Today I had my second visit this year. On my first visit for my annual eye test they discovered I had cataracts. Two weeks ago I had surgery to correct this issue and was back for my follow up exam. Dr Marrow is very thorough and I am confident that I will be able to see clearly again. After my exam I was ready to head to Walmart for glasses because we all know they cost a lot more at the optometrists right? They convinced me to just look around and price out while I was there and see what I could get. Bree was a fun and knowledgeable shopping partner and we tried on numerous frames and talked about the pros and cons of each of them. She had me feeling like I was shopping with a close friend instead of an employee of the office. Finally I found a frame I really liked and we sat down to talk price. i was still planning on heading to Walmart because I was sure it would be higher than I was able to go, but I did have fun. I discovered that the entire pair, with better lenses and all of the coatings was actually LESS than what I had paid in June for my bottom of the line, get me through until after surgery, glasses at Walmart. Nearly $100 dollars cheaper. I am so excited about my purchase! Now the big downside about purchasing glasses at Dr Tavel's . At Lens Crafters or eyeglass World my glasses would have been ready by tomorrow. At Walmart it would take a week, but at Dr Tavels they said it will take an unbelievable 4 weeks. I almost backed out because of it. The only reason I didn't is I really do love the frames and the price was so good. I will update this if it takes even longer than that, and probably lower the star rating to reflect it. read more

First, they did not have my appointment even though they called the previous day and I verified that my appointment was 8:30 the next morning. Secondly, the website proudly claims that they take all insurance but I walked in and they said they had never seen it before and couldn't look it up. They said I could be a walk in appointment but it would cost $70 out of pocket. Finally, after about 45 minutes, they verified my insurance by calling the company. The woman who saw me was an assistant, not a doctor, and was unprofessional. At first I thought she was a secretary. I have been wearing glasses for five years and my glasses have not been doing as much for me as they used to, as my eyes have gotten worse. The woman then told me I had 20/20 vision and if I was any younger she wouldn't have given me a prescription. I literally cannot read road signs when I drive and have a stigmatism. She recommended that I only wear my glasses occasionally when I wanted to feel "more comfortable". To be fair, I don't have the thickest prescription but I'd like to be taken seriously when I come with concerns at an office. At the end of my appointment I facetimed a "real" eye doctor who said hello and asked if I had questions. There is obviously an issue with my eyes and besides the mistakes with the appointment and insurance, I felt invalidated in the issues I was facing. No thank you. read more

I went into Dr.Tavel in Anderson hoping to get a walk in appt. My dog had chewed up my glasses and they were ruined. Ashley the assistant manager went above and beyond and got me a new pair of frames and scheduled me for an appt as well as went over my insurance benefits with me. They were all super sweet and very helpful. I am beyond grateful. read more
