So, even though it's a bit off the beaten path, Calico Creations has become a place I can rely on to grab the perfect fabric for my latest project. So I try to stop there when I'm passing near (or through) MV. They carry all of the major designers and latest lines. From modern prints by Tula Pink and Kaffe Fassett to more traditional calicos and Civil War style fabrics, you will find it here. Not to mention they have an extensive collection of solids and blender fabrics, baby fabrics, pattern books and even some pre-cuts (not many, but I'll take it). Not in a sewing mood? Find inspo from their ever-rotating samples adorning their windows and walls. On a budget? They have an impressive (and huge) sale area in the back, where fabric is $10/yard (or lower). My only criticism is their small space. They could easily fill a shop twice the size, and as a result many MANY of their bolts are sitting on the floor. They try to keep it organized, and do a pretty good job, but it bears mentioning you'll need to "file" through bolts on the floor that aren't as easy to view as the ones on the shelves.

If you've never been, it's like an Asian dollar store with household items, pet items, toys, office supplies, electronic accessories, art, beauty, kitchen, dishes - you name it, they have a small selection. Pricing starts at $1.75 for most items, and up from there. I haven't come across an item that costs more than $15. Catch is no returns. They had 3 registers, two manned by staff and one self checkout register. Definitely worth the stop to check it out!

Among the usual big stores (Costco, Best Buy, Home Depot, pet mart, etc.) we saw this Daiso, so we had to go there. It's quite the walk from the superchargers, as the parking lot is humongous and Daiso is on the opposite side. Good excuse for a brisk walk. This location is quite big and quite new, it Carrie's all the usual Daiso items. We decided to get some pocky and took the opportunity to get some house items we were missing, such as plastic wrap, baking paper, and other stuff. Nice find!

Both turned out absolutely delicious and instructions were very clear - I actually feel comfortable recreating these at home. Our instructor was Cat, who was extremely knowledgeable and kept the class going at a great pace. I also really liked her humor! I found her jokes super funny and she kept me engaged, never bored. We got to sample lots of the instructor's bread at the end of class and took home our own breads, which were HUGE. Plenty to share with family and I froze some too.

No idea - no one in class acted out of turn or caused problems. It was very unprofessional.
