I started with the free-range eggs with mayo, and my wife started with the leeks with vinaigrette. The eggs were delicious, but the leeks may have been the best preparation I've ever had in my life. For our main courses, she had the egg muffin, and I had the sausage and mash. Our meal was superb. Whoever is in the kitchen has clearly learned the art of French cuisine well. Service was fantastic, the people-watching (we ate al fresco) was fantastic, and I simply couldn't think of a way to make this a better meal.

Luca was my server and he was very welcoming in hospitable to this weary traveler. I sat on the patio towards the end of the row so I could take in the atmosphere and people watch a bit. Luca Recommended a meal with a mashed potatoes and sausage with French bread and salad and it sounded tasty so I gave it a go! All the flavors went well together; mashed potatoes were well seasoned the sausage had a good flavor, and the salad with the vinaigrette added a crunch in an extra flavor as well. I drank a French hard cider while I gobbled up my meal, which also was new for me and tasted great after I was done my meal. Luke brought me a shot with rum and some other ingredients, including lemon that definitely hit the spot after a good meal.I recommend Brasserie Belanger for anyone near GDN Train Station that enjoys great food and patio dining. Cheers!

There were also tables outside but not many. The ambiance is good. The music is a bit loud for the amount of people that were dining in. The atmosphere is quite romantic with the dimmed lighting and the candles but the music does not set that tone whatsoever. Props to our server for bringing us extra plates when we mentioned we would be sharing the appetizer. Beef bourguignon with mashed potatoes (5/5): the portions were worth it for the price. They were quite sizable. When I was cutting, I could tell the beef was so tender. The meat was marinated very well and deep into it. Tap to pay is accepted. Overall, La Cave Gourmande is a small cute restaurant for some delicious french food. I highly recommend their beef bourguignon.

As an American, you must get used to the slow pace that most restaurants run here. But, I've taken a sincere liking to slowing down and enjoying my food rather than eating 'on the go.' Order the beef bourguignon. It is amazing. Comes in a steaming pot with buttery mashed potatoes. Also tried the foie gras, escargots, and frog legs. Haven't had a dish that wasn't up to par. This place deserves more attention. A must visit if you're in the area.

Making a reservation isn't hard but you do need to email them and there's no online booking system. You also have to confirm again 1-2 days before. I understand they are small with a limited number of tables so that's fair and it seemed like everyone showed up even though they don't require a deposit. On a Friday night, it didn't appear there was much chance or walking in although there were like 2 open seats at what would have been a shared table. The menu is small and includes some typical French starters, steaks, 3 non steak entrees, cheeses, and dessert. All steaks come with potatoes, 3 sauces, salad. Service was a highlight. The waiter was personable and funny, had solid recommendations, and made sure leftovers were taken home. Also had a solid wine recommendation after asking some questions. They probably get a lot of people who don't speak French and they had no problem speaking English. The food- ordered a ribeye medium rare. The steak was so so charred on the outside and it almost ruined the whole thing. I really wish they would have charred it way less especially when it was ordered medium rare. There is seared and then there is burnt; this was sadly the latter. The steak itself was fine, honestly nowhere near the best meat I have had but the price is quite reasonable for how much you get. I would say the steak was maybe 6/10 for me, largely due to the cooking. The fries were phenomenal. Definitely a highlight and really tasty and with a great texture. Salad was good, pretty typical. I wanted to like the sauces more but found them just okay. The best by far for me was the blue cheese sauce but even this one I thought the flavors could have popped a little more. Atmosphere was fun, there were a few bigger groups (6-8 which is the biggest they accommodate) but it never got unreasonably loud. Overall I wanted to love it but was a bit disappointed even though the service and fries were both great.

Food: Of the things we ordered, I tried the: - Frog Legs - Puff pastry with snails - Duck breast - Ribeye steak - Chicken stuffed with foie gras - Creme brulee - Chocolate delight Everything was unbelievably good. The food was clearly homemade with care, and prepared with fresh ingredients. One thing I appreciated was that the food was not oily or greasy. I dream of the duck, frog legs, creme brulee, and chocolate delight - this was the best duck and creme brulee I have ever had. The duck and steak came with AMAZING potato wedges, which may be my favorite part of the meal. Service: this restaurant is a small family restaurant, owned by a father who cooks. His daughter managed the front of the restaurant when I dined here. She was incredibly friendly, spoke both French and English, and provided wonderful recommendations. Environment: This restaurant is exactly what I think of as a cozy Parisian cafe. It is located in a corner next to a long flight of stairs, and has approximately 10 tables. The restaurant is decorated so that is feels inviting and warm, but not small.

We were so looking forward to the frog legs, onion soup and other delicacies pictured. We got there and the sign was just as it was with the same name -- Au Pied du Sacre Coeur. We should've noticed something was wrong when no one was inside. When the waiter (lone person working along with cook) gave us the menu, my wife and I stared at each other completely confused. The menu looked nothing like the ones on this website and featured Italian food items, like spaghetti, arroz con pollo or mozarella. I asked him about frog legs or the onion soup. He looked confused and just said no. Out of respect for him, we just ordered the charcuterie, which featured stale bread and a few slices of meat taken from my local grocery store in the U.S. Also -- they claimed to not accept any international credit cards. WHAT HAPPENED? Are all these reviews fake? Most likely, they underwent new ownership right when we visited. But new visitors -- please beware. Do not trust any of the reviews before mine. If I was mistaken, please post photos and just tell me that I was part of some elaborate joke to ruin a lunch for me and my wife.
