I'm 62 and this was the best furniture buying experience of my life. I'm moving from a studio apartment to a 2-bedroom apartment and I needed a lot of furniture. Diane is a furniture wizard. She guided me to furniture in the store and in catalogs. She has a high-command of the many catalogs and can pull the exact catalog and go to the item you are explaining. Bottom line: friendly and helpful staff, great prices, great furniture. I've gotten simple stuff like bed frames in the past, but I came in recently to get two big plush chairs for my revamping of my home decor. They have a decent amount of stuff on display in their showroom, but they have a ton more at their warehouse. While it would be neat to see everything all in one place, I appreciate being able to visit the showroom just one block from my house, as opposed to driving to Thornton or whatever to visit one of those giant places. The staff is incredibly nice, patient and helpful. They have a great personal touch -- I came in a couple weeks after I first visited, and they remembered me. I described what I was looking for, and they busted out one of their giant books of chairs and found exactly what I was looking for. They even went way above and beyond helping get the chairs delivered to my house. I have been to the giant furniture places like that Jake Jabs one, but I can tell you the quality and selection Dream Merchant offers -- selection from stuff in their warehouse, that is -- is far superior. As a final note, Dream Merchant was at the exact same location when I moved to the neighborhood 32 years ago. They have been around right there even longer -- since 1969. That kind of longevity says a lot about a business. I fully endorse this place and plan to do business with them again. This store is a hidden gem. It's not super conspicuous from the street, but once you go inside- there are lots of stylish, well-made AND affordable options inside. The customer service was so far beyond what I have ever experienced at bigger furniture stores. Don't be fooled by the small footprint of the building or the odd location of Dream Merchant - they actually have a really large inventory kept at an offsite warehouse. And several large books to look through to see said inventory. I was here solely for bunk beds for my oldest two sons, but they have a big selection of furniture for all rooms - sofas, chairs, tables, etc. As for bunkbeds, they had a lot to choose from as well as a nice variety of mattresses to fit the beds. We opted for one they had in the warehouse as my boys are still learning the art of patience, meaning they have very little and wanted to be able to have their beds as soon as possible. It's a model that has a twin bed on top and a full on the bottom which I really like. Best of all, we ordered it on a Sunday and for a really small delivery fee (less than $100) they delivered it and set it up the next day (Monday.) The men who brought the bed were really nice and fast at setting it up. And nicest of all we had ordered a trundle, too that didn't come for another week. But, when it came they delivered it and set it up as well without charging us extra for the second trip. I really like the quality of our bed and I also liked the quality of their customer service. I will definitely keep them in mind for future furniture needs! read more

We bought two bed frames here on March 28th, with the explanation that one would be delivered from California and thus would take about 10 days. The salesperson was helpful and friendly during this transaction. 8 days later, we called to get an update and were informed that the manufacturer didn't actually have the king bed frame in stock and so it actually be another 10 days, so closer to 3 weeks after purchase. We called again today to be told that the manager won't be in until Saturday, which may or may not be the day that our bed frame comes in. Is there not a tracking number on the shipment? Has it actually been shipped yet?? The man on the phone (Brian?) was the most blasé, inhospitable person who offered absolutely no solutions or even suggestions. He even answered the phone "dream merchant" in a monotone voice, no "this is (Brian?)," it "How can I help you?". The last time my boyfriend called and talked to him, he asked "well, when do you need it?"! We've been sleeping with our mattress on the ground for three weeks now, so we need it! Apparently this store runs without an active manager and the salespeople can't make decisions, so Brian (?) is unable to help us get a refund so we can go buy bed frames at a store that actually has them in stock. To be clear, Dream Merchant has made zero effort to contact us with updates regarding our purchase and has let several of our calls go unreturned. The outside of this store is easy to miss! I actually almost walked right past it and I was specifically looking for it. First off, the pros: - This retailer offers a HUGE selection of furniture for some pretty awesome prices. They carry pieces across a variety of vendor lines (Ashley, Coastal, Furniture of America, etc). - The two women that were working that Sunday afternoon were very helpful and took the time to understand what I was looking for (a couch for a small apartment), helping me brainstorm different options/styles that would work for me. The cons: - The website is very difficult to maneuver and understand, until they explain it to you. Additionally, there is no price transparency online, so you have to call or come in to get information. - The space is very small so they don't have many pieces actually available to view in the store, which wasn't clear online. They have crammed this small space to display as many pieces of furniture as possible, but the majority of their pieces are in their warehouse somewhere. I was expecting a larger showroom where I could test out multiple couch options, and was a little disappointed with how limited the store selection was. Well my friend needed a new futon, so we tried this place out because of the quality reviews. We go there and buy one for a pretty decent price as far as quality furniture goes. The futon and mattress itself are just fine, but our experience was anything but. The box came without screws needed for the assembly, and upon calling them, they quickly sent over screws from the warehouse to the showroom. However, even after we said they didn't give us the right hardware, when we got back home to complete the assembly, they gave us too few of screws, so we just sent to Lowes to fix the problem ourselves because they clearly don't know what hardware needs to go to which set. read more

