I never thought I'd be a bride who was so attached to their dress! I absolutely love the alterations that Andrea did. My dress is the before and after example in the photos above. I didn't purchase my dress at Drea K, but I went to her for alterations because I wanted someone who could go above and beyond basic alterations. As you can see, there was a lot that needed to be done for the dress to be more flattering. Dora and Andrea have some of the best customer service I have ever received! They were extremely accommodating with my insane schedule. They were honest and upfront about the total cost of alterations. This place is NOT cheap, but it IS worth it. This is not an alterations studio, she is a designer and dressmaker and has an amazing eye for how things should fit the female body. This is exactly what I was looking for. Drea K provided me with the confidence and beauty that every bride deserves on their wedding day! I felt amazing and beautiful on my wedding day. My husband was shocked at how fancy my dress was! Review for alterations consult only! I came in for an alterations consult on my wedding dress the other day. The shop is VERY cute, very professional, and has tons of dresses to choose from. I did not buy my dress from here, so this is related to only alterations. The gal that helped me was very kind and knowledgeable. It was a great experience, but the pricing was out of this world. I've gotten 2 other quotes for my gown at $350-$400, and they quoted me $1150 which is well over what I even paid for the dress. I'm not suggesting that they don't know what they are doing or are not skilled or that their time is not worth payment, simply that I think it is way overpriced in comparison to other alterations places. They definitely know what they are doing and am 100% confident my dress would be perfect if I chose them, just be prepared for sticker shock if you go here first. read more

Hmmm, so it's hard to give a review that's not 5 star worthy considering the amount of 5 star reviews on here. I actually had been really looking forward to my trip to Drea K, because of all the awesome reviews on here... Dora who I met on the day, really is a lovely person, and seems to have a very good eye for what would suit you. I really did want a dress designed by Drea K, but once I heard the total cost a dress would potentially cost to be made at Drea K - I was so disappointed. I think the lack of dresses that are provided in store doesn't particularly help, because it was hard for me to envision what a dress would look like given the little choice. I was looking for something with lace style and truly expected something like this in their store, but there wasn't anything there. Drea K came to my rescue after an Orange County, CA bridal salon's alterations department screwed my wedding dress up!! My finance and I were having a destination wedding in Kirkland (my hometown), but with a dress that was less than spectacular, I was stressed and a little more than hesitant to have someone else's hands on my dress. A few weeks before the big day, I shipped my dress up to my mom who met with Dora. Dora called me the same day and went through all the issues with the dress and reassured me that Andrea was going to be able to fix my beautiful dress. When I arrived in Kirkland, three days before the wedding, I went to meet Dora to take a look at my dress, it was perfect!!! I was able to fall in love with my dress all over again thanks to Dreak K. Not only were their alterations abilities impeccable, but their customer service is 110%!! Every bride deserves to have that special treatment when looking for their dress and Drea K delivers. I had a mixed experience at Drea K. However there are so many strong reviews, my guess is that my experience was unique, and an unusual occurrence. My advice- give them a try, but just be sure to express concerns immediately (if you have any). Dora's and Andrea's dedication to customer satisfaction is extremely high, so if you are concerned about the workmanship, let her know right away and I am certain she will do whatever is necessary to rectify the situation. Long story short, the actual work on my maid-of-honor dress was not fantastic. Although in the end, the fit was close, it took 7 fittings, and quite a bit of angst, as well as a lot of personal attention by Andrea to rectify the situation. However, that said, Andrea's incredible customer service to do everything she possibly could to make me a happy client was very much appreciated. She really went above and beyond and tried to rectify a bad situation (after I had written a negative review on yelp). I could tell that her personal ethics dictated that she really try everything she possibly could to fix both my opinion of the shop, as well as the work. I know that sometimes, mistakes happen and what is truly important is how it is handled. Andrea certainly tried her very best and did the maximum she could have to repair the situation. The actual sewing itself (aside from the fact that they could not get the fit right) was quite good. You cannot see the seams nor notice the fact that the dress was likely taken apart several times to accommodate the multiple attempts at fitting it properly. So, I have absolutely nothing to complain about with regard to the actual sewing part of the work. In the end, the dress that had started out way too big was still too tight. However, although it was quite snug, by the 7th fitting, it was wearable. In fact I actually received several compliments on the dress at the wedding. So, I guess it was all worthwhile!!! To recap... The Good - Andrea's attention to customer satisfaction was stellar, resulting in a snug, but finally close to fitting, well-stitched dress. She clearly cares deeply about her business & her customers. Also, Dora (from the shop) was very sweet. The Bad - It was a huge waste of my time to have to go into the shop 4x as well as have 3 additional fittings in my hotel room where Andrea came to fix the problem. The Ugly - I was very turned off by the good-natured but inappropriate soft-evangelism that I experienced. After revealing that I was Jewish during a conversation at fitting #5 or 6, I was given a gift along with my dress: a booklet of devotionals "Our Daily Bread" as well as some green tea. In an email sent to me a week later, the daily reading was mentioned, as was Jesus' name. My advice: Don't mix business and religion. You'll lose customers, even if your gift is well-intentioned. I know Andrea is a very nice lady who only has my best interest at heart. However, it wasn't appropriate. Do give them a try. There are enough very strong reviews, coupled with my excellent experience with Andrea's customer service to make the dress wearable, that I'd suggest giving them a shot. Just be clear on what works for you and what doesn't... and don't talk religion... read more

