Today we got takeout from Dreamland BBQ in Duluth, Ga. The food is "Terrible". The pork was chopped and a little black, all the buns were BURNED and the sauce tasted like vinegar. We ended up coming because the wait at Nacho Daddy was 1.5 hours. We should have waited. The hostess was unfriendly borderline rude. Everything we ordered tasted mass produced and previously frozen. The Mac and Cheese tasted like it came out of a Stouffer's box. The fried green tomatoes were over cooked inside and soft. The BBQ sandwich was the worst I've ever tasted. My husband ordered ribs and he gave them a 5 out of 10. The best part of our meal was the Coca Cola. Save your time and money. read more

Came here for dinner was served cold/half warmed up microwave ribs with a nasty bbq sauce. It's def not your normal bbq it's vinegar based was what I was told. It was gross. Tried the wings it was microwaved better I guess cause it had a better temp. the food came out the same time and shortly after the order was made so for sure it wasn't fresh at all but burned ribs and cold. The Mac and cheese was a joke. Bland and mushy. The manager didn't care to do anything about it but try to give us more crappy food. This review is strictly for to go service at this location. I quickly noticed that this location is much more modern than the Alpharetta location. When I saw how cute it was upon walking in, I was starting to regret coming just to get take out-however the freezing cold weather outside reminded me that I needed to get my food and get home lol. I ordered a slab of ribs and they were very good! I did not order any sides , nor did I want their sauce (I really don't like the way it tastes). Their ribs are seasoned and smoked to perfection! I know that this location has low reviews, but I do recommend giving them a try. This is very good barbecue considering there aren't many options on this side of town. Huge disappointment. Ordered food for the entire family for take out. I asked the lady who answered the phone if the chicken meat used for the BBQ sandwiches was shredded or pulled, and she answered yes. It wasn't. It was chicken cubed, and not very well either. I could have lived with it, except for the fact that the chicken was completely dried out. The coleslaw and baked beans were basic, nothing special. My mom ordered the half slab of ribs, which she was extremely disappointed with. They were VERY dry and she said lacked flavor. She had potato salad and the fried okra as her sides, both of which were below average. The second my food arrived I realized we were not dealing with the kind of quality, home-made, fresh goodness I've been accustomed to. I could tell with barely a glance that the mac n cheese was clearly of the frozen, crap variety. Certainly good enough for children but as an "upgraded," side dish... fairly unacceptable. The same went for the okra and... I realized the reason they didn't need a temp on my burger, as I noted the perfect circle of a frozen, thawed and cooked patty in front of me, was because... well frozen burgers have two levels of "done." frozen and cooked. As far as a frozen patty goes, it was fine. My husband's BBQ was "good." not great. Then we got the bill and I'll say this, $40.00 for frozen food and less-then stellar BBQ is just too high for two people. Seriously disappointed. Next time my husband has a hankering for BBQ I'll make sure we go to FOX bros or jim n nicks or something worth eating at. *sigh* and we had such high hopes for having a local place to go. Bummer. I'm so happy to be able to update my review. We took the whole fam here for lunch on Black Friday and they did a GREAT JOB. The service was swift and came with a smile (sometimes hard to do with some of the cranky people in our party!!) The food came out quickly and was much improved from our last visit. I had the BBQ salad with pulled pork on top and it was delicious. Everyone else also enjoyed their food as well--a mix of BBQ meat sandwiches and platters. The beer list was good, as always. I have to agree with Dean G. I prefer Jim n' Nick's because the portions are bigger, it's a much better value, I prefer their BBQ sauce is better, and their kids menu blows Dreamland's away (again, portions and value). The ribs at Dreamland are delicious, and I like the Brunswick stew. I don't like their coleslaw because it has too much mayonnaise, but that is my personal preference. I prefer tangy coleslaw like Jim N Nick's. Kids menu - We ordered chicken fingers and returned them. They were fried to a crisp. Not to beat a dead horse, but we are comparing them to Jim N Nick's where the chicken tenders are just that...tender and juicy with big hunks of chicken breast that are fresh. The chicken tenders at Dreamland were thin and not meaty at all. The kids were not pleased. They also prefer the BBQ sandwich at Jim N Nick's. Very disappointed. I've been waiting for my favorite barbecue and this place did not make the cut. First, we waited for way too long to get cold food. Yes, my ribs were lukewarm. They were chewy and burned on the top and bottom. My fried okra was lukewarm too plus it had some sort of sauce dribbled on it. I also got the house made barbecue chips which were so so. Our waitress was nice enough, but undertrained. We rarely saw her. We will try again in a month or so, hopefully this place will have gotten it's act together by then. read more

