I've been a customer of Urbane Nails & Spa for about 10 years, and I've always taken advantage of…read moretheir advertised 50% off the second service of equal or lesser value promotion. I've gotten a pedicure and eyebrow wax many times, and my eyebrows have always qualified for the discount. Today, I left work early so I could arrive before 3:00 p.m. specifically to take advantage of the promotion. After my services were finished, I was told my eyebrows didn't qualify. The explanations kept changing. One employee said the promotion only applies to manicures and pedicures. Another said it only applies to "full services," but couldn't clearly define what that meant. Neither explanation matches the sign outside, which simply says "50% off second service of equal or lesser value." It doesn't mention "full services" or list any exclusions. I paid the full price because I wasn't going to argue over it, but I also didn't leave a tip. The amount I expected to save on the advertised promotion was what I would have tipped. If the policy has changed, that's completely the business's right. But the advertising should be updated, and every employee should be giving customers the same explanation. After 10 years of being a loyal customer, this experience was disappointing enough that I'll be taking my business elsewhere.

I originally booked a gel manicure but was talked into a builder gel manicure because I wanted to try the service. I've never been to this nail salon, this was my first time, and when I asked about the pricing since it was an up-charge from what I originally booked, I was met with laughter by her and a few of the other surrounding nail techs. They spoke in another language but I did hear her say under her breath "asked about the price", after she continued laughing. I knew at that moment that I wouldn't make another appointment and felt very uncomfortable in her chair. I was very disappointed because my nails, other than a few hiccup areas, did not turn out terrible. I did feel as though my appointment with her was rushed; and other than informing me of the price of the builder gel service and asking what color I wanted, she didn't seem as though she wanted my business, and rushed off right after she was done. I looked at the reviews before coming to this location but did not realize that there are a few postings of this nail salon with a few not so great reviews. I asked for John specifically but was told he didn't work there, and a technician named Jade did my builder gel nails. Unfortunately, the nails were pretty, along with the design I chose but they were lumpy and the shape was off. These photos are after I asked the manager to fix them (she did some filing to the sides and shaped them well)They were kind enough to give me a call and acknowledge their mistake of telling me that John no longer worked there and that they were sorry I wasn't satisfied with my nails, as well as saying I could get a refund next time I come in. When I returned today, Jade questioned my dissatisfaction, and John redid my builder gel nails. He did great with the shaping and filing, they're so smooth and feel great, but the design still wasn't what I expected. John usually does a great job but this time the design was pretty messy and not what I truly wanted, and I always show a reference picture. They did offer a 50% discount, but given the stress and confusion, I expected a better outcome especially since these nails are important to me because they are for my 21st birthday. The short French tip nails that I was disappointed with were done by Jade And the black nails were done by John