If you're shopping for a wedding dress in the Seattle/Kirkland area, you really should not miss this store. I was told by someone that they sell very few dresses and that their thing is more alterations - it's true that they only had one wall worth of dresses. HOWEVER - I loved almost all of them, lol. This could be my own personal taste, but I felt like their dresses were all very classy and well-made. (though not TOO expensive). They really excel at custom made dresses so you can try on what they have and then say "I really like this top but this skirt, and can the neckline be sweetheart instead of halter?" If what you're asking for is crazy, also, they will tell you THAT too. It's clear that they really care about their brides and want you looking fabulous. My favorite thing about Drea K is Dora. She was wonderful, supportive, and treated me and my family with so much kindness and respect. I actually ended up buying my dress there even though I live in Los Angeles and am getting married down here. I haven't met Andrea yet, but look forward to doing so when I am up there again for my first fitting (I do like having excuses to go to Seattle). These guys are GREAT. Don't pass them by! read more

I picked up my dress today. WOW! I am so ready to walk down the aisle in my beautifully altered dress. I highly recommend Drea K for bridal alterations. (I didn't buy my dress at Drea K, I just had it altered there) From the beginning Dora was so sweet, over the phone and email, asking about my needs and wants for the dress. When I finally met her in person on my initial visit (fitting with a quote to follow) I felt at ease and worry-free. The shop is quaint and comfortable and I knew I didn't want to go elsewhere. Within 2 days of my visit Dora emailed me with a detailed list of my requested alterations; all itemized. It was great. My final fitting was today... I got to see the finished product and meet Andrea the seamstress. Dora and Andrea made it such a great experience. I was looking for a party gown for a company Christmas party and the time for the party got closer and closer to a point that even if I got the dress online, I might not have made it to have it altered for the party. I had 9 days left and then I came across Drea K. I went to the store and I was first welcomed by Dora. She was very friendly and helpful. She was able to get the dress I like from the catalogue she showed me in 2 days!!! The dress was stunning; however, it needed some alterations here and there. I had several alternations done at Drea K Designs for my wedding dress, with having off-shoulder straps and a bustle added, the zipper reinforced, and the dress seams adjusted to make it more form fitting. It was absolutely stunning with the quality and detail that went into the work by Andrea and her staff, especially for the scalloped shoulder straps and the back design for it! I decided to try Drea K because of yelp reviews and I couldn't be happier I did! Thank you to all of you who reviewed and helped me find someone who does outstanding alterations. I just did my mid fitting today and had to write a review about Drea K! I bought the dress elsewhere and had the alterations done by Andrea (although they have beautiful dresses, I didn't know about this place until after I bought my dress). The dress fit like it was made for my body! Before coming to Drea K I had brought my dress to another seamstress who told me that the alterations I wanted would be nearly impossible and that the fabric of my dress was too detailed ( a lot of lace) to be form fitting. I also had a major change that I wanted to do which would meant removing a tulle overlay so the dress style could change from the ceremony to the reception. When I came to Drea K I was feeling discouraged but after putting the dress on for Dora and speaking with her she put me at ease immediately. She knew that Andrea was incredibly talented and could do the work I wanted. After meeting Andrea I realized that she had an incredible attention to detail which makes her work impeccable! I had my bridesmaid's dress altered here. She was altering the brides dress and I knew she was an A-type personality who takes her work very seriously and will not give something back until it is PERFECT! I had only gotten home a few days before and this was the first time I tried on the dress, finding that it was too large in the bust and waist. I only had 2 days before I was driving down to the wedding and she took it and did it in one day! I was so happy and grateful. She really cares about her customers and is a joy to work with. Dora was an absolute dream to work with. Thanks so much to Andrea and Dora for making my dress look and fit perfectly for my special day. Be prepared to pay 2-3x more than an average alteration, but also know that the work and customer experience is worth every penny. My dress is a very detailed ballgown style gown and has several layers with lace and detail. I paid almost $1,000 for all of my alterations (waist and bust taken in, bustle detail, hem, push-up cups sewn into the foundation). I felt truly beautiful and comfortable working with Dora and I would recommend Drea K to any bride-to-be that wants her dress to be perfect and fit only her body. read more