Great time at Dreamland tonight. It was a quiet Monday and the service was exceptional. We had a nice chat with the manager. It's a big location with plenty of room for special events as well. The food was good. I came wanting the Tips and Chips with is some kind of BBQ and homemade chips love child, but they were out of tips. So, I got the nachos. They were good, but the nacho cheese is holding them back. Maybe kick it up with something more interesting like a pepper jack or something. The husband got a pork sandwich and beans. Both were very good. The pickles were a great touch. Their local beer list was on point. They even had Tropicalia! We really enjoyed looking it over and trying a Scofflaw sample. The effort put into the local beer list was appreciated. We also learned from the manager that you can walk around down here with an open container. This is a great option for the Summer. I would recommend this location for families. Lots of room to spread out and it's not too quiet. The kids will enjoy seeing the license plates and open grill. read more

Great location, great building. Service is going to need some help if it is going to make it. Our server was nice and knowledgeable, but that is where it ended. The expediter literally dropped our appetizer on the table while our server was taking our order, on the way out she knocked a spoon off of our table. When she brought a new spoon back she handed it off to my son as she walked by our table without stopping. While we were waiting for our food, I watched two managers and several servers congregating and feasting behind the bar. When our sandwiches came, the expediter again dropped the plates on the table. The pork sandwich was spiced nicely and tasted good, it just didn't taste like barbecue to me. It lacked any real smokiness. As a pork sandwich it was excellent, as a barbecue sandwich it was poor. I had a beer with my dinner, the beer came out about 2/3 full, presumably because the bartender needed to get back to whatever she was munching on. Great location and beer menu. Have been there several times. Tonight we ate around 9 and the fries were cold and my wings were cold. Manager did come out and try to make things right, but from multiple experiences I can tell you that there are problems in the kitchen. This wasn't my first bad experience with food that wasn't properly prepared or cooked earlier and served up cold. I read the review from the guy who said don't complain if you don't order the pork, but if you serve fries, wings, etc. and you are paying for them then you shouldn't expect cold food that was prepared earlier in the night. read more

First BBQ spot I stopped by with my husband in the South. I had high expectations coming to a southern BBQ restaurant. Very tender ribs with a sauce with the right amount of spiciness. I do want to like this place, and there's many things I do Love about It. The Mac and cheese is great and so is the sweet tea, which are both pretty essential parts of a BBQ meal. But unfortunately, the meat is just not great. I got the ribs the first time and they were just okay. So hard they got stuck in my teeth. The second time I got the pulled pork, and I understand some places chop up their pulled pork more finely, but it was practically ground up. And dry, which I've never had a problem with at bbq restaurants when I get pork. The only complaint I have is they changed their coleslaw which was the best to some crummy receipe. As much as I like their sandwich the cole slaw was one of the big draws. Wasn't busy, a larger party than ours was seated after us and was served instantly, took almost 30 minutes to get greeted and drinks ordered which only happened because I waved someone down. This is best described as the "good will" of BBQ. All the meats are always super dry and overcooked. All the sides are box made and way worse than what you could buy at Kroger... at least switch to velveeta shells and cheese, that would be an upgrade. Came one on a Wednesday evening for dinner since we were in the area - historic downtown Duluth. The location is so cute, nice area to walk around and enjoy for families. Also beside a brewery so families and singles alike will enjoy the area. The restaurant itself is so so. There wasn't a crowd, we were seated immediately and service was quick. We started with cheese fries, my husband got the pull pork sandwhich and I got the rib tips wrap. I didnt like my wrap, the rib ties were very hard. My husband enjoyed his sandwhich. I have tried their Q and it is meat with sauce poured all over it. I don't trust bbq when they have to pour sauce on it to make it tasty like bbq.
