I was very pleased with the service I received at Draper Mortuary. My mother passed away on a Tuesday and we held the services eight days later on the following Wednesday. Everyone I interacted with was kind and professional. They were prepared when I came in to discuss the services my mother had pre-arranged 23 years ago. This did make it easier and I was impressed at how quickly they were able to produce a copy of her plan. There were many additional options I could have chosen but I never felt pressured to buy anything additional. There were some things I needed to pay for, but the cost was reasonable to me. The day of the service we were assigned two people to help facilitate. They were both professional and most importantly, helpful. The main chapel room was beautiful. My mother's casket was placed at the center and a tiered table was set up to the right for items we had brought to display. Three large screen TVs displayed the picture we used for her obituary. I was impressed with the whole set up particularly because it was not something I had even considered in my grief. Lastly, the assistance they provided in writing her obituary was such a relief. They took information I provided and sent me a well written draft. It needed very little editing and was quickly ready and posted to their website. Nice chapel with catholic church style pews, complete with knee pads. 3 big screen monitors for viewing the memorial slide show were a nice touch. First of all, our first meeting they tried showing us the most expensive casket available, Second of all they would not allow us to see our departed after embalming. The staff was not attentive to the obituary and made several mistakes that we had to continue to ask for corrections. They were not helpful in scheduling the service to help accommodate our needs for family coming from out of town even though we stressed the importance of the timing. They didn't seem to be very caring. This was very stressful. When you ask them to contact you back they never did. At the home going service they placed the flowers which immediately fell and they never picked them up. They had poor customer service and were not very compassionate toward us during this sad time. My aunt had her sons viewing here and it was amazing. It was nicely coordinated and allowed the setup of my baby cousins table with his personal items to share with the family. They shared the videos and pictures of him and it was truly wonderful to see it all. We were able to put him to rest after. We also had a reception and that was also put together nicely. My mom passed away on April 3rd of this year. She was on hospice and died in her home surrounded by loved ones. Draper sent 2 young ladies and a van to transport my mother to the mortuary. These girls were gentle, kind, and respectful. They waited until we were ready and took care to protect my mother's dignity as they placed her on the gurney and moved her to the van. As we walked on either side of them, they asked us what type of music my mom liked. We told them she love ABBA, particularly the song "Dancing Queen." After they made sure she was secure, they got in and one of them looked up the song on her phone. I cant tell you how bittersweet it was to hear those piano notes blasting through the stillness of that moment. It brought a smile to all of our lips even as tears flowed freely down our cheeks. Those 2 kind, beautiful, young souls will never know how often I think of that moment. It gave me a small silver lining to the worst day of my life and in the dark moments that followed it gave me something to think about and cling to when I miss her. I've asked God to bless those 2 young girls many times since then and I apologize for not writing this review sooner. Thank you Draper and thank you to those 2 amazing girls. read more