I rarely take time to write reviews but was VERY pleased with Dream Merchant. Their staff is not at all pushy; they were attentive when I had questions but backed off to just let us roam. Extremely professional. The inventory in their showroom is only the beginning; they have vendor books with thousands of choices there, and VERY quick delivery on items that they seem to warehouse elsewhere. Is this place a scam? I saw a couch I liked on CL, called to inquire about the manufacturer. Was told they have several people who make the couch I described (which I found super odd, doesn't one company make one design and another company make another design and so on?) They called back and then in fact only gave me one manufacturer but said they did not have the couch I was inquiring about on the display floor, despite the fact that they had put the ad up just days ago, so in fact, I could not come see the couch and test it out. The guy on the phone went on to tell me that they had a much nicer version, very comfortable and much nicer fabric than the one I was inquiring about, but of course more expensive. Uh-huh, good bait and switch old buddy. If you advertise something, you should have it available for people to shop and buy it. That's common sense and good business. read more

Let us look around, no pressure to buy, etc. In the end, they did not have a huge selection in their store, which I think could use improvement, but we did find a bed in a catalog. GREAT prices, and my bed was good quality. I knew what I was buying before I walked in, and the salesman kept up with my pace. I was not there to dilly dally. I wanted a bed, not to shop all day. Dream Merchant is a independent furniture store. They placed an ad on craigslist for a bed and I loved the picture. I called and got directions to their store. The showroom was small and the bed I wanted wasn't on display. However, the salesman was helpful, showing me the picture in a catalog and the color of the wood. I had seen the exact same bed on other sites online asking $700. Dream Merchant's price: $400. SOLD But I think, with a show room like that they could put a little more time into their website, there's no prices and only a few pictures. read more

I bought the greatest mattress from the Dream Merchant and now my back has finally stopped hurting. The memory foam mattress that the store manufactures is far superior to the Tempurpedic and more affordable. Unfortunately the mattress that I initially bought I had to trade in three months later for a regular mattress because it was not comfortable and hurting my back. Fast-forward three years and I have to buy another mattress because the firm in Sealy Posturepedic that I bought was really not firm at all and is pretty flimsy. Lesson learned. (i actually took a photo of the outside of the shop so i could post this review, but i guess furniture shops don't allow photo option like food joints?) What a craphole. outside, inside-- every side. you can barely make your way around all the piles of filthy furniture. it looks like a second-hand shop. the girl working there (mostly on the phone) told me that the items the owner posts on craigslist are not in the store. good to know, after i drove 20 miles to see a bed--a bed that has been listed every day on craigslist for at least 2 weeks. My girlfriend and I went here; and although the showroom is small, they have a ton of catalogs and are very helpful in helping you find something that fits your home and budget. Everything in the store is a floor model, and you can get a deal on those pieces. We had four different pieces delivered across town for just $50. Having moved recently, I decided that it was time for some new furniture. I wanted something in leather and shopped at just about every furniture outlet in the metro area. I had been to Dream Merchant before just to window shop and they always seemed pleasant enough. They are joy to work with. Les and his crew are pleasant, professional, customer focused and soooo patient. After a thousand questions, I ended up buying a leather couch, two ottomans and a chair that all match. At first I had bought two chairs, but when I got them into my apartment, I decided that two chairs were one too many and made the room look small. Les was more than willing to give me a store credit which I really appreciate. I ended up getting an end table which looks really good with the rest of my furniture. I liked the staff and merchandise at Dream Merchant so much, I ended buying a bed frame as well. I did not feel rushed or pressured to buy anything as it took me a good three visits to the store before I made up my mind on the leather furniture and bed. I love this store! I have known about the store for a long time. I purchased my very first futon from Les. That was back in 1987! Then a few years later I purchased my second bed from Les. When it came time to purchase a new couch, back to Dream Merchant I went, bought a couch chair and ottoman!! Well, apparently I wasn't quite finished, went back and bought a mattress! I am sure you can tell by now that I LOVE this store. There are 3 parts to my love, one, the quality of the furniture. Shopping for a living room set and got an incredible deal on a Bookcase Head Board for only $100. Very fine quality. It was on clearance because it was damaged in delivery to their warehouse (yes they do have a warehouse I went there to pick it up), but honestly any damage I'd hardly noticeable and it looks beautiful in my bedroom. Nightmare Merchant! Over Promised, Under Delivered, And They Don't Honor Warranties. Promised delivery on two separate occasions but No show No call. (Diane) Told by sales not to blame them for delivery drivers. Promised by the owner (Les) he'd deliver by certain date but nothing Owner promised he'd make it up but nothing. After delivery It gets worse! Sofa recliner and storage compartment misaligned but told it was my fault. Sofa frame cracked after 5 weeks but told it was my fault. Sofa lounger unusable and Warranty not honored after only 5 weeks? Multiple calls to them with nothing but runaround and silence. All they do is take your money. You can definitely do better. Ps..the response from Les is a joke. He called 15 minutes after he was supposedly going to show up but he did not show up. A 3rd no show! He's unwilling to come when I'm not at work. He won't answer direct questions on his return policy, warranty policy, or if I can get my money back for a sofa that broke 5 weeks after purchase. I wanted a futon to replace an old one, and found this place in my area; I bought a bed and the futon, and had that one for many years. I had to pay for it for almost a year, and that was no problem; they never pressured me to pay. When it was time for a real mattress, I of course went to Dream Merchant. I got a great deal on a firm mattress (first one I bought was too soft for my back) at a GREAT price, and am very happy with the purchase.