I had my wedding dress and my reception dress both altered here. I worked directly with Dora and Drea did the alterations behind the scenes. Overall I had a wonderful experience and do recommend going there for your dresses. Dora was very friendly. She was very kind and patient with all my questions (and I had a lot) - even questions NOT about the dress, such as hair, makeup, shoes etc. I even emailed her many times when questions came up. She is very knowledgeable and will give you good advice re: wedding attire. They are very accommodating with your needs too. For example, I didn't bring in my reception dress till 4 weeks before I have to leave town for the wedding. And they rushed my alteration for me so I got my dress in less than 2 days! DREA K is the BEST BEST BEST as you know. I am sad that there are only five stars. I can give them like more than hundreds. I just got married on May, 2012. I had been really stressed out planning wedding by myself, working almost full time, and going to school as a full time student. Since my parents live in my country and my fiance (at that time) lives in different states, I was the only one planning and preparing my wedding. Andrea and Dora knew that I was planning by myself. I went to Drea K alone most of time. They always welcomed me and took care of me so much, so I did not feel lonely at all when I went there by myself.They really really really cared about me. I could really feel that they cared about me and my wedding. This was the only place I can feel they really work for me and pray for my future. With their warm heart, I did not have to go to other wedding dress shops to try on other dresses. Drea K was the first shop I went to and my wedding dress that I wore for my wedding was my first wedding dress that I tried on. It was PERFECT wedding dress for me! I love love love my wedding dress and even after alteration. It fit perfect on me after alterations. Of course, Andrea did the alteration. While preparing my wedding, some of my friends advised me that I have to check if my wedding dress is ready or not. BUT I told that I don't have to. Wedding dress is the only thing that I don't have to worry about. Andrea and Dora took care of everything. As you guys know, the frustrating part during wedding preparation, some vendors are really bad at returning phone calls and replying email, etc. BUT I did not have to worry about this with Drea K. Dora always emailed me back in few days. They are really good communicators. I really really appreciated thier hard works for my dream wedding and also their warm heart. When I viewed the dresses on display as I walked by the window of Drea K, I knew I could not cheat myself by selecting a wedding dress without visiting this store first. I made an appointment with Dora who is always so pleasant to speak with, and they made their hours work with my late schedule. At the appointment, I fell in love with a few of their custom designed gowns and chose one so unique that even a few strangers on my wedding day stated it was the most beautiful dress they had ever seen. There is a decent variety of styles to choose from and if you would like to make a few changes, suggestions are welcomed by Andrea. The way the store is laid out is perfect: there is only one fitting at a time so you have your own mirror/pedestal and never run the risk of waiting to try on the same dress. This venue is the ideal setting if you wish to bring along your friends and family to look at gowns. What really made the experience most enjoyable was the attentiveness and concern shown by Dora and Andrea. They offered advice and referred services for all of my wedding questions & concerns. On top of great service, I was shocked by the affordability of my dress. Other dresses I had tried on from other venues, which had a generic feel to them, were at least $500 more. The fact that these gowns are custom designed, with the ability to suggest design changes, and the incredible service both Dora and Andrea provide, make this place a MUST to try out. It is really hard to imagine my wedding day being as perfect as it was without 1.) my perfect dress and 2.) knowing I made the right purchase from the right business that really cares about their clients. read more

