I was at Todd Memorial Chapel for my 3rd aunt's funeral the day before Thanksgiving. It was my first time here. It is a beautiful chapel. Love its simple design and decor. Its exquisite ceiling and doors dates back 1907 since its inception. Yes, it's been through 117 years and still going strong. I can tell it's very well maintained. My aunt had a beautiful service. Everything went very well. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Parking lot is very small. It created a slight challenge because all cars were parked behind one another except for the first car. Luckily, I was able to drive on the sidewalk to get out. It's best to park on the street if you don't plan to stay long or be the first car in line. I was here paying respects to gentleman I did not know, but he was in the USA Military services plus a friend of a friend. It seems odd to write a review for this type of service, but I will. It was suggested by hospice at Pomona Valley Hospital that we make arrangements for my mother...which was heartbreaking to hear. At their suggestion, I phoned Todd Memorial Chapel and spoke to Brian Pewe, I explained the situation through tears. Brian was patient and kind. I told him what my mother wanted/didn't want, he didn't try to upsell me some package with all the bells and whistles. Brian simply said we can take care of that for you. And when it was her time, they took care of my momma. They made this process easier for me. This is not a job that I could do, but I'm grateful there are people like Brian Pewe that can. Mitch, Rudy and Jimmy were there 100% for me and my family. My Mother passed suddenly at age 97 They were able to handle most all of the arrangements over the phone and e-mail. I did not have one single worry. At this time we are all living in, I know they are overworked. You couldn't tell, it seemed like my Mother was their only client. The make-up artists made her look so beautiful, simply amazing. The young lady at the front desk was also extremely kind and helpful. I wish I'd gotten her name. The service was perfect. Jimmy and his female assistant were wonderful. They got along well with all the family with our sorrow and humor. My memory is not what it used to be. I just searched this place to leave them a review and I literally thought this place was called Rudy's Mortuary! Hilarious! Rudy is actually the gentleman who helped us the most at Todd's Memorial. This review has been overdue for two months. It has just been so hard, but I need to write it. My loved one had just died and the sheriff told us we needed to call our local mortuary, because the coroner wouldn't come to take him. The first thing I thought to do was to search on Yelp. It was around 11 PM and I found a few locations that looked good. Todd's had more reviews than the others and I quickly scrolled down them to confirm that they looked like the best option. I had no idea if these places even worked so late at night, but I just tried them. The lady on the phone was nice and gave us a ballpark figure of when they would arrive. I think it took like an hour, which they told us. The gentleman who helped us were so nice too. They were very sincere with everything and did a great job. The one with the shaved head was just so caring. Dealing with the phone calls, the decisions, the planning, was so much, but their employee, Rudy, was a pro. It's as if he had a calling in life to do what he does. He listened to us and was very sincere and caring. The other lady, was also nice, Gina, I think. I am so glad I Yelped that night and that I found these people! If I could leave them 100 stars I would. They are truly the cream of the crop. God Bless them for the good work that they do. Josh and the entire staff at Todd Memorial did an excellent job in handling the services for my mom. They were kind and compassionate and helped to manage the interface with the burial at Forest Lawn. The service and the burial were performed both professionally and beautifully. They made sure we had what we needed, even any last-minute requests. More importantly, mom looked beautiful for her viewing and open casket. I was extremely worried as mom was somewhat of a professional with her hair, makeup and dress and we wanted our last look and memory to carry her beauty forward on her journey. I find these employees to be morally disgusting. Terrible contact, misleading families and also attempting to overcharge for services when not necessary. Rudy was overly casual on the phone, acting as if the situation at hand was not serious. It is serious, as someone is dead. A person with family and friends who care for them. These folks are pros. In this field, that means that they are respectful, compassionate, aware of problems, good at finding solutions. Also, they don't push you to spend more than you want--which is good, since it ain't cheap to die. I told them what my husband had wanted and what we needed, and they helped me figure it out. Also very helpful 2 1/2 years later when I needed guidance through the paperwork of getting his remains into a VA cemetery. I am and remain grateful to the Todd team. They even called me on the day of my husband's cremation, in case I wanted to see him one last time. Sadly, my father unexpectedly passed away at the end of March and my siblings and I were not quite sure where to start, besides calling Todd's as our grandparents funerals were held here. For starters, Brian was nothing but amazing. He was patient with my sister and I through the many tears, hard questions and decisions that had to be made. He walked us through every step and offered many choices, to ensure the service was tailored to our father. Every time I had a question leading up to the service he promptly called or emailed back. The days of the services, Jimmy was exceptional. He helped walked us through the days and was very helpful and had a kind nature to him. When my siblings and I asked for things such as alone time with our father before leaving, etc. he would help announce and ensure our request was fulfilled. He helped us from the moment we walked into the chapel to laying our father to rest at the cemetery. Planning a funeral and laying a loved one to rest is one of the most difficult situations to handle, but I strongly recommend Todd's and especially Brian and Jimmy. read more

