My husband ruined our oven so we had to get take out while we waited for our new one to arrive. Decided to go with Chinese and gave this place a try. Menu is huge, liked the variety they had. My husband was happy they had lemon chicken. I actually really liked it- I like how it's crunchy and oily on the outside but kind of soft underneath. Basically made the same way as fish and chips is made, that kind of crispy but soft battered dough. The amount was generous also and the lemon sauce was very tangy and lemony. Other lemon sauces I had before tasted like plastic or fake, but this one was good. I also got the generals tso chicken. I liked the taste of it, wasn't too spicy but just spicy enough for me with a tang. The only thing is I'm used to having some vegetables or baby corn in it and there wasn't any in this one besides a couple pieces of broccoli. The fried rice was also very good. We got it with lobster which I haven't really seen before. I think it's better with pork, but glad we tried it. Also really liked the fortune cookies. They were an orange chocolate vanilla swirl flavor rather than just the standard yellow looking ones. Very good. Next time I'll have to ask for more haha. read more

So, someone stupid in the house (I'm also the only one who cooks), almost burnt down the entire place... The range is currently in the driveway and until we get a new one on Thursday, cooking here will be limited. After an entire day of cleaning where the old oven was, cleaning the entire kitchen and preparing the natural gas line for the new stove, we thought takeout would be a fantastic idea. What's better than Chinese too, to stretch into an extra meal that is easily microwavable or can be warmed in our toaster oven... We wanted to try somewhere new and I thought Dragon & Phoenix might be a good choice. Close to the house and somewhere we've seen over the years, but never tried. The menu looks extensive and they had one of my favorites. Lemon Chicken! We went with that, lobster fried rice, General Tso's, and wonton soup. We placed an order on Sunday night around 5:30 and was told it would be twenty minutes. Walking in, I was surprised to see a couple of tables if you wanted to dine there. A lot of people working in the kitchen and one worker was bringing a tray of wontons over. I was impressed by what I saw, we paid and zoomed on home. First of all, it was incredible to have smells other than smoke in the house... I'm an idiot... We planned on making lemonade this evening, so I grabbed a piece of my lemon chicken, while I quickly juiced some lemons. This was good. Real good... Among the best lemon chicken I've had. It reminds me of a better version of the type I ate all of the time when I was younger. All of the other places that I can find with lemon chicken deep fry the chicken so it's crispy with a lemon sauce. Don't get me wrong, I love crispy chicken. Maybe if I wasn't an idiot with cooking oil, because I enjoyed crispy stuff, I'd still have an oven too... This lemon chicken had a crunch, but still that soggy interior that I grew to love. When we eat, don't we want to be reminded of past experiences? There isn't anything better. The wonton soup was good, the General Tso's worked, but had a really nice looking red sauce glaze on it. I didn't want the lobster fried rice, but I enjoyed the fried rice part. This fried rice had the flavors I wanted, but I would prefer more traditional proteins in there. I don't care though, I wanted the lemon chicken and that was the only battle I wanted to fight... My wife loved the lemon chicken too. Well, she doesn't love anything, probably not even me, but it was acceptable to her. Just the fact that she took so many pieces of it, means it was pretty good. Finally, the fortune cookie was among the best I've had. Those orange, vanilla, chocolate ones? So great! This place just reminds me of college so much. I just ordered delivery from here and I was not disappointed. My food came within 25 minutes during a weekend lunch. The portion was good for a lunch size and included a soup or egg roll and a soda for $6.50 plus delivery charge ($1.75). The food itself was decent as well. I won't say it's my favorite (which goes to a little corner place in Philly), but it was pretty good. As I mentioned, portion size was good for the price and the pork fried rice was alright. According to the lady, the cashier , even though we just spent $60 for our lunch, she refused to give us small little tiny container of hot oil , one for each person.. she would give us 3 for 8 of us to share.. (again, we had 5 lunches, an order of 4pc chicken wings, two orders of house special fried rice large) And when i told her i always get hot oils for free at other Chinese restaurant, she said its because we got a lunch that she will have to charge them.. (really..?? ) Also, she mentioned that no other Chinese restaurants give soup or egg roll and soda for lunch.. So we ordered chicken and shrimp chow Mein, and double checked on google images to make sure we were getting a noodle based dish. We ended up getting this, and when we called to clarify the gentleman on the phone said that is incorrect. There is Asian chow mein and American chow mein. I have never heard of such a thing. This is a cabbage based dish which I cannot find anywhere online that says it is cabbage and not noodles. So beware when you order there that their chow mein is cabbage. read more

It was still hot when it came which is a plus. Shrimp with garlic sauce - The shrimp were large and cooked well with the tails removed. There were also snow peas, water chestnuts, bamboo shoots, green peppers, mushrooms, carrots, and cabbage. The sauce was NOT your typical garlic sauce. There isn't really a comparison taste-wise, it just throws you off when you're expecting a certain flavor and get something totally different. Mongolian beef - Another disappointment. The portion was small with almost half of the container being filled by steamed broccoli. The beef was on the tender side, but the taste was off with this as well. Sometime during my year and a half living away from Conshy, I visited from the West Coast to find a new Chinese place along Fayette Street. The menu looks like your standard Americanized Chinese food menu, not taking too many dives into unfamiliar territory (no monkey dishes). Since I've moved back to town, we've ordered delivery (from four blocks away - shameful) about a half dozen times, and each time we end up overstuffed and utterly satisfied. Great stir fry, fantastic General's chicken, flavorful egg rolls... I didn't care too much for the lobster in one seafood dish, but the dish was like $12 so I can't really expect fresh Maine lobster. Saddest excuse for Chinese food. Crab Rangoons: barely any filling, is there crab in this? "fried rice": like others have said, I think it's literally yellow rice with pork bits. No egg, no soy sauce. Szechaun beef: that is NOT a Szechaun sauce. This is a red, tomatey sauce with a bit of sweet and sour mixed in. There is no spiciness at all. If you like sweet and sour you'll like this, but if you were expecting a spicy awesome dish then stay away! Hunan chicken: again, no flavor I have never had a Chinese place fail so much at cooking even one thing to resemble Chinese food. They disregarded my allergy to mushrooms, twice! Now I sit here sick for the second time in two weeks. The first time the mushroom pieces were so small that I ingested them and got super sick. This time again I ordered without mushroom and stated it was an allergy, and giant pieces of mushroom were in my lo main. Definitely my favorite Chinese takeout in the area! They are crazy quick to make your order, and everything is very consistent and delicious. Is it expensive and gourmet? Nope. But it is cheap and yummy! Lunch specials are a great deal, and ask about any coupons that they have too. Parking is more difficult in the summer, since they share just a few spots with the next door ice cream place, Scoops.