They made our very awful situation so much better and much more manageable. They were kind and compassionate. Draper took care of everything! Arranging for my dad's transportation from the hospital to Draper, then from Draper to the funeral home on the East Coast. Summer and Alyssa communicated with the other funeral home so well too. Soiled clothes (during death) were returned after my family member was asked 3x if she wanted them back and she told them no. they still returned the clothes in a biohazard bag. it was traumatizing to the family. I've been debating this review for a month n feel it's going to eat at me if I don't say something and after reading some of the other reviews I feel I need to say my part. I feel if u have no care or concern this isn't the job for u , you can't have a re due u can't make It better it's a one time shot and I felt when I called the first time at the end of January this was the place I felt most comfortable with with handling the sudden loss of my MOM . (Being an only child in a separate state I was handling this matter alone and in shock as well as trying to tend to my 93 ye old grandmother who lived with my mom) 1st id like to say I never got the chance to met my coordinator not once after the 3x flying to California from Texas I'd also like to say I understand the craziness Covid has casused and the overwhelming amount of people needing a service. All seemed to be ok after the Initial phone call when they said they would be able to pick my mom in three -four weeks and I was ok with this and then come to find out they were able to pick her up sooner (unfortunately not informing me which is ok but I would of liked to know my loved one wasn't still in a hospital and now is in care) - after me calling week 3 and Finding out they were able to pick up my mom earlier I was told that I would be able to get a fingerprint as well as a lock of hair. As well as be able to pick out her outfit for the cremation. after the payment went through it seemed as if I was just another number an my mom was just another body. - I was told that I would be able to pick out the clothes that my mother will wear for the cremation thinking that I would be able to see her in those clothes at the viewing unfortunately that was misunderstood on either my part or the coordinators part but I did not get to see my mother in the clothes I had picked out upon dropping off the clothes I had signed several documents one been a form for them to take a lock of her hair. - I had been told the cremation wouldn't take place till after Easter mind you this is the end of January so ok I understand there is A numerous amount of people that need a service. But I did ask several times if I could be let known the time so I could pray on it for religious reasons being that this was the only person in my family that was ever cremated due to the fact of Covid having a burial was not something I could afford nor want to chance having a large group of people. I was told yes yes of corse we will call u with a time of not the exact time the time of day morning or noon. - Come to find out I call the Friday before Easter and was told that they Took my mother to weeks earlier. And they thought that that would be best .unfortunately I was NVR notified. No returning phone calls no text message no email no smoke signal I had called several times before that Friday to get in touch with my coordinator and unfortunately they were to busy n or I was always told to leave a message or they would pass a sticky note. - After being a bit heartbroken that my mother was taken to be cremated before the day that was told to me I had asked about her death certificate since I had been waiting for it and they said we will get back to you about that. - Fast forward weeks later still trying to get in touch with someone at the office about the death certificate I was told it was mailed to me and it would be here within a couple days - come End of March when it's time for the funeral I call them the day before the funeral to let them know that I was flying in from Texas and was going to be able to pick up my mother's ashes the Following day receptionist told me that I could come anytime I let them know again I was flying From out of state and if there was a specific time they needed me to come to make this process as seamless as possible and was told come anytime will be waiting for you. upon arriving That wasn't the case . The receptionist tht was there was extremely rude asking several times who I was And that no idea who's ashes I was picking up . - After her asking me several times who I was and who my coordinator was we were put into a room and were told to wait there and that they would let my coordinator know since she was busy. After waiting 45 minutes in a room that was uninviting a coordinator Came in and apologized saying that he was going to be taking over since my coordinator had just went home and he would be bringing my mothers ashes after receiving the ashes and having a breakdown I had asked about the fingerprint that I had requested as well as a lock of her hair that i signed for Unfortunately his face said it all and he had no idea what I was talking about apologized several times and said I will look for it and that's something that the coordinator will have to follow up with you on. This was the fourth funeral our family held at this exact location. Never in the past 25 years had we felt the need to complaint about their services. I'm not sure if they've changed management or what the issue was, but never will we ever hold another service with them again! This was our Mother, we never felt that anyone ever held any regard to our grieving. If my sister had not scheduled the mass and found someone to do the rosary for us, we'd still be waiting for them to schedule the viewing. At the viewing we were told they no longer do virtual videos when one had been done 5 days previous to our service. The flowers sent by our family members were held in a back room until almost the end of the viewing! I can go on and on, it was a complete disgrace to our mother! The hearse waited for no one, they left with my mother's Urn while everyone was still coming out of the church! They arrived at the cemetery in a rush and we ended up having to fend for ourselves there. We felt there were no services representing our family by these people. I would not recommend anyone to use this mortuary. And I haven't even mentioned their "thru the roof" pricing! Don't get me started! ‍ read more

My father was on hospice. We made an appt to get his arrangements made and was very clear with the rep who made the appt that we would be on a time schedule. He confirmed via text that he was available and even picked the time that we meet. We arrived early and were not taken in until 35 minutes after our appt was to occur. Learned from the receptionist that they met with a family who was a walk-in knowing that we had a set appt. When we were finally taken into the room, it took the rep almost 10 minutes to collect our basic information via computer. We learned at that time that appts would be 2.5 hrs. Needless to say, my mother and I left. It's a shame that they are taking advantage of people in their time of grief. Knowing we are in the last days with my Dad, not only did they not respect our time by taking a walk-in but they didn't respect us as people. When we need services in the future, we will not turn to Draper Mortuary. read more

Absolutely horrible experience. We will NEVER use Draper for ANYTHING again. It took over 4 weeks for Draper to "collect" my mother from the hospital due to volume but I had to follow up CONSTANTANTLY just to get updates on WHEN they could get her from the refrigerator at the hospital. In fact, the hospital called me directly and said....their words "you know your Mom is still here, right?" Yes, I knew and was mortified at the process. Our remaining family members now have pre-needs contracts with OTHER service providers as a result of our experience with Draper. I understand Covid has added more pressure to these companies but this is their job. Communication was horrible. Beware of pre-need contract clauses. We used 50% of the pre-need services due to Covid but were told "we do not issue refunds" for unused services and they forwarded the on-line brochure which states the same. The final straw was at graveside. After the small service, they would not bury my mother's ashes unless they had a permit..... which Draper failed to send to Bellevue nor were we told one was needed since I picked up my Mom's ashes myself vs. her spending one more day in this terrible facility. Do yourself a favor. Go elsewhere. read more