When my father passed away back in 1987, we used Todd but I was in the military then and I was not part of the planning at all. Now in 2020 sadly, my mother passed away and with the whole Covid-19 there are definitely restrictions and what you can and cannot do. Rudy was so very helpful and instrumental in getting my mom back home to Pomona as she had been living with me and my family in Oceanside, CA. Rudy was very cool and calm at all times and communicated my options very clearly. Finding a mortuary to handle our needs was not as easy as we thought it would be. All I heard from frustrated mortuary folks was that Covid had recreated a backlog of 'clients' and how we'd have to wait. However, when Krissy answered the phone at Todd's I knew we'd found the right place. Patient, kind and not pushy or in a hurry to get off the phone, she represented Todd's in an excellent manner and provided excellent customer service throughout the process. She sent a price sheet and samples of flyers, prayer cards and provided leads to wonderful musicians and clergy. I had never lost anyone close to me so when that sad day came I was lost. With no direction and hardly any money I had no time to grieve. I was out shopping for a funeral. After several different places I walked into Todd's and Brian was there to help. He put together an awesome package of only the necessities and gave me the best quote I had gotten. Then I shared a little about what happened with my dad and he stepped in called the mortuary at the hospital and then the corners office. When I told him not to embalm him they held off until I was ready. The service was amazing. We used the Claremont facility which was really great. The staff they provided for the day was awesome. Sadly we lost a family member back in November(2021) my family went with this place RUDY was so respectful and caring.. He received my loved one from another state and arrange everything so nicely and took great care of him. Unfortunately a month later (December 2021) I lost my newborn son.. he handled my son with extreme care and I just knew my son was taken care of and respected. He kept me updated throughout the entire process and was once again very respectful and showed lots of sympathy and empathy. I think it is fair to say that most of us walk into a mortuary tired and beat. Mr. John Todd made my recent experience feel like I was dealing with a friend. Mr. John Todd was very courteous, sympathetic, helpful, respectful, and completely professional at every step of the way. This is my second dealing with Todd. This family business has been handling the details for generations of local families for many years and it shows. John provided answers to many questions and helped resolve every detail that I wanted. They set up everything from the church services to the Forest Lawn paperwork. We also have used their mortuary chapel in the past and they set up the priest years earlier for another family member. Everything was handled calmly and efficiently. At the service, a third generation Todd, was there from beginning to end, watching that every detail was carried out. If you're into Spanish California Architecture, this building will have you on your toes, as there is no other architecture like their building anywhere I know of locally. Of the many positive Yelp reviews I have ever written and posted over the past 18 years, what you are about to read reflects one the finest experiences that I have ever had with any company offering me any product and/or service. In the wake of our Mother's in 2015, our family selected Todd Memorial to help us with our funeral arrangements. Because Todd Memorial performed so exemplary, our family decided to purchase pre-need funeral plan for our Father a few months later through Todd Memorial. In doing so, we were able to pre-select and plan our arrangements well before needed. Fast forward to March 26th of 2022, suddenly and without warning, our Father passed away. In the midst of our shock and grief, a phone call to Todd Memorial was met with such compassion, understanding and immediate assistance. Our family was blessed to be assigned Ms. Krissy Pewe to assist us through the planning process. From my very first phone call with her, Ms. Krissy displayed genuine care and concern for our family's loss, grief, sadness and initial state of confusion. Because our Father was a veteran of the Korean War, there were a number of important "I's" that had to be dotted and a number critical "T's" that had to be crossed. These included obtaining an American Flag, arranging time/date of burial at the Riverside National Cemetery, coordinating with U.S. Army officials to schedule the participation of the Army Honor Guard and all the other planning details associated with normal funerals. What makes our experience with Krissy so extraordinary, was the consistently prompt and professional manner in which every call, text or email was answered and handled. Of the many calls placed, I would say that over 90% were taken by Krissy right then and there. And the other 10% when she was either busy or on another call, I received a call back within 15-20 minutes. Of the countless emails I sent, 100% of them were returned within the hour and with such clear detail that made well informed decisions pretty easy to make. This degree of access and response time is unheard of in this day and age. On the day of the Funeral, the (Game-Day) team/staff of Josh & Asa picked up where Krissy Pewe left off. Our family found both Asa and Josh professional, personable and compassionate in the process of executing our plan to a "T".  Although I arrived early, both Josh and Asa were already in place and prepared for the arrival of our family and congregation. Throughout the day, I watched as both Josh & Asa communicated and coordinated well with all church and traffic control personnel to ensure that no "I" was left undotted and no "T" was left uncrossed. I can truly say that Josh and Asa were as invested in the smooth running of our Father's service as they would have been invested in their own Father or Mother's service.   It is impossible to convey in human language that amount of gratitude our family has for the exceptional commitment to excellence and the manner in which the Todd Memorial team tended to every facet of our Dad's Celebration of Life. From the way Dad looked - To the beautiful viewing - To the perfect execution of our Father's service - To the efficient traffic escort out to Riverside National Cemetery - To the seamless handoff to Riverside National Cemetery personnel and Army honor guard.  Thanks to Krissy and her polished Staff, our family was able to sit back, relax and appreciate all that took place before, during and following our Father's celebration of Life and Legacy. The products and services provided by Todd Memorial exceeded our expectations and has played a central role in easing our pain and has allowed the healing process to begin in earnest.
