I had the huevos rancheros. Its not the usual dish that was made the same way. The cafe had jams and pies to sell. Then i went outside to check out the backyard. It was such a lovely and impressive outdoor space with water falls, wine vineyards, chickens, playgrounds, ponds, flowers and bathrooms. Then the wine tasting had an array of bottles. I tried a variety of flavors such as: - 2025 Michael David Rosé (top favorite) - 2023 Inkblot Cabernet Franc - 2023 Red Freakshow Red Wine - 2024 Earthquake Zinfandel - 2022 Zinfandel Lust (top favorite) Ashley served a good handful of individuals, including myself. She was truly so knowledgeable about the wines and super hospitable as well. I appreciated her warm, amiable disposition. It truly made one of the greatest highlights during this visit. I decided to explore around the property. It was beyond gorgeous with beautiful decorations, blooming plants, water fountains + ponds, and so much more. The space was so inviting, it was a great atmosphere, especially for a date or to hang out with friends. Overall, I was amazed by the tasty, house-made wines and dazzling ambiance. The grounds, buildings and tasting room are beautiful, a sophisticated rustic cabin appeal with manicured landscaping and a craftsman style main building. We stood at the main tasting bar to try four wines. The Chardonnay and especially fhe old vine Zinfandel stood out as excellent to us and we ended up getting some bottles. As there weren't many folks doing a tasting on a weekday we got VIP treatment and had a deljghtful conversation, and education about the wines, from the person pouring for us. We really enjoyed our stay and the surroundings made it extra nice. Compared to the hype of Napa and Sonoma this winery and others in the Lodi area are down to earth and affordable in comparison, especially for tastings. This place very much is worth a visit. We were quickly greeted by the friendly female hostess who offered us either indoor or outdoor seating. We chose to sit indoors to enjoy our tastings of both whites & reds . Normally I prefer reds however in the summer I enjoy a crisp Sauvangion Blanc or even a nice Rose. If you purchase a bottle your tasting fee is waived which is always a great deal. We enjoyed ourselves so much we returned for the Alpine Block party event which included tastings at Stonum Vineyards and two other nearby wineries. This fun filled evening included live music, food trucks, and the Lodi Wine trolley shuttling you back & forth between the wineries. Definitely a good time! We found out about Van Ruiten while attending the 2026 Lodi Grape Festival. The owner was so friendly and was pouring their new Sparkling Rose and Blanc De Blanc. When we arrived at the winery, they had a good amount of people inside and outside but there was still plenty of seating for either option. The interior is lovely with a beautiful scenic painting on the left wall. They sell cute Knickknacks for your home as well. We ordered a bottle of the sparkling Rose and set out on the patio to enjoy some bubbles under the shade. I love the way they have the vines growing above you in the patio area, it was so beautiful. There was a family having a picnic, so it appears to be perfect for large groups as well. Overall It was a nice experience and will for sure be back again. Would love to see them add a brut to the collection and maybe offer a sparkling wine tasting flight as they only offer a still wine tasting currently.
