a hand holding a budweiser beer bottle

I was with a group of around 10 for lunch and we overwhelmed them. They were already busy and it's a small place with around 8 booths and long bar with stools. there was no doubt it was a local crowd. We sat down and there were not enough booths so myself and friend sat at the bar. The waitress was extremely busy!!! Other friends were not getting menus and felt like the wait would be too long and left. I hung in there. It did take a while for orders, but obvious they were overwhelmed and did not have proper staffing. Orders taken and the waitress was friendly and apologetic at the wait. Burgers, fries and beer seemed perfect. Drinks were served immediately. We found out the dishwasher called in and the owner was cooking and doing dishes in their tiny kitchen. So most certainly I'm providing Grace on this review. Food took around 25 minutes to hit the counter. Visually looked good, basic. The temperature was correct. The taste on the burger exceeded expectations. Bun fresh, thin burger patty tasty. The fries although basic were crisp and hot. The food saved the review with service struggles. However staff was always nice. The bill was also delayed, but at this point we understood the staffing dynamic. The price was crazy reasonable and a generous tip was applied. 3.5, rounding up.

GREAT service from Tanya! She was friendly and helpful, the food was really good and the prices were low, as well. I am very glad that I tried this place for lunch today!

Food, service and prices were great! Decor and tables/seating had a certain old-school charm but had seen better days. All in all a great visit, though!

Made a trip up to Newark to grab a bite with a friend. I heard this place had amazing cheeseburgers so decided to check it out. The bar is seemingly run by two adorable and sweet elderly women. One of which I'm told is the owner who mainly cooks. I was told if I wanted the experience, to get the Benjy-boy-girl, so I did. This looks like a gluttonous slop fest on paper, but oh no, it was delicious. I felt my head pounding as the salt load hit my blood from that and the fresh hot fries. That with a cold draught beer and I was was in my happy place. If you want some cheap delicious food that will fill you up so much you can actually feel the gravitational pull from your stomach affecting other patrons in the restaurant, you've found your place in Newark.

Friendly bar area!

A classic main street style bar. Great staff. Colorful locals and newbies. Great burger, reasonably quick. Although it's a long, long way from home I'd make a point to come should we pass this way again.

Do these folks own another bar also? Gahanna or Pataskala? Is (at least one of) the owners Cindy?

On the plus side, the quality of food here has really gone up & we find ourselves eating here more frequently. We find the food to be at a good price point. The weird thing about this evening is they were sending employees home early because they were slow & ended up short handed. We eat dinner out on average 4-5 times a week, mostly in Columbus, sometimes in Granville,, Heath or Newark.

I was just cracking on Olive Garden the other day, and yet, here we are…read more Kid K wanted Piada. None in Newark, so I searched for Italian places, and she saw Olive Garden. And apparently has a core memory of a fun family gathering there, so she wanted to go. I did not, but when it's almost 2 and you haven't eaten lunch sometimes the kid wins. Who am I kidding, she almost always does, because there has to be something for her to eat and that's not always true at my Chinese and Indian and Korean picks. It was packed, at 2pm on a Saturday. Newark has a decent amount of choices, and yet everybody was here? Harumph. Got right in though, and service was frazzled but reasonably quick and super friendly. Kid K got kid-menu mac and cheese, side of fries, and upgraded to a smoothie. She liked all of it. And the salad and breadsticks, though I think the endless parmesan was what really sold her. She asked for lots on the salad, even some on the fries and mac. Portions were big, a good thing since she is now a bigger kid. I went small since I figured the breadsticks and salad would make up part of my meal. The "lighter" lasagna. And it was a small portion, but it did end up being enough with the "free" stuff. No leftovers, of course. And I didn't really care, because it just wasn't that great. Olive Garden's specialty is good-enough sorta-Italian. And with so many other options it is never my choice. The lasagna was like a frozen one. Frankly a "premium" frozen one would probably be better. Oh, well. Free refills on my pretty-good lemonade (not Minute-Maid, the "classic lemonade" I think.) Great service, as I said. Not super pricey. I survived.
