The food was a 5 star. I had the thanksgiving sandwich and it was delicious. The only reason I gave 4 stars was the pricing. It's pretty expensive for what you get. The place is super cute. It's a mish mash of different fun pieces for decoration and I like that it isn't and doesn't feel like the standard chain coffee shop. I would like to come back and try the coffee and sandwich items but they're bakery items were good. The lady that helped me at the front was super friendly! I basically left with a smile on my face so that's awesome and I hope they keep spreading cheer. I do suggest this place and cannot wait to try it again. So happy to have this place. It's a cozy little hole in the wall with awesome service and a tasty selection of what you would expect at a coffee shop, breakfast menu, and lunch. I love love their stuffed frenchtoast with a tall cold brew! I docked a star for the parking wars they're having with the neighboring businesses which leaves spaces for parking at peak hour less than desirable. I like this place. It feels like an ameuter job, as far as the layout and the operation of the front end, however the food is good. I've been twice, my wife and kids a few more times than I. The drinks taste good. Their bread pudding is to die for. Absolutely delicious. The custard has flavor, the bread is cooked perfectly, and there is a delightful sauce that oozes over it. It gave my wife's home-cooked bread pudding a run for it's money, and I think it's better. At our most recent visit I ordered an Italian soda and waffles. Their waffle maker was acting up, they said, so I waited quite awhile for them, but the resulting dish was delicious. Light, airy, yet crispy waffles with a dallop of whipped cream and some strawberries on top. My wife had the eggs Benedict. She wasn't so happy. She could tell that it was made by a different person, and it's those inconsistencies a restaurant should arrive to avoid. It was okay, she said. The English muffin was cooked improperly and the poached eggs were overcooked, but the hollandaise and Canadian bacon were prepared properly. All in all, 3 stars out of 5. Food inconsistencies are a problem and it doesn't feel professional. But the food is good and the staff is friendly. I'll go back, but I'm not expecting fine dining. read more

Love the atmosphere, the coffee was amazing, and the barista was patient and kind, they even had some vegan cupcakes and milk substitutes! First time diner, and visited here last Saturday as a guest of my wife, who was a repeat customer. We were greeted by an employee at the counter, given paper menus, and told that breakfast was served all day. Finding a table we sat and make our selections- a grilled sandwich for my wife, and jagerschnitzel for me. We waited several minutes before realizing the staff would not wait on us, and we needed to return to the counter to order. Making our order, we were told the jagerschnitzel wasn't available, as they didn't have the staff to prepare many of the entrees on the menu. This was at 2:30pm- there were two employees at the counter, one cleaning the dining area, one seated at a desk, and noises coming from the kitchen, indicating at least one more in there. There was also at this time a total of five customers in the building- us, and three men talking over coffee. Disappointed, I instead ordered the chef's salad, and waters with our meals. Paid with a credit card through their box, which automatically options for adding a tip. We always top graciously, but not before being served. Returning to our table, we then waited nearly half an hour for our meals. Conversation was difficult as a staff member was sweeping the dining area, dragging the metal chairs across the tile floor for ten minutes of eardrum-rending screeches. When conversation was possible we competed with the counter staff, who were carrying on a loud conversation of their own. Food was delivered to our table, but no waters. We were told water was self-serve, and directed to a nearly-empty communal carafe. It would have been nice to have been told that when we ordered water a half hour before. No water glasses- just small cocktail-size plastic cups, which I had to refill three times, the last time by opening the stopcock on the carafe and leaning it over at a 45-degree angle to drain the last of the water. Now to my chef's salad. Setting it down in front of me, the staff member said- "We're out of cucumbers- I hope that's OK." And if it wasn't? Would I be allowed to order something else, and wait another 30 minutes? Could I not have been told that when the kitchen took my order? The salad came in a regular-size salad bowl, as it was slightly larger than what you might expect of a side salad, to the point the greens, sliced egg, ham, Turkey, etc. was heaped over the top. The problem was, to mix the dressing and toss everything together without spilling it on the table, since there was no plate, I spread 6 of the cocktail-size napkins on the table and proceeded to mix it up, eventually tossing the spillage back in. My wife's sandwich was very good, as was my salad, but at $13 my salad was overpriced. Even if it had included cucumbers. Finishing (at this point the only customers left in the building) we policed up our bowl, plate, and plastic cups and left. No staff ever checked on us, asked how the meal was, or even said goodbye or thank you, although they did continue their loud conversation at the counter. All in all, I left feeling I had imposed on them by selecting them for lunch, and giving them my business. My wife left a small tip- we always do, at least 15% and more often more- but had it been me alone, I would not have done so. Tips are a gratuity for appreciated service. What does a total of 30-seconds interaction over the course of 45 minutes deserve? My wife always says "Don't let one bad experience form your opinion." I try not to, but with so many fine area restaurants with friendly, attentive staff, it will be some time before we return. read more

We enjoyed the charm of the quaint interior which exudes a feel of comfort amidst a sampling of comfortable living room settings. The free wi-fi helped to fill the few short moments before the food arrived, but the conversation picked up as we enjoyed the simple sandwiches with a side. Unfortunately, service has dropped. The staff was rude and impatient as if my order was interrupting something important. Orders have been wrong consecutively, quality of food has diminished as well. Recommend staff get retraining or changed. Will not be returning for a while. read more

We saw the ratings and descriptions on yelp and decided to visit. Finding the shop off the highway was very easy. Plenty of parking and nice looking building. Inside was welcoming, clean and charming. The counter person was very helpful and knowledgeable. We ordered house coffee which tasted exactly as she described. My wife ordered the Eggs Benedict and I had the waffle with strawberries. The food was served quickly with a smile. Both dishes had fruit medley on the side. The Eggs were great and the waffle was hot, crispy and delicious. What a nice breakfast on old hwy 66! read more

I really enjoy going here. The coffee is good, and lunch sandwiches are also. The desserts that I've tried are decent. I don't go to coffee shops as much for the coffee (I can brew specialty coffee at home), I go for the atmosphere and the relax with friends/family. The staff here are very welcoming, and the setup is inviting. I do wish they had a few more couches and comfy chairs as opposed to so many tables. read more

The owner puts her heart into this restaurant, the food is amazing, the best cupcakes in the area(the tiramisu are to die for!). She tends to have a good range of gluten-free items that also taste just as amazing. The drinks are always so tasty! Not just a bunch of sugar dumped into a cup like Starbucks, you can have the sweet and coffee flavors alive in the drink. Wide variety of herbal teas too! Many fun ice cream flavors to choose from too. The atmosphere is very relaxed and nice on the eyes. Definitely recommend stopping by and having a tasty meal or treat and of course coffee! read more

Drachenfutter is a decent little coffee shop. I love that everything is made fresh and isn't some crap that comes prepackaged and you have to thaw it out and cook it in bags in order to serve it. My only complaint is the pricing... I went there for dinner one time, had a cup of coffee and the dinner special for the night and it was almost $30. It was $26 and some change. I'd gone there with a friend for brunch and for 2 coffees and an oatmeal cream pie it was like $18. Everything is really good, and they can say whatever they want as far as justifying their pricing because they use this certain kind of coffee, etc. but I mean, for the portion size of the food that I ordered the night that I went, it was not worth the price I paid. It was 2 small rouladen, a side salad of greens and 2 pieces of toast cut in half and then the latte. The staff is always friendly, the place is always clean and the food is good. Just a little pricey for the value of food that you get. I probably will never have dinner there again, but I might go there again and get a cup of coffee if I'm feeling like paying $7 or $8 for a latte again! :) read more
