Also I made this account to leave a review, hence no other reviews. I went to the salon the other day just to dye my hair one specific color (not intricate at all just a solid color on half my head) I showed the stylist a picture (of cherry red hair) and picked my own color (vibrant cherry red) I already have ginger hair so I didn't think it would be that much of a difference but I'm not a stylist so I don't know for sure. When my hair was done it was purple. A super vibrant purple, like almost no red at all (other than my natural color). I told her I wanted it to be red, like the photo and the sample, she said it was strange that it was so vibrant "violet" and I guess removed some of the color and added red (I'm not sure if that's what she did but she said she would try to fix it). By the time we had finished, 3 hours had passed and my hair was still purple. I called today and asked for the color used on my hair, looked it up and sure enough it was purple. (Side note: They just called again and I didn't pick up but they left a voicemail and said it was actually a DIFFERENT hair dye which is more of a maroon) I don't actually know which one they used but at first it was DEFINITELY vibrant dark purple so I doubt it was the maroon one, especially because my natural hair is ginger. I want to be clear and say everyone was so nice and sweet and I would definitely come back if it wasn't for an (I'm sure) miscommunication. I won't name the stylist's name either because she was so nice and meant well it's just not what I wanted.. at all and I paid quite a bit for the service. I hurried out of the salon as I had another commitment. I don't like to complain but this felt worthy as I want to avoid others from having the same experience as I did. Remember to communicate with your stylist and don't be a doormat! If something feels wrong, it is, advocate for your self.

There are several independent stylists within the same building and each have their own rooms. After leaving another stylists room with botched hair & in tears after being called a thief, I walked to the next open door I found. The girls saw my hair and were kind enough to take me from stylist to stylist to see if someone had time to fix the color job. Christi saved the day. She had a small window before her next scheduled client and fit me in right then. She reviewed the picture of what I wanted my hair to look like and got to fixing it as best she could. She was so kind and patient and let me vent the whole time about how terrible the other stylist was. My hair color turned out better than I could have hoped for. Christi is everything you'd want in a stylist and I cannot recommend her enough. ***Bellow is the google review I posted for Rey Leal. The guy who jacked up my hair*** (I had a terrible experience w/Rey Leal. See picture below. Went in w/pict's of color & cut I wanted. He referenced color picture twice during coloring process. However, final result looked like bad store bought highlights kit. Abrupt yellow & brassy streaks, no blending to soften where new color met natural color. Rey initially denied anything was wrong saying it would look better in 2 weeks. He eventually conceded the color & technique was nothing like the picture. I asked he fix it but he said he was about to go home so he'd fix it next week.?!?! He wouldn't even put a toner in it. I live in NYC & couldn't come back. He became pissy (it upset him greatly when I said it looked like a store bought job) & said he'd refund me while saying, "You know, there's people out there who do stuff like this. Go place to place to get what they want." I was blown away bc I had 6 inches of new growth, was VERY clear about what I wanted my hair to look like & it looked NOTHING like the picture. I did not even want my money back, I just wanted my hair done the right way. My hair looked horrible AND he was accusing me of being a thief. ?!?! Then he said he couldn't return my money right then bc he didn't have the phone number but he'd do it tmrw. I was ok w/that but I wanted it in writing. He flipped out again and said, "I don't even have to give you your money back bc I did the job. And now you're getting a free hair cut too and there's people who go from salon to salon to cheat & do this." I said to deduct the cost of the hair cut & stop accusing me of being some type of thief. The entire situation was insane bc there was no denying my hair looked like trash. Initially, I wasn't even upset that the job looked terrible, I just wanted it fixed. Rather than offer to fix it, he instead reacted with emotion and repeatedly insulted my character. He actually made me cry. !! Not bc he jacked up my hair but bc he called me a thief and a cheat. I left and walked a FEW FEET to the first open salon door I found and asked for their opinion on my hair. They both said it looked really bad. The girls were helpful and we walked from salon to salon (within the same building) trying to find someone to fix it. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the stylists we talked to agreed my hair was a train wreck. Finally, Christi was available to help me. She not only fixed my hair color, she fixed the cut because apparently that was botched too. I can't speak lowly enough about Rey, his color skills, his stylist skill and his awful attitude & personality. Christi (Salon Christi), on the other hand, was a miracle worker. I just…read moremoved to the area when I Google "salons/top stylists in my area"..., which in hindsight she clearly paid Google to list her as the first5-10 results (tons of small business do this, don't trust it, they pay for this its not based off any truths/facts OR REAL reviews, as stylists also bribe their clients into doing, and lots of these so called " professionals" also make various fake accounts across any/all social media platform they have their business listed on in order to leave FAKE good reviews, something my old stylist enlightened me about) anyway she said she was a "color specialist" but obviously that was a lie. I've been getting my hair colored platinum blonde for over four decades and have never had my hair fried, break, fall OUT IN CLUMPS, or ever had a hairdresser say that my ORANGE results were "normal / necessary" middle ground to achieve my desired results. It seems she was in a rush and had an rude attitude the entire time I was there (our first time meeting so this was not smart on her end as this is my first impression of her and isn't the point to keep clients ? But I digress ) AND I was in so much pain on my scalp during the prkcess and whem i mentioned this she said that the feeling of my scalp burning was normal) and after going home and a week of my fried hair falling out in clumps every time i showered / simply brushed it, i went to my doctor who said she had caused chemical burns on my scalp by applying the bleach straight on it, especially when that shouldn't happen on my virgin new growth. (What my original hairdresser said when I told her what happened... I called her cause I didn't know if what I was being told by melisa was true or not). Anyway, im a small business owner myself and I don't ever leave reviews, much less negative ones because I know how much I we rely on HAPPY customers reviews, so it took a lot for me to share my horrible experience as I wouldn't unless I was genuinely concerned for any future clients that may be contemplating going to her. Please! Don't! She is rude and rushes through the service cause clearly she only cares about money and getting as !any clients in as possible so she cuts corners and rushes and make me feel super uncomfortable and unwanted...idk about hair so calling my old hairdresser about this to make sure I wasn't overreacting or right to leave this review, and learned that melisa shouldn't have used bleach on my roots and my original stylist never did, she said it's "virgin" hair at the roots and she used regular color and "20 volumes developer" on my color for the 35 years I've been going to her, which proves she cut corners to speed up the process to get me out asap in order to get another client in ,which I know now looking back is exactly what happens cause a woman came in while melisa was not in the room while the color (bleach on my scalp and put me under a dryer??) And asked where she was cause she had an appt at that time and wondered why I was already there with color on my head). Clearly she only cares about money and not working with dignity to keep her customers hairs healthy. I could go on about everything else that made the entire experience uncomfortable and horrible but I'm not here to bash this woman personally as I don't know maybe she was just having an odd day or bad day but still thats no excuse imo. Just wanted to warn anyone else, in case they are thinking about booking with her or have booked with her and had similar experience , these things aren't normal and they were confirmed not only by my doctor treating my nearly bald chemically burned scalp that I had to shell out over 2k (on top of this woman STILL charging me full price for the service she ruined my hair with! 200$!!) to buy a wig I now have to wear to cover my burns/bald spots) But also confirmed by my original stylist back in my home state of California where clearly the beauty schools are much better and train and educate stylists to work with quality over quantity in mind. I showed up for my daughter's scheduled appointment and the stylist canceled on me on the spot when I arrived at her home. Long story short, I was beyond disappointed and still wanted to attempt to get my daughters hair braided. Thankfully, I was given this salons number by the personal trainer and took a chance at booking a same day appointment. By the grace of God, Joyez Salon had an appointment so I took it. We met Crystal White and she did an amazing job oh my daughters hair. She did 2 Dutch braids with the mermaid hair we had purchased for her braids. So loving and professional and very kind! Fast forward 5 months and we book a curly cut with Crystal...beyond happy with the service and the outcome!! The whole salon is so welcoming and inviting and they really do care about their clientele! My baby is happy with her hair and I know we have a salon home to go to for all her hair services!
