We first discovered their wines at a local coffee shop back home in San Diego, so when we realized they were based in Los Olivos, we knew we had to stop on our trip. The tasting room is stylish, warm, and inviting. It has that modern, researched, intentional look I gravitate toward in wine brands. I also love that they source their grapes locally and offer light, refreshing chillable reds and natural wines. Their chillable Pinot Noir was such a pleasant surprise -- I don't usually like traditional Pinot, but this one was vibrant, fresh, and so easy to drink. I had a great conversation with the server about the wines I enjoy, how the wine industry is shifting, and the growing appeal of refreshing, bright, natural‑leaning wines. Dreamcote is a fun spot! It's VERY small, so definitely make a reservation before you go. We had 6 people and were sat outside on the patio. There was only one woman working when I went and she was very busy and a little flustered, but was still kind and helpful. She said they were only offering glasses and bottles, which was a bummer since they have so many cool wines and we didn't really know what to try or what they were known for. We ended up with a bottle of their lovely Pinot noir and really enjoyed it! The bottles are very festive and cute, just like the space. read more

Unique unique wines ! You know there are plenty of tasting rooms all over Santa ynez area and if you have been to a few you are pretty much tasting different versions or blends of the similar types of the usual suspects! Here, however your tastebuds are introduced to a whole new world of awesomeness. I tried some amazing carbonic wines and some had a very earthy flavor which was uniquely refreshing from the typical flavors or blends. Our server was awesome too! She explained the story behind every wine as well as played an awesome playlist. We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely weather with some great wines after the tasting menu. Always a favorite, I recently stopped in for third time during a road trip adventure. I've followed Brit Zotavich ever since her and her husband were at Zotavich Winery. Dreamcote is, dare I say, a less serious endeavor or maybe it is a more fun endeavor? This is a place with soul, with wines that are meant to be drank not analyzed to death. Or as they put it on their website: "There is a secret society of flavor crazed, dynamic, determined and tenacious individuals that give this project life. We live simply, but well. Trailer dinner parties with friends, vineyard movie nights, irrigation pond floating sessions, great food, lots of wine. Couldn't be happier. The wines + ciders we craft are intended for your supper table, to be consumed weekly, casually, not to sit in your cellar, or on top of your fridge for a special occasion." More people should live like that and more people need to treat wine as the beverage it mostly is, not as a piece of art it very rarely can become. It is meant to make your time with friends and lovers better, or make other people more tolerable and less irritating ;-) At this stop, Marissa (I think, no note taking just memory) walked us through their current selection of wines. Dreamcote is located on the less busy street of San Marcos in Los Olivos and they always start you with addicting artisan popcorn. The wines started with a fun sparkling riesling, easy drinking apple cider, some more whites, a couple of smooth Carbonic process reds, then ending with our favorite wine which was a 2016 Tannat Dessert Wine. This was outstanding and the one we bought, 3 bottles! Yes, Dreamcote may not be "serious" wines but they know how to make wine very well. I just opened a several year old Dreamcote dessert blend of Sauvignon Blanc/Semillion that I bought a few years ago and it was fantastic! Just loveliness on a duffy boat ride during a hot summer afternoon in Newport Beach Harbor. BTW, about Tannat, known for being the grape of the Madiran region and now Uruquay's national grape, this varietal is undergoing it's "moment" in California right now. Per Tablas Creek: "as of 2016, there were 579 acres of Tannat planted in California, most from Tablas Creek cuttings, and nearly half planted in just the last 5 years." I had a lovely Tannat from Temecula of all places at Chapin Winery. Ridiculous price of $95 but the best Temecula wine I have ever had. I've also had California Tannats at Tablas Creek, Cambiata (along with a great Dornfelder), Sobon, Rock Wall and now Dreamcote. Haven't had one I didn't like yet :-) Oh, back to my review...Dreamcote is highly recommended ;-) read more

This is a cute wine shop located off the main street in Los Olivos. I like that they are trying to do things a little differently than the other wine shops around. They offered popcorn to taste and had cider available for tastings as well. A nice change up. We sampled a variety of wines, but the one that stuck out the most with me was their bubbly. They actually drizzled a little balsamic vinegar in with the wine and the combination was amazingly tasty. I had a great time here yesterday! This place is very innovative and quite different than any other place I have tried. The hard cider was very interesting and delicious in its own right. It was explained as not being a wine or beer and has a very small alcohol content. The Riesling had a pop cap, not a cork or screw top. This wine had a sparkle which is something that would be wonderful on a hot summer day. This was my favorite wine tasting room in Los Olivos for two reasons. First, I absolutely loved the variety of wine that was available (it was a bit more on the adventurous side). I ended up buying a bottle of Riesling and two bottles of sparkling pét nat! The sparkling wine was incredible, and chock full of alcohol (14%). I also tried a rosé cider which is sold in growlers. I heard that the company changes up their tasting menu with all sorts of experimental wine, and I love the concept of it. The second reason that I love this place is the affordable retail offerings. There were crystals, candles, home goods, decor, kitchen items, necklaces, earrings, cards, and accessories. These items were very carefully curated to appeal to a certain demographic (e.g. me). I bought two necklaces for less than $30 each! I will definitely come back here when I return to Los Olivos. read more

