the towel and found someone else to do the work. Manny, from Dreamscapes by MGR, was referred to me by my pool guy (very reputable). I contacted Manny and after two attempts, Manny came to look at the project. The following was his formal bid sent to me in an email... "Hello Robert Again, I'm so sorry about getting this estimate late to you. But total cost for the work we went over is $9,825.00. This includes all material and labor. But no permits. Let me know if you have any questions. Again, I am so sorry I was late on getting you this estimate." Zero detail on the work to be completed and when I emailed him back to ask if something was included, I got "yes. Everything we discussed" as a response. Nearly two months has passed, I've emailed Manny multiple times and left multiple messages on his phone.... TOTAL SILENCE. To those people looking for concrete work, buyer beware!! If you want a total flake contractor to do your work, call Manny. Otherwise move on to the next contractor. read more

Diego and his crew are great. This is our second time working with them and we have been very happy with the results both times. They deliver great looking results (and always clean everything up when they are done so it looks perfect). They come to work just as scheduled and treat our yard with respect. On this project, they encountered an unexpected problem with our drainage system which was not their fault, they came up with a good creative solution and went right to work executing it. Did it add to the cost? Of course, but that is the nature of house renovation projects. If you want first class done right the first time, these are your guys. read more

It's been a childhood dream of mine to have a pool in my backyard. I had a vague idea about what I wanted but knew my dream yard had to match what I could afford. Before hiring someone I wanted an idea of what could be done and what the price tag might look like. To my amazement a 2 of the 4 companies that I had out to bid the project wanted more than $1000 before even showing me on paper what could be done. Fortunately for me, Dreamscapes was not one of those companies!! Kirk, from Dreamscapes, came out and did two 2D designs for me before I even settled on using Dreamscapes. Once hired, Kirk created a color 3D design complete with example plants, furniture, etc. Kirk iteratively altered the design until we had a blueprint for the backyard pool and entertainment space that I'd been dreaming about for so long. I was nervous about unexpected costs & how everything was going to turn out, as we had to demo not only the backyard but also the front yard, due to the layout access to my backyard. Dreamscapes, both Kirk and my project manager, Diego, reassured me all the way through the process. Kirk helped me pick beautiful materials that didn't completely break the budget. The Dreamscapes staff were incredibly talented, very polite, super helpful, and Diego kept the project moving quickly. The masons and glass tile specialists that they have are superb (thanks Juan and crew), as are their landscape architects; Rogelio, Santiago and crew, helped so much with those beautiful finishing touches. In the end, we had a pool with infinity spa, a travertine paver patio, lattice patio cover, fire feature and bbq island put into the back yard. The front yard was spruced up too as we had them update our front porch/ walkway and encircle our front yard with a stone veneered masonry and wrought iron fence. The yards were landscaped with colorful water-wise tropical looking plants and landscape lighting which make both yards look gorgeous both day and night. The 3D design was spot on, but the live version is so much prettier than I had even expected (& I had high expectations). My yard, which had begun to look tired, is now the envy of the neighborhood. We now spend more time outside enjoying our yard than we ever have since we moved in 15 years ago. I couldn't be happier with the finished product and highly recommend Dreamscapes. read more

Dreamscape didn't amazing job of transforming my backyard. When we bought the house it was a patch of bare dirt. They worked with us every step of the way teaching us about design and materials as we went so that we could make better informed choices. I can't decide which is my favorite part. I love the giant pots. They have hidden built in irrigation coming up from the ground into the bottom of the pots. I don't have to see any hoses or tubes and I also don't have to worry about going out with a watering can or hiring someone when I go out of town, it is all on a timer. Very low maintenance. The water wall looks amazing and the sound is very relaxing. It is also on a timer so I don't have to worry about switching it on and off or cycling the water through to keep it clean. Another way they made the yard look great while keeping it low maintenance. The feature I use the least but enjoy the most is the fire table. When we have guests over it is so nice to sit outside around the fire and talk. I don't know why having a fire makes the conversation better but it always seems like it does. My wife and I both have crazy travel schedules but they worked with us and were able to send us pictures or videos to help us make choices and were also willing to pause the project til we got home if there was something we wanted to see for ourselves. I've worked with lots of contractors on lots of projects and Dreamscapes customer service is top notch. read more

Dreamscapes was a dream! My husband and I are renovation junkies, and the idea of demo-ing our entire yard, and starting from scratch was daunting even for us. From the start, we interviewed three companies. joe was our designer, and of all three companies, he was the only one that saw our vision and helped us expand that vision into something we could have never dreamed of. After months of designing and planning we finally decided to pull the trigger and sign the contract with Dreamscapes, it is a decision we will never regret. We were given Gabe as a project manager. Gabe was attentive, respectful, and ran a tight ship. I have never seen anyone work so hard, and be so busy, yet he always had time to answer a question or a phone call without ever making us feel like a burden. We were given a time frame of 4-6 months for our project to be completed, and they finished in 5 months. The workers were just as amazing as Joe and Gabe. They were extremely hard working, a lot of times being here 6 days a week. They cleaned up after themselves, and were extremely respectful of not only us, but the fact that we had to live in the construction zone. When we were looking to hire a company, we read all the reviews on every company. I noticed that the negative reviews for Dreamscapes, were pretty much all from people that had not used the company, but of the people that did, all had experiences like ours and the reviews were great. I would highly recommend working with Dreamscapes, and if I were to build another yard tomorrow, I would hands down use them again. read more

Dreamscapes by MGR is definitely the way to go for designing and building your exterior spaces. We met with a couple companies before them, and could never be happier with the decision. Their design and materials used are high-end and luxurious, yet their prices are very competitive. We had Joe as our designer and he is very responsive, detailed and was a breeze to work with. He caught a few potential electrical safety issues that the previous companies didn't see, on his first visit to our backyard and then came up with a design that totally blew our mind away instead. Joe showed up immediately when there were design related issues in the field, so we never had to worry about anything, he took care of any issues for us. The field crews were focused, hard working, very respectful to the home owner. The crews always made sure to clean up the area at the end of each shifts. read more

Dreamscapes by MGR is a quality, high-end design/build company. You get what you pay for--expensive, but well worth it knowing that it was done correctly, from irrigation to electrical to drainage, proper grading, etc. not to mention the beautiful finished product. My first project with them several years ago was nothing extravagant or large scale, but Kirk (just so happens to have the same first name) designed a phenomenal front and backyard for us and the quality of workmanship was superb. They were knowledgeable, attentive, responsive, considerate of our neighbors, friendly, and professional. *I must ad that one of the senior city inspectors lived down the street from us, and he made it a point to tell us that Dreamscapes is one of the best that he sees when doing inspections--if that isn't an endorsement, I don't know what is.* 4 years later and in a new home, I have asked Kirk to come back without hesitation (simply gave him a call directly on his cell phone)--and yes he is still with the company which also says a lot. His design rendering of what my wife and I discussed with him was absolutely spot on and stunning, no surprise. While the cost is a bit out of reach considering we just bought a brand new home with upgrades, furniture, etc., Kirk is working with us to build a beautiful, functional, front and back yard, with the end goal rendering in mind. He is putting together the items we should/need to do now to fit our future plans and eliminate redundancies/waste when we finish the project down the road. If you want true superb quality all the way around and understand the concept of you pay for what you get, meet with Kirk at Dreamscapes by MGR. read more