I had an awesome experience with Dora at Drea K. I wasn't aware that wedding dress alterations take a while so went to Drea K with only a month and half to my wedding. They worked with me to get my altered dress back to me at the earliest. Dora was awesome to work with and listened to me. She was easy to talk to and gave me continuous updates. I also went back when my sister got here and she showed her how the bustle and dress needed to be tied. I would return here for any alteration needs I may have. I was extremely disappointed with my visit to Drea K. I purchased a sample dress and was recommended to Drea K for alterations. The shop was beautiful and I was very excited to talk to Dora regarding my dress. Three separate times she mentioned to me how expensive their shop is. The first time she said, "Are you aware the we are the most expensive in town?" referring to alterations. I told her I was recommended to them and I was willing to pay more to have the alterations done correctly. After the second comment about their pricing I asked, "Is it that it is too much work and you do not want to do it?". I would have completely understood if the answer were yes, but again for a third time she mentioned that the shop was expensive and maybe I should go else where to get quotes. She kept the dress to show the designer and was going to e-mail me the quote the next day. I got about three blocks from the store, turned around, picked up my dress and asked that they not bother sending me a quote. Apparently, me and my sample dress did not fit in at Drea K. PS The sample cost around $3,000 so in my option (which apparently is a cheap one) it was not an inexpensive dress. read more

I was married last October and have been meaning to write this review since shortly before that. I contacted the shop via their website and left an email on the form letter provided under "contact us." I didn't really expect much because I had waited until a little over a month before I needed it and my dress needed significant alterations and to be taken in several sizes. Lo and behold I received a reply very quickly and it was positive and encouraged me to come in for a consultation asap. To make this easy here is how it went: 7/26, sent email, 7/30 went in for consultation and left dress for altering. 8/1, emailed that my dress was ready for pickup. 8/3, picked up totally transformed dress. It was like MAGIC. They never made me feel bad for coming to them so late in the game, they took my drastic alteration needs without a blink of an eye, and made it happen SO fast! The woman that I interacted with, Dora, was seriously one of the very sweetest, most lovely people I have ever met. She is just a doll and really made the whole experience meaningful for me and able to say, without hesitation, that should you need any project, small or big, late or early, easy or intricate.....GO HERE. I called Drea K's needing an alteration to a gown I ordered online for my vow renewals and needing it quick. Dora was amazing to work with and super friendly! I had such a wonderful experience at Drea K. My dress needed a lot of work and I was warned during my first consultation that it may end up costing me more than what I paid for the dress. I loved my dress and knew I would rather pay the money for a real tailor than going to a random dry cleaner/alterations shop or a second-rate store with cheesy dresses in the window, especially after hearing so many horror stories from friends and family. While the alterations themselves did not end up amounting to more than my dress, adding in a custom train made from the lace of my mother's wedding gown did tip the price over. However, I would not have received such a beautifully crafted customized piece for my dress had I gone anywhere else. My dress transformed from a lovely lace dress to a one-of-a-kind sexy, yet classy gown. The final product is more beautiful than I imagined and I am so very excited to wear it on my wedding day. Not only was Andrea's work above par, the customer service was exceptional. Dora and Andrea were such a pleasure to work with and wow did they deliver!!! I LOVE my wedding dress. I brought it to them and wanted it hemmed between my ankle and knee so it would be easy to dance in (and to show off my awesome shoes) and they did such a beautiful job. My husband loved the dress too, and he loved that we could swing dance without stepping on the dress! In addition to my dress, Dora went above and beyond for my Mom. See, my Mom did NOT have a traditional wedding, she got married at her home, planned the wedding in a few hours and put on a nice suit for the ceremony. She still had the suit but it no longer fit her. I thought it would be special for her to wear the suit for my wedding but she thought it would be impossible because there was not much fabric to let the suit out. But we took it to Dora and she made it work and found matching fabric! My Mom looked beautiful and it was so meaningful having her wear the suit, almost like a good luck charm since my parents have been happily married for 28 years. read more

I went to Drea K for alterations on a wedding dress that was worn by my two older sisters. The dress was very sentimental to me but I had envisioned a few design changes and alterations to truly make it my own. After my first meeting with Dora, I was encouraged to shop around to compare prices. It didn't take long for me to realize that at Drea K I would pay a little more to receive quality alterations and excellent customer service. Dora was so sweet and attentive during every meeting, phone call, and e-mail. Andrea, the designer is incredibly talented and understands how wedding dresses should fit a woman's body. I felt so confident leaving my dress with Drea K while I continued wedding planning. For the mid-fitting, I got to see the beautiful work that had been done to my dress. It was everything I had imagined and more. The design changes that I requested for the neckline were beautiful and the dress fit like a glove! For the final fitting, I brought my sisters who were just blown away with the design and fit. I truly felt beautiful like every bride should on their wedding day.