While tasting at So Fresh, our server told us we should check out Dreamcote and visit Brenda. Luckily, our next reservation was at Dreamcote and while Brenda wasn't there, my boyfriend and I had the extreme pleasure to meet Brit. We had some remarkable beverages and I picked up a few bottles and a growler to take home. Brit sat outside on the picnic bench with us for probably 2 hours just chatting and sharing her experience and knowledge of the industry, trends, and also pointed us to Future Perfect (next door). I love seeing winemakers celebrate each other and our time here with brit capped off our tasting in the best way. Delicious options, fun takeaways like sangria pouches, and wonderful hospitality. Wine tasting in Los Olivos can be a bit repetitive - you're visiting tasting rooms, and not wineries (which I was not used to), so there's less to explore. So after visiting some spots, I turned to yelp to help direct me to something good, and I'm glad it introduced me to Dreamcôte. Dreamcôte is a bit off the beaten path in terms of the main street as well as its offerings. You'll be tasting atypical wines (and cider) that offer something a bit different. Tasting options include lighter-bodied bold reds, a hard cider, and even a sparkling chardonnay. Complimentary popcorn is offered (or other bites, as we were informed that the next day would offer banh mi sliders) along with the tasting. The tasting is also one of the cheaper options in the area at $9, whereas the other places we tried varied between $12-$15 per tasting (pricier than I'm used to). Brit was helping us out, and she was both passionate and entertaining - she definitely helped make the tasting experience for us. But if you need extra entertainment, there are games along the bar that you can play with (our seats had a connect four and mini air hockey game nearby). Extra bonus - there was a bathroom! An apparent rarity in this area. If you're visiting a few tasting rooms in the area, I highly recommend including Dreamcôte in your agenda. read more

We hit up Dreamcoate every visit to Los Olivos. The wine tasting room is likely the most unpretentious room in the valley, and the servers are friendly and playful, and there's free bags of gourmet popcorn, and Connect Four, yummy cider, but the reason it gets five stars is because I feel guilty for giving Brit the incorrect spelling of "turmeric" and messing up her sign. We stopped here on a family trip on our way back from Paso. My cousin loves this place and it did not disappoint. Because of C-19, I wouldn't recommend big groups. While it works, they have one table for a group of 6 but their other tables fit max 4 but ideally 2. The good news is that they don't require a reservation which is great! And as I was leaving, I noticed they have some deals during weekdays in case you're a local or live close enough to pop over. We absolutely loved the Merlot here. A case later, we were excited to take our treasure home! Oh and don't forget that they also sell and serve cider here. We bought a bottle of their pear cider which was light and easy on the palette. So sweet, very knowledgeable, clearly passionate about her wines. Check, check and check! 2) the wines. Yum. I've been to about 40 wineries over the past few years, and these absolutely stand out. The Pinot in particular is so interesting - and not too oaky. Perfect! 3) wireless. If you've ever been to Los Olivos, you'll know how precious this is. So much fun! Admittedly, this was near the end of our adventure in Los Olivos, so I was more than a little bit tipsy, but I don't think it was just the booze telling me that this is a place to watch closely. I've been to tasting rooms where I enjoyed everything, and I've been to tasting rooms where I've loved one or two, but this is the first tasting room where I've loved *everything*. They're big into more experimental stuff, which is great, cause so am I. Less common varietals, doing crazy things like carbonic maceration of grapes you don't usually see that done on, etc. They're even making a cider now, too (sadly wasn't ready to try yet). We showed up with a livingsocial voucher good for tasting and one bottle... we left with two bottles (their dessert wine and the slightly sweet malvasia), and I would've loved to buy more. I was even strongly tempted to join the wine club (I'm *never* tempted to join wine clubs), but thankfully, my designated-driver companion dissuaded me (I really do want to, we just already have more wine than we know what to do with. But it is still tempting.) Definitely coming back. Popcorn was fun too. read more

I chose this place because I wanted something a little different, change it up. And as the people working there will tell you, this place doesn't mind mixing it up or trying new things. The service is 5 stars without question. Very friendly, you can tell that they love what they're doing. Free popcorn. To make it fair the popcorn that day was, I think, spicy nacho cheese. I told the people working there that I think that flavor really messes with the taste buds because it most definitely didn't compliment any of the them. So with that note, it might have skewed my tasting. Tasting consisted of: Original Dry Cider, Rose Hard Apple Cider, Sparkling Riesling, Viognier, Mourvedre, Merlot and a Red Blend. The ciders were what I was most looking forward to, but I felt like they didn't have much flavor. They tasted almost like a Brut. I could see using the sparkling riesling to make a mimosa or belini for brunch, but otherwise, also not super exciting. The merlot was a nice mild red. My favorite was the red blend and that's what I went home with. read more

I normally love going to vineyards when on vacation, however this town is charming and this lounge was beyond great.