This place is the absolute WORST. It took 4 months just to get my grandpa's ashes. Every time my mom would call they would just give her the run around. Never returned her calls or emails. Extremely unprofessional as a business. Would never recommend this place to anyone. Even though we are in a pandemic & had to make appointments, this place was very inconsiderate of my family just trying to get my grandpa's ashes so that we could bury him. First of all the only reason I'm giving it a 1 star is because of Alyssa. She was a very nice young lady .She helped my brother in law and I set up the service for my sister on March 31st, 2023. Also Jaclyn was helpful as well. We had booked 2pm and sent out invites and we're later told that we had to change the time to 4pm because it was double booked . How do you double book a funeral ? The day of my sisters funeral right after the chapel services . A young lady came up to the microphone and said that there were 3 cars that were going to be towed if the cars were not moved in 5 minutes. Not professional at all ! Next , the young lady that was scheduled with us that day had a very bad attitude and negative energy . She was very rude and not empathetic at all to me or my family . She was rolling her eyes, closing doors on my brother when he was trying to carry out heavy boxes. Huffing and puffing and mumbling under her breath, shoving chairs and tables around . Apparently we did not place the tables back in place so she felt that she had to be unprofessional and make our day even worse by having to deal with a bad attitude like hers. Clearly she does not care about her Job or people and she definitely did not want to be there ! I would NEVER refer them if she is going to be over seeing ANY event. She has NO professionalism , NO empathy and NO business being in that line of work ! I hope the Management and owners read my review and reach out to me. We had services for my Mother Thelma Valle Gutiérrez on January 27th of 2023 instead of it being the most beautiful thing to lay your mother to rest it was a horrific day starting off with her viewing where nothing was organized by the mortuary we had the worst service ever the staff was very unprofessional and not trained sufficiently to upkeep the services that we paid for . Four days later for the burial starting at the church was a disaster two females from the. staff that drove the hearse literally didn't know what to do or how to attend us instead they nodded their heads and smiled with a grin every time we ask them something on top of that after the church services these two young ladies got in the hearse with my mother's urn and literally left leaving the whole family behind. I was the only person to follow the hearse all the way to the cemetery when we arrive to the cemetery they had no idea where the burial spot was I have all this on video it was just a horrible day on top of all the grieving from the loss of my mother the fact that she was getting such horrible service didn't make things better once they parked at the spot where she was going to be laid one of the ladies takes my mother's earn out of the hearse and carries it like a gallon of milk on one hand when I asked her why are you carrying it like that all she told me was there was not a body in there and they were only ashes they devastated me I started crying. This was a horrific horrible experience with this Mortuary I pray to God that if you use this Mortuary please look into these reviews first because I don't pray this on my worst enemy worst service ever I'm still haunted by that day . Cold, is the best way to describe this place. I am writing this as my wife is dealing with the loss of her mom. During the most difficult times in your life, they could care less. Heartless is really not low enough to describe these people. Here are a few examples of what she has had to deal with with these people; - No calls back when they said they would call ( we have been busy is the excuse). - A list of "additional" mandatory charges as long as your arm. - Here's a kicker, they make you purchase and choose a product from a list of 3 things. One of them is a CD telling you how to deal with the loss of a loved one, including closing accounts, dealing with Social Security, and other issues right after the loss. My wife chose the CD, and it's on back order. What the hell good is it if you don't get it when you need it. "Stupid". - You need to make appointments for everything. They don't understand your hurting, you need to make an appointment. - They have the cremated remains, you need to make an appointment to pick them up ( you have to call to get an appointment, and they tell you they will call you back with a time, and of course no return call). How hard can it be to give someone the remains, that you need an appointment. It has been everything from frustrating, to infuriating to deal with these people, even to the point of having to go there, sit in the office, and tell them your not leaving until you talk to someone. It's a really hard time for are family, this place just made it worse. read more

I am sorry to say that we chose Draper mortuary for my son's services. It was a bad choice. The communication to us was horrible, the cost was high for what we got. I would not recommend them. Go somewhere else to get a cremation. I was told part of the cost was transportation, well I just received a bill for $400.00 from the coroner for transportation, apparently that was not part of the contract. I supposedly signed something giving the coroner the right to bill me. Please make sure every detail is explained clearly. They told us many things that would be included and then to find out the day of services that they were not. Like use of the screen for photos, they did not know that Christine had told us they would take the cremated remains over to Bellvue so that became a problem. WE asked many times about how to plan for the services and was reassured that everything would be fine and taken care of....of course nothing was and at the last minute we were trying to figure out how to plan and do services. If you have to use this place make sure you get everything in writing and be clear on exactly what they are offering you and what they are not. read more
